Yep they're everywhere now, but...

Where did they all come from? seriously...and why the awfull clowns and OTT Mr T bling?
Nearest I can explain it is that Chav is the romany word for child, and Romanis have a fondness for earrings/gold.

Any ideas?

well I think you are right about what the definition "Chav" is, Marms, but I think that type has always been about, didn't they used to be called "Essex Girls and Boys"? I think it's just that they are pandemic so you can't regionalise them anymore.

I'm watching my best friend turn into a Chav, and there is nothing I can do to stop it!

I think its just individual taste

ie:

I like the tailored look, she likes Von Dutch & playboy;
I like natural looking self tan - if any, she likes to get tangoed;
I like well made expensive handbags, she carries a fake LV bag

but she's still the same person... what can I do? Blush

I would first question whether it was "individual" and then I'd question even more fiercely if it was "taste"! Tongue

Lol

I was thinking back a few weeks to when I was on a bus and a laydee of about 65 got on wearing a pink and white tracksuit, lots of creole earrings and neckchains, some of which would tether the Oriana, including a stunning diamante studded pendant that said GRANDMA in letters about two inches tall.
Oh yes, and a Burberry check shopping trolley.
Respect! ...I think...lol

well up here they are called neds, and pj is one!!! lol, only joking. but pj does come from the land of the neds, where they wear tracksuits with their socks pulled over the legs! and me coming from classy aberdeen, i thought this was a urban myth until i visited glasgow and witnessed this monstrosity first hand. even then i only saw a few neds until last time i went to glasgow and went into the st enoch centre and omg, the place was crawling with them! think i'll stick to buchanan st from now on!

sadly since my first sighting of a ned, i have noticed a few in my area. this fashion is catching on!

kookycat? she makes exceedingly good posts
