What is the most out of date product in your cupboard?

It's that time of year when I get the baking urge. It's about now that I discover the weevils in the flour and the out of date products that have been sitting in my cupboards year after year!

The winner in my cupboard is:

Madras Curry Powder with a best by date of April 2002!

Closely followed by:

Sesame Seeds with a best by date of Sept 2003

and an assortment of packets of sultanas, currants and raisins from August 2004.

So come on have a rifle through and see if you can beat any of that!

... i only came online to visit Delia's site for tips on how to season a frying pan ...

I am so funny about sell by and use by dates. I throw everything, even cans out when they are past the date stamped on them. Although I know that cans of food can be ok for years, it's just the nutritional value decreases. I just guess it's a thing with me.

Shame on you Dol.

I think for once in my life I'm going to win something!

If I had a digital camera I'd take a picture of my curry jar!

Nah, I think I'll be nice and spare you the gory details.

Back on topic. They found nothing in me past it's sell by date. Ooops I mean I have nothing that is past it's sell by date.

Hmmm...well the proof of this claim has long since gone to the great compost heap in the sky but, when we were clearing the kitchen cupboards out when doing the extension, we did discover a tub of mixed dried peel with best before of 1996 on it (this was in 2003!!).

Delia Smith I'll never be
