Oh God SF - that is a major-league bummer.

I know several people who have been made redundant (my own job is by no means secure) and I struggle to say anything meaningful apart from "I'm sorry to hear that", which just sounds really trite and insincere. But.....I honestly am really sorry to hear that.

I'm not sure what area of business you were in (I'd actually thought you were retired), but somewhere along the line I got the impression that you used to have some role in an IT environment. If so, could you not consider contracting? Iknow several former colleagues who are faring quite well in the contracting world since the economic crisis. Lot's of companies out there need varying levels of IT support, but would rather have a temporary resource than commit to the overhead of a permanent employee at the moment.

Either way, I hope it works out for you.

If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style.

Same here. really sorry to hear that.

sorry off on a bit of a tangent here - but this is what makes me cross when i hear people kicking off cos they have been put on a 4/5 day week to enable their employer to keep functioning - AT LEAST THEY STILL GOT THEIR JOBS!!!

sorry - hope something turns up for you very soon. (I know how expensive kids are!)
