My name's Blink (and I drive a Volvo)

If you've been keeping up with the twins' progress then you'll have spotted that I have bought a Volvo. I have come today in an effort to confess and clear my conscience.

Yes, my name is Blink and I own a Volvo. I have owned it for five days now. What started as a fateful decision to investigate the reputedly safe make finally turned into an obsession. Now I am an addict. I might as well admit to it, since the signs of my addiction are plain for everyone to see. I'm only fooling myself if I try to keep it quiet.

I do not know how to overcome this addiction. I got into my car this morning, switched on the heated seats, set the cruise control for 27 mph and trundled into work at my own sweet pace. I felt content, happy, relaxed, exhilerated.

(All right I'm lying about "exhilerated".)

I know that my addiction is anti-social and causes great inconvenience to other drivers. The only thing that gives me relief from my feelings of guilt is my recurring fantasy about buying a trilby.

Yes, the car is safe, stable, near bullet-proof, comfortable, lovely to drive, safe (did I mention that already?) and very spacious. But I know that all these benefits are illusory. I have sold my soul, and can never look another GTI owner in the eye.

Is there any hope for me?

Well Blink its not a Morris Traveller or saloon or convertible.....the big question is, are you the car in front looking at them all behind you as you contine at a safe speed. I am amazed how many want to follow my Morris. Is it a leader of cars...
heated seats you will not need a trilby more like aertex underpant to prevent a warming infertile botty, (got to keep 'em cool to reproduce) mind you that may not be a concern right now.
Your in the Daddy groove stuck for life and loving it! enjoy the volvo.
My family car is a VW Transporter Caravelle its wonderful!

BRAVO BLINK

We have an escort estate car (similar shape), its great for 3 boys and the dog. Its a metallic rose and disgustingly filthy both inside and out. Yours too will be trashed with aplomb in a stylee unique to boys.

I applaud your volvo and all that goes in it.

Maybe you could post us a pic???

I realise that I ought to be in the same club as you, the Volvo Anoymous Owners - although I don't own a volvo - I have always secretly liked them. Mr firend bought one 2 months ago and she looks so swish in hers, but like her, you have two teeny bops to accommodate in safety - and what could be safer than a Sherman Tank in disguise??

Well done Blinkus - do you feel better now that you have confessed??Smile

Blink - I never thought I would see the day when you would own up to owning a Volvo!!!

There is really no hope for you know! Well not for the next few years anyway!

Still you wouldn't want all the mud that comes with 1 boys in your GTI now would you?

Love & hugs to you all and wishing you many safe journeys in your Volvo Smile

I will put my hand up and confess to being a Volvo lover myself. I do like their safety record. I also have a friend who drives one and it is beautiful and very luxurious. If I could own one I would.

Well, I don't have a Volvo but I AM a recent convert to the "boring car" brigade. I always used to have sports car and my last one was a convertible. Frankly they were a pain in the backside as I was always waiting for them to get stolen or damaged, not to mention that I also started to feel like a bit of a pillock driving round in a flash car.

I now have a very boring blue Ford Focus and guess what? - I LOVE IT.

Wouldn't swap it for the world.

Hurrah for boring sensible cars!!

Confession is good for the soul Blink. Your penance is to read three editions of 'Goes like ... off a shovel' Sports Car magazine and buy one Ferrari model which you shall mount on your mantlepiece and look at longingly every day.

Maybe with enough time and support, you can overcome this ghastly condition. Best of luck. Smile
