'Odd Thomas' by Dean Koontz. It will be in the horror section in book stores but it definately isn't scary. It's about a guy who can see dead people. It was a brilliant read. I loved it.

Where are you going, may I ask?

Kooks, I recently read The Kiterunner by Khaled Hosseini and have to say it was one of the best books I have read in ages.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kite-Runner-Khal...&s=gateway

It was chosen by someone in my bookgroup that I go to and have to say when I read the back of it, I didn't think much of it but it really is a very good book. It is thw writer's first book and I am considering reading his other book about the women of Afghanistan, I think you will really enjoy this one!

If you want something inspirinig read Life & Limb by Jamie Andrew about when he & his friend got trapped in the Alps, it is a true story and had both funny & very emotional moments. I loved this book!

Another one I loved was The Time Traveller's Wife but I do know a few people that didn't enjoy this.

And I also read The Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, it is quite a big book but you'll probably read it quickly as I just couldn't put it down. Again, I really enjoyed this one.

I like anything by Carol Smith, her books are real page turners and are thrillers (dont know if that would come under crime)

I find Marian Keyes light reading - bit rubbishy girlie stories but amusing, also any thing by Patrician Scanlan.

I know but it's not scarey! Honestly, you'll like it.

ooh thanx all, i think i may try the labyrinth one. or i'll go and read the back of pjs one and see if it takes my fancy. bella, ive already read the time travellers wife, to begin with i thought its pretty tough going coz it took me a while to get the concept of what was happening. thought it was a bit paedophilic to begin with. but after that i quite enjoyed it and a few tears were had once id finished!!!!!
