Firefox has a find toolbar that pops up at the bottom of the browser window when you do a Cntrl+F

Trouble is mine also pops up when I type a '

does yours?

Sometin=mes this means if I am typing a reply in SO and hit a ' I find myself in the find box

Any ideas how I can tell firefox to stop it? Or should I just burn my PC?

Mine does it too.
I suggest you ditch the apostrophes and become lazy about your grammar!

Actually, I've just noticed something. When I press the apostrophe sign, the little 'find' toolbar does indeed come up. But when I am typing something in a reply box or something (like I am now) I can press the apostrophe button til the cows come home and the toolbar doesn't appear. It's only when I'm on a page where Iam unable to type anything, if you get what i mean.

It's a shortcut key that you can't easily change. Shouldn't happen when your cursor is in a text box. ' activates "Find links as you type" and will enable you quickly to find hotlinks on a page. / activates "Find text as you type" and will enable you quickly to find text on a page.

Oooo I think I might know this.

I think it might be a case of going to the bottom of the screen and choosing the "Default Boring Style" skin option. I only say this because I was friggin' around the other day and what you're describing happened.

Try it anyway.
