SO News people - volunteers wanted

The new set up of the site enables anyone with sufficient priviledges to post content/news to the main pages of the site. I want to recruit some volunteers to add news items to the site.

It would just be a question of finding relevant news stories.... could be tv, film or book related or something else like a latest fad. The articles/news snippet could be about anything that you think the SO community would be interested in. You will then have to rewrite it in your own words and then post to the relevant category.

If you're feeling really dedicated, you could also create a thread about it in the forums and have a link from the news story to the discussion thread.
I realise that there is a time issue, but it should only require about 5 of us to post one item a week. (Minklemar has already volunteered.) It will really help the site.

You don't have to be a journalist, but being a good speller is an advantage.

Please remember that this is purely voluntary.

What do you think? Are you interested in helping the site and having something extra to put on your cv? Wink

I'd be very happy to write an occasional item Haydon, but I feel obliged to make it clear, I only really have one style and that's to take the p!ss.

I think I can do it without upsetting too many people, but it's your call and I cant promise to keep your name out of the content.

I think I could amuse at least 97.4% of the membership, which is probably enough to keep most communities happy! :angel_not

It may carry more gravitas if you gave me a special title!

I have very little of interest to say, as you know, but I would be very interested in picking apart, erm.... reading anyone elses missives.

Groucho - thanks for stepping forward. The news items/articles will be about latest films, tv shows and stuff that's in the general News. I'm not generally in the news or star in any films, so I can't see how your going to get my name into the content. Unless of course you're going to liken my good looks to some hunk actor!
You can take the p out of tv shows and celebs no problem. (Although be aware I don't want any libel lawsuits coming my way!)

There are various group options available for posting news to the main part of the site. The two groups are Editors and Publishers. (there is your special title).

Patsy - ok thanks. Anyone accessing the site will be able to read what goes onto the site. Are you saying you want to be some sort of proof reader?
