In a word. No.

I had no money before it (student), and I have no money now (unemployed).

I have not found living any easier or harder. The only thing it affects for me is getting a job. I have found this hard, but don't know whether that is due to the recession or just my chosen career.

You're not born lazy, it's an acquired skill

I feel it all around in the City, alot of people in my sector have been fired in London, Hong Kong and New York.

Alot of our clients have gone out of business as well.

However, one silver lining is that I get paid in dollars, so weak sterling is good for me.

Yes, although , I've been quite busy because I specialise in restructures and redundancies. I do see a number of companies using the recession as an opprtunity to clear out deadwood

For me personally, I see day rates coming down and I'm budgeting to have to wait for longer between full-time contracts. I'm also invoicing up-front.

On the upside, it's certainly easier negotiating contractual changes with the Unions under the banner of 'preserving jobs in the long-term'

Well it's no real issue.

Work won't suffer too much as the projects have to happen anyway, the dollar switch has made my company happier about how much we europeans cost them.

Just wish I could say the same for my other half

The ironic thing about life is that no one gets out alive...Huh

I haven't felt any effects yet. To be honest I'm always broke anyway.

But I do need to re-negotiate on my mortgage soon so that might make a difference. Mind I'm on a fixed 5.45% - so it might mean that I pay less.

My electricity and gas bills have gone thru the roof though - I will be glad when it's summer!

... i only came online to visit Delia's site for tips on how to season a frying pan ...

No-one can sell their properties and no-one can get a mortgage, so Lettings is booming.

For now.
