Sound troubles

Hiya,

I can't play any sound on my computer. In device manager it says that C-Media AC97 Audio Device cannot start. What exactly is this and what could be causing it?

Thanks Smile

I haven't clue! But whenever I have pc problems, I copy the error message into google and normally find some geek forum with an answer :bag:

C-Media is the company that made your soundcard, Ziggy. You could try removing the device drivers and re-installing. NB C-Media supplies a program to remove the device drivers, and this is what you must run - don't just use the device manager to remove them.

C-Media's website is the best place for updated drivers, although it's a frightening sluggish website. Don't even think about trying to download from there unless you're on a permanent connection (broadband, etc.).
