Has anyone else got hooked on this bit of nonsense. It's on after Countdown (4pm Channel 4) and I watched it last week.

It's 5 odd assortment of people who all cook a meal for each other each night of the week and the others give them marks out of 10 for the food and the ambience.

The winner gets £1,000. Strange that they vote for each other cos you would think they would all mark each other very low in order to get the highest score but they do seem to be fairly honest I think.

I found it quite amusing watching their triumphs and disasters in the kitchen, also the cheating! The woman who won last week bought her starters in M & S! Just opened a packet of soup and boiled some fresh pasta - lol. She read up on how to make pasta and when asked about it she lied through her teeth that she had made it herself.

I thought the Reverend was kinda "seedy" too. Thought Eeeeeew when one of the guests whispered that she had found a cat hair on her dessert!

One woman treated them to herself singing opera after the meal.

I thought it was just for 1 week but they started another this week so I am hooked.

It's very lightweight and undemanding but I like it, probably because I am useless in the kitchen and I like watching other people "flap"

Ooh, they had something similar to this on Scottish TV once, it was called 7.30 for 8 and each person had their turn to have dinner. There were 3 couples and 2 singles hence the 8 in the title. They came from all different backgrounds - the single lady was a bit of socialite, the single man was Italian, or was he Greek eeek, I can't remember, there was a slighlty ecentric married couple, a lovely gay couple and then your couple who complain about everything.....well, the hubby did! He didn't like gays but at the end of the series he was best mates with the gay couple, didn't like snobs, he had a cross to bear with the single guy as he supported Celtic and the complaining man was an out & out Rangers fan. So much so he even had Rangers wallpaper, I kid you not!! He was very much a smoker, so when the eccentric couple banned smoking from their house, he just didn't turn up. He was very cringeworthy as when they had dinner had at their house, one of the guest complained that the wine was corked and he answered that all the wine he bought had corks and he wasn't didn't want to buy the cheap stuff! It was very entertaining and like you Critique I was hooked.

Oh is that what the premise of the programme was Nitty?? I caught the back end of it and only saw the results being read out - Mr F managed to mention that the woman who won had an ample cleavage and was showing it off to its best abilities.

But I did wonder what they had all done to get scored - I wasn't aware it was cooking - well yes I shall keep an eye out for it. Cheers!!

I watched the one with the woman who was cheating, and I'd give her 10/10 for effort (at cheating)... it was quite an enjoyable programee... poking around each others houses and stuff, heh.

Oh did you see it yesterday??

I felt so sorry for the 'host' - not only did he forget to sear the fillet, before assembling his Wellingtons - but that woman didn't like foix gras?? Honestly - you would think she would just eat it, and shut up or at least dissect it herself - rather than whingeing and moaning, making the bloke take it away and remove the offending foix gras himself??

So she [clevage fetish lady] is still in the lead - am I right??

I loved his starter - scallops wrapped in parma ham skewered with a rosemary stick!! Yum yum bubble gum!

Today's lady was strange wasn't she? For a start she didn't have the furniture show-room type home - in fact it was very cramped and messy (I liked her at once for that - hahaha).

She did some pancakes with red caviar thingy for starters, then got one of the male guests to light the Barbecue and he nearly lost his eyebrows! and he seemed to do the cooking out in the rain. Then they complained that the prawn and chicken wasn't cooked properly so he had to go and put it all back on the barbecue!

The chocolate mousse thing went down well but the impromptu entertainment was a bit tacky (sort of stripper - not sure how far she went cos they didn't show it all - lol) and the guests were quite divided about whether it was appropriate or not. All things considered I think they were pretty generous with her score :)

Oh, I have started watching this, this week! What a strange mix of people! Pippa - well I doubt anything would make her happy. Vera - OMG she was very lucky to get 13 points and same could be said of today's contender, can't even remember his name!

Let's say you were having 5 members from SO round for dinner, what would you cook them?

I missed a whole week's worth last week cos I was in Wales and it was on at 1.30 and we were either out or forgot about it.

Hope it's on again this week. Would get up and check the TV Guide but can't be bothered - oh all right then I will, hang on ..........Yes!

"An Office Manager serves up the first of the final week's meals with 10 different dishes on the menu" !!!! Cor - gotta see that :)

Critique you missed Princess Pippa complete with tiara and naked painting of herself (she was a bit of the large side, so it took up a complete wall!) who made one of her guests stand outside in the freezing cold as she arrived 10 minutes too early!!!! She was gutted to find that she had finished second last! Oh, she was just the most horrendous woman on telly, somehow I can see her ending up on Celeb Fit Club or something like that!

Awww Bella - I had to laugh at that. If Pippa only came 2nd to last after what you told me about her and leaving her guest out in the cold for 10 minutes, then do tell me what the person who came last did?

