Got them now...bloomin annoying.

Any suggestions of how to get rid of them?

And why do you get them?

I've sorted them out.....by a suggestion from a woman when on holiday in Portugal a few years back - munch on a spoon full of granulated sugar - it works if you catch them quick.

But please continue with any other suggestions.

Hiccups are caused by spasms of the diaphragm which happens if eg. you eat too fast or something.

As for getting rid of them - I have tried everything but nowt seems to work for me. I just have to sit there and wait til they stop. very annoying.

Hiccups....suggestions to get rid off.
I get the hiccups sometimes. They are blummin annoying. I tend to go for months never getting them, and then i will get them daily for about a week !!!

Nothing seems to work for me either. I try to forget i have them, sip a drink - and it normally does the trick. I hate it when they go on ... and on .... and on as i end up feeling really sick.

I'm not perfect, but im so close it scares me

Have someone put a coin in your hand and make you concentrate on it really hard....they should also tell you that if you stop hic-cupping you get to keep the coin!

(this works great on kids!)

Look in a mirror - you'll get such a scare that the hiccups immediately stop - works every time for me:bag:

Get a glass of water, then drink from the other side of the glass until you finish the whole glass in one go.

You have to do this standing up of course, and FINISHING the glass in ONE GO is the key (you can breathe, but keep gulping till all the water is gone). The last bit of water requires some concentration and you end up breathing heavily through your nose as you drain the glass.

Not sure if its the concentration on the drinking, the drinking itself, or the hyper-ventilating through the nose at the end, but it has never failed for me.

How do you drink from the other side of the glass sayangmouse without it all pouring out?

I'm sure the basic principle is the same for yours, mine and Tonee's treatment. I take a mouthful of water, tip my head back and let it run as far down my throat as I possibly can before swallowing in one gulp. It might take a handful of goes, but it never fails for me.

Sometimes I get hiccups from eating stodgy bready things like doughnuts or heavy white rolls.
