Cat 18-01-2005, 06:38 AM I've selected Jaws....how long can I keep it for and being a new member do I get a free packet of popcorn to enjoy??? I loved the first Jaws - best of the lot (how many were made in the end), can watch it again and again. Coastie 18-01-2005, 09:11 AM I'd rent them all bar - Dazed and Confused and National Lampoons Vacation! Oh and Alien as that scares me and I am a wimp! Crystal Lights 18-01-2005, 09:13 AM Thats so wierd I just mentioned Planes Trains and Automobiles in another thread of yours without seeing this one Woodstock! So anyways I am renting that movie as it is funny, sweet and all round good movie with great performances from John Candy and Steve Martin! I rented Jaws too as you cant beat it as an all time classic show! For my final one i've chosen Apocalypse now as I've never seen it and i've heard its a classic! Woodstock 18-01-2005, 12:26 PM I've selected Jaws....how long can I keep it for and being a new member do I get a free packet of popcorn to enjoy??? I loved the first Jaws - best of the lot (how many were made in the end), can watch it again and again. Excellent choice! - if I do say so. Three day rental and no popcorn - what on earth do you think I am here....a cinema outlet?? I think they made four (one was 3D) Jaws II was ok - after that they lost the Spielberg influence. floopy 18-01-2005, 12:36 PM Do you have anything a bit more, erm, adult? Woodstock 18-01-2005, 12:43 PM I'd rent them all bar - Dazed and Confused and National Lampoons Vacation! ......you....don't....like.....Dazed and Confused?? It's a cult film......a cult film, you hear! I can watch that film just for the soundtrack alone. I'm amazed! - gonna have to close down the shop for a wee while..... And it's required by moviegoing law that everyone should like Vacation. You amaze me. I love Alien (who doesn't) but the one and possibly only thing that irks me about the movie is how the culmination of the "Dallas in the tunnel/shaft scene" unravels - and just how crummy the Alien looks and the manner in which it surprises Dallas by doing the arm thrust (here I am to get you) thing. Looks so human-like. Shame ils 18-01-2005, 12:50 PM You haven't got an option 'none of the above' :( Woodstock 18-01-2005, 12:54 PM Thats so wierd I just mentioned Planes Trains and Automobiles in another thread of yours without seeing this one Woodstock! So anyways I am renting that movie as it is funny, sweet and all round good movie with great performances from John Candy and Steve Martin! For my final one i've chosen Apocalypse now as I've never seen it and i've heard its a classic! Yes, Planes, Trains, and Automobobs is a great feel good movie. I'm not normally one to turn on the waterworks when watching films but I always get a little teardrop trickling down my cheeks as soon as Page turns back on his train journey home and discovers Del has nowhere to go. That scene is possibly my favourite from any film - most certainly from any John Hughes movie anyway. (I think only the closing scenes of Titanic and perhaps one or two scenes from Watership Down have ever touched me in such a way) Fantastic film P,T, & A. ....you....haven't.....seen.....Apocalypse Now??? Two shocks in one day is quite enough!! (he goes away to twist the "closed" sign around) A true work of art. Not one of the more action-packed 'Nam movies but scores highly on artistic style. Charlie Sheen narrates Platoon, his father Martin does the same with this film, and although I'm not crazy about narratives, it seems to work splendidly on ApocNow...both films in fact. There is a redux (don't ask....'cos I don't know) version of ApocNow which includes extra footage (a wonderfully boring scene around the middle parts of the film) Maybe redux is french for tampered with.... Woodstock 18-01-2005, 01:07 PM Do you have anything a bit more, erm, adult? what did you have in mind floop?....here....come round the back. Woodstock 18-01-2005, 01:10 PM You haven't got an option 'none of the above' :( ......hmmm. Woodstock 18-01-2005, 01:44 PM Have got anything that was made AFTER 1990?????? thats a bit more, errr, ummmm, as me old mate Floops says......adult! Well, okay......what can I say, I like my 80's stuff - films, music  I think there are a few adult films in there, and Dazed and Confused was 1993 if I'm not mistaken. It's not an exhaustive list of movies we have available at Woodstock's video store. May I suggest you return in a few days time and we may have a little more to offer.
