three lightbulbs

so, there are 3 lightbulbs in room with a closed door, outside the room are three switches, all off. your task is to find out which switch operates which lightbulb. you can fiddle with the switches but you can only open the door and go in the room once.

I know the answer to this :nerd:

I won't spoil it.

You're not born lazy, it's an acquired skill

Open the door. Go in the room. With the door still open, stick your arm round the wall to the switch outside and fiddle to your heart's content :ninja:

Why would I be disqualified? It's a perfectly valid answer. Boo :bag:

Don't tell me anything yet, I have another theory.

Call your mate, put them in the room, shut the door, then communicate the results of your switchings via the medium of shouting.

you have to bear with me and accept there's one bit of switch fiddling, then you open the door and go in the room and check the bulbs, no reaching back out again, no enlisting your pals, animals, robots, no windows, drilling holes in the wall, two way mirrors, smoke alarms, internet radio or helpful pixies

There's clearly no room in your world for innovation or imagination and frankly, I want no part of it.

Right turn on one switch, wait a minute, then turn on one other. Go straight into the room.

The switch you didn't flick operates the bulb that's off.

Then feel the other two lightbulbs. The hot one is operated by the switch you flicked first, the cool one is operated by the switch you flicked just before you went into the room.

Ha! Find fault with that Mr Kiljoy. :assshake:

i'll try, you're feeling two lit lightbulbs looking for a cool one, I reckon they'd both be hot, but otherwise seems like a good answer
