If I had a million pounds...

If I had a million pounds...

I would build an extension on the house, pay off the mortgage, buy myself a new car, buy a laptop and upgrade to Sky HD.

oh yes, and a jet ski.

You?

Buy a house and a car, and think about investing it into a new radio station.

Giving myself a job at the same time, naturally.

Oh, what a lovely thought.

If I won a million squids I'd pay off debts (credit card and mortgage), either move to a larger house or build an extension to the existing one and alter my working hours to 3 days per week. My job lends itself quite well to part time work and I'd use the remaining two days to do something more fulfilling, like voluntary work with disabled kids. I'd love to do that, but with working full time and spending many weekends helping an increasingly frail mother, I just don't have the time.

If there was anything left after that, I'd invest it.

£1 million. It's not a life changing amount these days, but it'd definitely go a long way to giving me options for the improving the quality of life I do have.

If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style.

I think that depends on the sort of person that gets it surely?

It'd be life changing for me!

me too!

it would certainly pay me more than I'm getting now if I divided it by 20 (I've got 20 more years left at work).

... i only came online to visit Delia's site for tips on how to season a frying pan ...

"Not a life changing amount".... Well, that was a bad way to put it really. Of course it would be life changing for most (if not all) of us on here.

What I meant was, its not a sum of money that would mean you would never have a financial worry again. You couldn't retire on that amount these days - not unless you were well into your 50's or 60's. You might be able to buy a home, or improve the one that you already have. It might give you more options and enable you to avoid the usual stresses if the lekkie bill is more than you expected or the boiler blows up.

I suppose I meant that it's not toally "life altering". But yeah, it is life changing. And I wouldn't say "no".

Bet you've said that before :wink2:

I know what you mean. It doesn't mean you never have to get money ever again anymore.

Right?
