Ruby in the Smoke

Anyone see this last night? I thought it was terrific. Great cast, fab acting, wonderful adaptation of a well written book, and the victorian sets were out of this world. I really felt as if we'd been transported back in time to the late 1800s.

Julie Walters was vile as Mrs Holland, even though the odd bit of brummy kept creeping into her cockernee accent.

I wanted to watch it - but forgot it was on - d'oh!

I hope it is repeated - does anyone know if it's going to be repeated?

I have to be honest, I got bored by this and fell asleep. I was really looking forward to it too.

I think it was Billie Piper in the main lead. She didn't look like a very authentic Victorian heroine. Her features are too big. Plus, her big black eyebrows clashed with her big blonde hair and it put me off.

I found this really slow and I agree Fig, that the big black eyebrows next to the blonde hair was really off putting.

I watched this for about an hour and just didn't get it - switched off and watched the Vicar of Dibley which was hilarous!
