Bringing in the New Year with a BANG!

Bringing in the New Year with a BANG!

Just thought I'd share this as it was totally unbelievable and like something you'd only see on The Bill.
My sister had a New Year's party at her house and all the family and all our mates were over. And given how many people that actually was, the house was jam packed.
So, anyway, the festivities went on and everyone was gradually getting bloutered (Mother PJ decided to have her first tequila shot...needless to say it was her last).
Then all of a sudden, my little cousin who had been outised with his friend (obviously smoking!) came running in saying the police were outside. And they were - cordoning off the house next door with their police tape and crime scene people were taking photos with their big massive flashy cameras.
I made an attempt to go over to them and nosily ask what was going on but was heatedly told to "get back into your house NOW!"
So, we were all all speculating as to what might have happened - surely they wouldn't have went to all that trouble over a burglary or something.

But we just heard the couple next door were in fact getting ready to come into my sister's party when they started having a fight. The husband flipped and shot her twice with an air-gun. Once in the side and once in the head! :shocking:
So, she was carted off to the hospital and he was carted off to the cells (out now on bail though).

Anyway, the woman is fine and out of hospital now. She was talking to my sister earlier and said how she's determined to get a divorce now!
The sad thing is, they have a seven year old son.

What a way to start 2006!

Blimey! Fancy surviving been shot in the head. I hope the wee lad wasn't about to see it.

You really a cheeky lot sometimes :glare:
But that's the thing - it's a very nice estate and this couple are apparently very well respected people in it. No-one knew they were having trouble or that they would so anything like this. Just shows you that you can never tell what's going on behind closed doors.

PJ when I read the title to this thread I thought you were referring to the Somba tale.

What a shocking story and a horrible start to the new year for that poor woman.
