MP's and their employees.

In the light of the recently broadcast news regarding the fraudulent payments made to Mr Conways Son and a Friend, I think its time all MP'S had to register who they were employing, how long each employee is expected to work and what there salary will be.

Expense accounts should be abolished as MP's should be able to finance the few days they have to spend in parliament per year to warrant such high salaries.

Hello Groucho,

For what little work some MP's do they certainly are overpaid. They also have expense accounts of 250 pounds per week for which they do not need to produce legitimate receipts. Considering they don't have to attend parliament for the days in the year in which parliament is open to discuss legislation etc they don't all turn in either.

Where else can you get paid for doing nothing?

Nice to see you logging in even if it is to tell me you think I'm a crackerjack or other such name.

Hello Groucho

I believe there salary alone can be £60,000. Maybe we'll see you standing soon? We could do with some more mild-mannered figures of authority.

I do think our MP's are over paid for what work they do.

The subject of payrises for our mps has come up in the news of late and it strongly looks like Brown will sanction a 3% rise.

I know 61.820.00 won't be a lot of money to some members of the medical professional slaving in 12 hour / 16 hour days but if you were to consider the work nurses or teachers do, I'd actually value there work more than that of an MP. Cabinet ministers get 138.724.00 salary a year. Brown himself gets 189.994.00 plus 61.820.00 on top.

Whenever, I've watched prime ministers question time which takes you into the house, the so called house is half empty at its fullest and I have watched when only half a dozen have been in.

According to my inside knowledge most of the work done of a parliamentary nature is done by secretaries and the MP is just a figurehead representing each department. The so called Cabinet minister rarely appears. But will for a press conference or other such matter when a face is required.

So Yes I do think MP's are overpaid because they do very little in terms of work.
