... i only came online to visit Delia's site for tips on how to season a frying pan ...

lol! I have no idea who Eddie Windass is - but I'm sure he's more fun than a "hunk"!

no success so far really. Probably cos I'm too chicken to actually go the extra step and meet with people. A few have asked but then they say something that makes me think no - thanks! They range from people who want to spend the rest of their lives with me after a few emails through to perverts who ask what colour knickers I'm wearing - with a couple of nice guys in the middle!

I'm tempted to meet one guy who seems decent enough - so who knows!

The site I'm on is Plenty of fish - which is free. Apparently anything goes on there which is why you have to be careful adn why I'm being cautious! Seems that some people just want to meet someone purely to have sex - can you believe that!!!!!! lol!

Will keep you posted!

I do know a few people who have used these sites very successfully. one is married, one is living with the person she met and the last one is in a serious relationship with the person she met.

i did hear that it took a long time for them all to summon up the courage to actally meet the people they were messaging but once you have done it a few times it does get easier. one said the best thing to do is to put a time limit on the first meeting - so say for example "i can only meet for half an hour for coffee" that way there is no akward trying to get out of the meeting if you hate him, but you can always arrange another meet quite quickly if you do like him

whatever you do Good Luck!!

some good (and heartwarming) information there Buzz!

glad that those three people met someone they thought they could gel with.

I've just had to kick the "guy who seems quite decent" into touch - cos - well it turns out he wasn't so decent and it didn't take much for his true nature to come thru! I mean who gets their tits out on webcam for a stranger?! and why would anyone think anyone would?! I suppose if you ask 1000 people and only one says yes it's still a result!!!

I am chatting to a very nice man actually, but he is only on the site to meet people to chat to on msn - he did state that quite clearly but I was new the site and didn't check it properly. Oh well - I'm hooked into him now and you never know he might change his mind!!! In the meantime I'm enjoying the banter!

So ILS - how did your mates get on? any good stories?

I've never tried it I'm afraid Dolly, but have you thought about joining a (respectable!) site with a membership fee?

I can imagine that it would put some of the scary people off, and you would be left with genuine ones? I'm sure I saw somewhere a while ago that match.com were running an offer where you get a refund if you don't find somebody.

Not 100% confident though....

You're not born lazy, it's an acquired skill

No stories as such, they are still looking for 'Mr Right' but they seem to be having fun doing so!
