This is inspired by the baby names topic Cat has insisted we discuss in her thread.

Do you like your own name? What would you have preferred to have been called?

My full name is French & learning to spell it at school was not easy. I SO wanted to be called Ann!

I'm usually thin & gorgeous - today is my day off

I like my first name as it can be shortened to loads of other names- including Bob!
I din't like my middle name [mary] when i was at school as people always asociated this with being a virgin and a member of the God Squad. But I don't mind it at all now.
I don't like my confirmation name as my mother chose it in honour of a old lady from church.
My surname is too long

Jaycee I'm intregued to know what your name is.
Is it Colette by any chance?
We had a Colette in our class at scholl and she was known by the nickname one L and 2 T's as no one could ever spell her name and she kept yelling this at folk

I'd have preferred Colette

no-one ever gets it right - everyone puts Jacqueline. Even my marriage certificate says Jacqueline & I had to send my passport back to be corrected even though I had written Jacquelyn on the form!

I'm happy with my name - at least the shortened version.

My brother, however, was christened Alan - everybody now knows him as Max!

What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

When I used to read Enid Blytons Mallory Towers I was desperate to be called Alicia, I thought it was so classy.

But on the whole I can't complain about my name really, quite comfortable with it.

My real name is Ann (I thought my parents could have at least put an "e" on the end - no middle name either). I hated it and thought it too plain. I wanted to be a "Victoria" or "Vicky" and I envied a girl at school who was called "Zelda" and another called "Rhoda" - much more exotic than plain old Ann.

When I started work there were 5 other Ann's working in the same Department so my boss told me choose another name. I chose Mandy and have been known as Mandy ever since. I liked it when I was younger but now I feel like "the oldest Mandy in Town"
