From the local paper today, Edinburgh has been named as the Best City in the UK! Well, I for one can't argue with that! Wink

It beat York & Bath, I love York. Never been to Bath but would love to go.

And Scotland also came up trumps as Gleneagles was names as Best Hotel in the UK.

Read all about it here:

Well done Edinburgh! It truly is a brilliant city.
I just wish my town had as good a train link to Edinburgh as it does to Glasgow, then i'd probably spend as much time there as I do in Glasgow.

PS - Wasn't it just a couple of years ago that glasgow was named best city in the UK? I'm sure it was.

Isn't the central belt of scotland a wonderful place Smile

I would broaden that further and say Isn't Scotland just a wonderful place :w00t:

I can't remember if Glasgow was voted top UK or not PJ. I do prefer Glasgow for shopping though, their shops are much better and the fact that it is pedestrianised makes it much easier.

Wasn't Glasgow voted a City of Culture? Isn't that an oxymoron? I'm part Scottish - don't beat me up!

I haven't been to Edinburgh, but it's one place I would love to visit. Bath is beautiful, Bella. You should try and see it if you get the chance. Probably no better than Edinburgh, though, obviously!

Oh, I didn't know you were part Scottish Patsy! You've gone up in my estimations! Wink

Maybe we could have another Edinburgh meet to accomodate the Northern ones among us.

My cousin went to Bath during the summer and absolutely loved it, she said it was very similar to Edinburgh but thoroughly enjoyed it!

PJ, don't tell her! She'll be hiring a hit squad to raid every dentist in your area!

She just doesn't let go, she's like a wee Jack Russell! :ninja:

I don't understand that?? Ah, it's from the Scotsman, that explains it then!

According to another research, Newcastle has been voted the best city in Europe with Glasgow the most crime ridden - but that was in their local paper.

Good 'ere innit!??
