Dance!

Well, this may well be the last thread I make on this site for a while, because I've got a lot of stuff to do over the next couple of days before I head off to Egypt on holiday. So, to quote The Joker (and in effect, Batdance) - Go, Go, Go with a smile!

God bless technology. When before it was dancing in front of the mirror with a hairbrush, now wannabe Madonna's everywhere can film themselves dancing and singing, and then reel back in horror when they realise how **** they are. But those are the lucky ones..

Zip forward to 2:30 on the one below, unless you like aural torture.

Ouch.

And that's it. I may well pop back in here over the next couple of days, but if I don't - don't worry, you're all still being saved. Just not for a week or two.

I know full well this board will dry up without my input, so fear not I shall return. Miss me.

Don't abuse children, or else they'll turn out like me.

Kiss a camel? Pfff, you can't even go NEAR a camel - or actually do ANYTHING near the pyramids or the Sphinx without some vermin trying to sell you something. Talk about ruining the majesty of the place. Shouldn't be allowed.

Didn't you think to do some research on things like that before you went? Could have saved you being disappointed/annoyed/whatever. It's a bit like the people who go to Indai and come back whinging that it was hot and crowded (WTF?? )

Egypt is one of the places on my 'I ain't never going there' lists.

Even Saudi comes above Egypt (Ok so it would be a work trip as the company will probs have me going to Saudi sometime soon)

Oh, I already knew it was going to be like that (my parents had been before), but I certainly wasn't going to let some idiot trying to stuff pictures into my hand put me off seeing one of the Wonders of the World.

It does ruin the timeless beauty of the place, though. It means you can't really enjoy being there as much as you'd like, because every ten seconds someone is making "hissing" noises at my wife or shouting "Asda Price."

Still totally recommend it, though. Hell, it's the pyramids, for God's sake. How can you put it on your "ain't never (sic) going there" lists? What, because of some pesky locals? That's a very blinkered view on life.

Err, no it's not. I would say that I was a well travelled individual and Egypt has absolutely no draw on me. The pyramids may be considered as one of the wonders but sorry, they have no appeal to me and Egypt even less. Don't get me wrong, as an Engineer I am impressed by them and I have a great interest in their construction etc but I can do without spending time and money to suffer everything that goes with them.

There are many other places that I would rather go to in my short mortal time on this spinning rock. How I spend that time depends on me and my desires rather than doing something I know I wouldn't enjoy just because it's there.

Now the Aurora Borealis is a true wonder of the world we live on and I would rather spend my time and money on that, then theres Petra, the Galapagos islands, Cappadocia, the great plains of Africa to witness the migrations, the Li River in China, the salt mines of northern Europe, I could go on

So what else puts you off Egypt? The beggars? So what? Look away, say "no thanks", walk on - that's it. They don't try and gang rape you. What else do you have to "suffer?"

Yeah, but I certainly wouldn't let it put me off going to the place, and we plan to go back sometime in the future. It's frustrating, but it's no major deal.

Well there we go.... The thought I might end up in the same place as you would be enough

As I said, there are many many many many many more places I'd rather go than Egypt. Fortunately it's also a territory my employer doesn't work in so they won't be sending me there either.
