Windows being bad

Hey,

Computer has gone funny recently. Randomly the screen went completely blue with white writing and at the top it said 'kernal_data_inpage_error'. At the bottom it said it was dumping physical memory or something to that effect. Then when it restarted it said I had to reactivate windows, so I had to phone up and get my product ID. All was well. Then today when I turn on my PC I get the same message saying I have to recativate windows before it can load and I went through the whole palava again. Surely I have already activated windows? Why do I keep having to reactivate?

Thanks for any help. Always is appreciated Smile

Oh dear.

The KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR is probably caused by a hardware problem (in the hard drive subsystem). Windows stores "virtual memory" on the hard drive, and it looks like access to this has been compromised.

Here are a couple of Microsoft articles for you to wade through:

Article 1
Article 2

Recommend you do a scandisk (or in a command prompt in XP, 'chkdsk /f /r') and check your hard drive cabling.
