Final resting place for baby Lara

A tiny white casket carried the remains of a baby to her final resting place bringing to an end the latest chapter in her harrowing short life.
Dozens of Cumbria Police officers, who took baby Lara to their hearts, turned out for the small service in St Paul's Church, Seaton, in Cumbria, on Tuesday.

An officer carried the coffin into the church while a small bouquet of flowers from the force said simply: "In memory of Lara - a baby girl who will always be remembered."

The murdered and still unidentified child was then to be buried at St Peter's churchyard in Camerton.

The funeral took place three years to the day since a block of concrete was discovered by a man in his garage in Barepot, near Workington.

Inside lay the remains of a baby girl - a child who it was later discovered had suffered horrific physical and possibly sexual abuse before being entombed alive in the concrete up to 15 years ago.

Police began a painstaking operation of finding out the identity of the baby.

That operation continues, but on Tuesday, Lara was finally laid to rest.

Oh my ... I have just read the link Eternity, it just beggars beleif that someone or more than one could inflict anything as horrendous on another human, let alone a tiny defenceless baby??

Poor little mite - she is in a better place now.

Let us hope that whoever did this will never go to the same place and hopefully will be found out, and inbetween times have a horrible and disturbed, miserable and painful life!

I always cook with wine, and sometimes I actually put it in the food.

Lara was one of the names on our list when I was pregnant with Abbie.

It is heart-breaking and horrific that someone could do this and what is even more sickening is that whoever done it will probably never be found and brought to justice.

Weird story though - the woman neighbour whose DNA linked her to the child but who was shown not to have been the mother.

We had a little girl over here who was found in the freezing cold by the side of the highway and the police tried and tried to find out who she was. She had hardly any clothes on and had just been hurled from a vehicle. The named her Precious Doe and did tons of forensic testing and found out she was horribly abused and hurt in life. A forensic specialist reconstructed her face from clay and made a lifelike bust of her. They but the picture of the bust out all over and after 4 years she was I.D. by her Grandmother who had been something like 4 states away from where she was found. Her name was Erica. The police paid for her funeral and were all glad she was identified but so distraught over her death. Shortly after that mom and her boyfried were located and confessed and supposedly in jail. It's just awful. If children are not going to be something you can care properly, DON'T HAVE THEM OR GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WILL CARE FOR THEM!!!!!! :ranting:

I guess I'm Cornish...
