Granted, I'll still call you irresponsible, but be honest anyway.

The reason I asked is someone asked this question in another forum I visit, and 69% admitted that they send text messages whilst driving. Most of them seem proud of it.

It`s something I don`t think I could do even if I were inclined to do so. I use my phone through hands free with voice activation (calls only). Done in this way, I honestly don't feel that it is any different from having a conversation with someone in the car.

I never send or look at incoming texts in the car.

Dont text....email yes, text no

Seriously though - No

Phone set on silent so even calls go to voicemail

On another vein - do you answer the phone in the loo (say in a pub or club etc) - This I do NOT do.... and when I notice people doing it in the pub I make sure I flush a loo and then get the blower dryers going... never fails when the person on the other end says "are you talking to me in the loo?"

The ironic thing about life is that no one gets out alive...Huh

No, I don't send text messages whilst driving. Not because of a developed sense of responsibility - more because I wouldn't be able to. I can't multi-task to that extent! I don't even read ones that are sent to me until I've pulled over.

I did once send text messages whilst stuck in a 4 hour tailback on the M25, but I'm not sure that counts because I was most definitely not driving at the time.

I no longer make or take calls whilst driving either, although I admit that I used to do this freely until it became illegal.

And Slipper - no, I do not use my mobile whilst on the toilet.

Reminds me of this joke;
This could happen to you.
I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:
'Hi, how are you?'

I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
'Doin' just fine!'

And the other person says:
'So what are you up to?'

What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
'Uhhh, I'm like you, just travelling!'

At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question.'Can I come over?'

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them
'No.......I'm a little busy right now!!!'
Then I hear the person say nervously...
'Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions.

LOL Seabreeze! I have found myself turning round to answer someone at the bus queue, only to discover that they are chatting on the phone

I have never used my phone while driving and I usually turn it to silent when I do drive, as if I receive a text it keeps beeping until I read it!

There are still a lot of people using their phones when driving though!

No way do I text while driving - at my speed one journey probably wouldn't be enough time to send a message anyway!

I'm reviving more threads!!

No, I don't text while driving. To be honest, I rarely drive and I rarely use my mobile, but if I were driving long distance, I would always turn my phone onto silent or simply turn it off. If I do recieve a text/call while driving and I feel that it's so important that I must answer it, then I will pull over and turn the engine off first.

In fact, I've told people off before for sending me (or others) texts while they've been driving.

Those who can count and those who can't!
