38 threads since joining. wow. PUBLIC FIGURES / PRIVATE LIVES.

Hello survivors.

FIRST NEW THREAD OF THE NEW YEAR.

SO HERE WE ARE ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS AND ONLY THREE MORE DAYS TO GO BEFORE TWELTH NIGHT. ARH.

--

So what of public figures and there private lives.

Do we as consumers have a right to know all there is about those the media parades on the television. the radio, the newspapers and the magazines?

Do those superstars of the world of sport and entertainment desire to court the media to the extent we are suffocated by title tatle and the idiosyncracies of such forward personalities?

Should the media adhere to a stricter code of publishing and broadcasting?

What say you?

I don't even understand the question. However, I did take down my Christmas decorations today. Does that help?

Hello Groucho,

Shouldn't we give a ****. Afterall they are role models for those who have children.

Or should we monitor everything children read or watch, just to be doubly sure nothing subversive or untoward reaches there delicate eyes, or ears?

Blush If the media were more careful, would we need to protect and screen things so vigilantly?

Happy new year.

Blimey! Isn't this a bit heavy for the coffee lounge.
Chuck the TV out the window, don't buy newspapers,
We never had a TV or anything and it didn't stop me. :cool1:

Pah, they love it :w00t: .

Actually I agree with Bob, if you don't agree with the actions of the gutter press, don't buy their product. I'm totally oblivious to most of the red top gossip simply cos I never read the things.

Hello Bob,

Beginning When I was a very young child (between the ages of 6 - 18)to my late teens my father used to feel television killed conversation in the home; so on the rare occassions we had one, there was only ever one channel working on some really old knackered set. I was careful not to get caught out watching it straight from school, otherwise he'd take the plug off and tell me it was broken altogether. Then he'd tell me to go and use my brain for my homework from school, as apparently my teachers at the various open nights had enthused about me to my parents.

Had I no homework, he'd assume I'd forgotten it so therefore would select something else to do. Milton, Shakespeare, Chaucer or maybe some simple reading he called it the local newpaper and arts reviews.

What you suggest my father would definitely approve of.
