Haydon - just curious - any idea why quotes are somentimes showwn as html code, as in this example?

It sometimes happens on my school website when I paste in from notepad - not always though

Well I normally see this happening when pasting from Word. Haven't seen it with Notepad.

Word has all sorts of formating code going on behind the scenes. If you're copying from Word into Notepad first, I guess it could sometimes copy code across.

"testing""testing"“testing this one”

It seems be different quotation marks/characters that are displayed when copying from Word into Notepad.

That would explain it, the ones I had trouble with are where I pasted from Word into notepad.

Maybe there's some way of saving from Word without all the formatting stuff being retained?

Not as far as I'm aware. I know in OpenOffice there is the ability to "paste special" which enables you to paste without formatting. Word must have something similar, but it's not on this pc for me to check.

Word allows you to save as .txt file. Which should effectively save it without formatting. But I don't think there is a way to copy without formatting.
