birthday pressie ideas

It's Mrs Dab's birthday in a couple of weeks - and I'm completely stumped. I don't have a clue what to get her. I gave her an oil painting of an African elephant (her favourite animal) at Christmas, and it still isn't framed yet. So I thought about getting that done, but that's a dismal pressie, isn't it? Ornaments are out, as are paintings and prints. Too many of them knocking around already.

So I've come here to ask for your ideas, please. Can you help a thick bloke out? I have about fifty quid to spend. Thanks. Smile

I know a divorce lawyer who'll do you a voucher...

But seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with a luxury - an aromatherapy massage or somethinglike.

Dab, this is my biggest nightmare - buying presents for folk. I abhor it and I'm rubbish at it.
Re Mrs Dab, I was going to say something along the lines of what Fee said - like a massage or a day at a health spa or something. I know these are things that my mum would like (and Im assuming they are around the same age here...)

pampering idea sounds good!

or if shes into make up and smellies and stuff you could get her a nice bag and fill it with her fave moisturisers and bits and bobs of make up. very thoughtful and shows that you put time and effort into choosing each wee thing.

kookycat? she makes exceedingly good posts

Pampering dab...as and when she wants it - with a bunch of flowers and a card on the day.

Can't fail.

Thanks everyone! Pampering it is.

So, do you go on your own to these things, or should I buy a ticket for two so she can take a friend? What's the drill, girls?

I think if you have a local Beauty Salon Dab, then it's usually a one person thing. A voucher is a good idea. £50 would get a really nice facial, or maybe back and Indian Head Massage, or manicure and pedicure, or combinations of things. Then Mrs. Dab can choose when and what she has.

If you go for one of those Pampering Days at a Health Spa they can be a bit daunting (and expensive) and I was glad that my son's girlfriend came with me when I went. It was really lovely but being very practical I couldn't help thinking that he paid for the name and that I could have had a lot more actual hands on pampering at the local Salon (cheaper) whereas a lot of my Spa Day was spent just lounging around or in the swimming pool.
