The things that people say about themselves....

I HATE it when people say the following phrases, or variations of:

"I'm mad I am a right nutter" .... yawn! I translate this to prick of the highest order who bores the pants of everyone!

"I can read people, I'm never wrong about them, I'm a good judge of character" .... oh yea gods! this translates as "I'm always right, I NEVER change my opinion, first impressions matter, my word is law, I will never admit I was wrong"

So what poxy phrases do you hate to hear of others?

... another of mine is "I'm a bubbly personality" ... direct translation: I'm a complete tit.

ooh good one Dolores.

The one that gets my goat without fail is:

"I swear on my mothers/childs life"

GGGRRRRRRRRR any one who says this to me is immediately classed as a pillock.

"Bring me solutions, not problems" and "I hear what you're saying, but..." have me grinding my teeth, as does a certain person spouting "ff...AAAB...ulous!" at every opportunity. Grrr!

Nice one, Dolores. Have you ever heard anyone admit they're a poor judge of character? I've modified mine to 'Well, I know burgher all about character, but I knows what I likes.' Equally offensive, probably.

There are some stock phrases that trainee Tarot readers are taught, which work on virtually anybody. By definition, if any person utters these phrases about themself, thinking they are making some deep, meaningful statement about their life, they are a total prat:

"I have the potential to do more with my life than I am doing at the moment".
"There are some dreams I haven't realised yet".
"I sometimes hide my true feelings from those around me".
"I really can't bear people who are selfish".
"I can't stand people who lie and cheat".
"I have been hurt in life".

Yes, you and the rest of the known Universe bozo - get over yourself!!

I'm with you Dol on the 'I'm mad/crazy/zany' thing, can't stand it when people say that.

Also don't like women describing themselves as ditzy or dippy and pretending they need a man to help when do something.

People who say they are discrete and then blab to all and sundry...why not just admit you like a good gossip like the rest of us?

People who say: I don't wish to be patronising but...(and they then patronise you - if you don't want to patronise, keep your gob shut)

People who say "like" after virtually every word. As in "I'm so, like, you know, over that relationship, like, I just want to, like move on.." Yes, move onto a course in how to speak properly, fart-breath.

Virtual strangers who call me "mate" when I am nothing of the sort.