Bella

Critique it was their cooking, I am afraid. I only caught the end of the first one who was Vera, a school dinner lady and unfortunately her school dinner menu didn't go down too well! Stuart laid on a curry meal with all the ingredients you would normally have for breakfast ie, eggs, sausages, bacon etc. They both came joint last and deserved it too, although I would have loved if Princess Pippa (who really thought she was going to win) had come bottom. Oh, she were awful!

Critique - are you watching this? The Essex girl with hardly any clothes and the sticky out nipples, she has been on something before. I recognise her, what a mixed bunch eh?

Just to say I don't think she is from Essex, it was just the way she dressed. So apologies to any girl from Essex!

Thanks for the update Bella, sounds like I missed a good week - lol. The curry sounded disgusting - lol. I enjoy it more when things go wrong.

I missed the first 10 minutes today cos I got sidetracked but it felt more like I had missed most of it because by the time I got to watch they were all arriving so I didn't see the preparation or anything. They are a funny mixed bunch this week aren't they :) She was a bit "tarty" that one in the mini skirt. I wouldn't like a bunch of strangers poking round my drawers ;) Be interesting to see how it progresses. :)

I am sooooo going to miss this program now im a working girl again. I have been addicted for the last 3 weeks. I wish it were repeated in the evenings or over the weekend.

Who knows, maybe its been so popular that they might put it on primetime TV ????

Where are you going to be working about Bonny?

It was good tonight, the guy David was such a showman wasn't he? The girl Sarah is still bugging me as I am sure I recognise her from some other show - Bonny, Critique - do you recognise her? btw - I thought Sarah was a bit off only giving the girl last night a 4. It looks as if it will be fun tomorrow when Sarah takes to the kitchen!!

Done a bit of searching and discovered that Sarah is in fact a stuntwoman and appeared in The World is Not Enough, she does power-boat racing and is a model! She almost died whilst doing one of her stunts, so maybe not as much a bimbo as she looks! I just wish I could remember where I have seen her before................ :glare:

Oh and Bonnie, it looks like this week is the last week........I do hope they return for another series. I have only watched the last 2 weeks but really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed it today too. He was just too much wasn't he but that fried bread thingy he did looked delicious (and deadly fattening - groan).

It sure is a shame it's ending and I do hope they do another series. I'm hooked, even set the kitchen timer so I don't forget it - lol. There's nothing like seeing human nature at work - hehehe.

I think, bearing in mind they are all trying to outdo each other and win the money, some of them are being very generous with their marks and others are playing a clever game by marking low so they haven't got much to beat.

At least Miss Nipples looked more subdued today. :) I didn't recognise her at all Bella but well done for finding out about her - as you say, maybe not such a bimbo as she seemed.

Critique

Well you've got to hand it to her. She's no bimbo in the kitchen. One of those lucky people who can just throw stuff in a pot, mix it all up and come up with something great - even veggie Rocky enjoyed herself. She deserved more points for the amount of work she put into it. :) Shame about the "hubble-bubble pipe" not going down too well though - cost her some points.

Roll on 4 pm :) (I can't believe I just typed that - what does it say about my life?)

Bella

My first impression of Sarah was OMG, but you know what I really like her! She is fun and energentic and aims to please. She has the figure for the clothes she is wearing so why not!? The pipe thing was a bit amibitious, not too sure if I would have tried it, but it must be legal so you never know. We are having a dinner party on Saturday, but I think we will give the hubba bubba pipe a miss!!

I just loved Sarah and her approach to dining and dinner! She was great and she wasn't a man's woman she was a woman's woman - if you know what I mean. She made solid friends with Rocky and out of all of the women I suspected Rocky would be the most difficult to overcome.

Sarah's food looked tremendous - far too much of course, but I loved the informal approach.

I am trying not to say it - but r ... o...l ... l.... ....o .... n ... ....4 ....p...m... getting as bad as you Critique.

So Rocky is in the lead with the simplest of dinners, she was very relaxed. Sarah, is very much a woman's woman Flip, I think she would be great on a girlie night out and David is just pompous, stuck-up old fool!!! Oh, I would hate to have someone like that for dinner, God know what he would think of big bottle of Red from Tescos!!!!

It will be the last one tomorrow, I am really going to miss this show - can't believe that I have just said that either!

Flip, I would love to see enter for this show - go on, go on, you know you want to!!! Mr F could do his scab-eating party piece, I am sure you receive a big fat 10 for that!!

Oh God I just want to punch that pompous old, malignant slime of a wine buff - Oh Ihope he drowns in it!!!

Funnily enough I was just saying to Mr F tonight - I would so love to go on this programme. If Mr F did a party peice of scab eating variety - no doubt I would make all my guest puke from here to kingdom come and come last and not win the 1000 nicker!!

But I would like to do it - for no other reason of having a dinner party for 5 nights in a row!! HOw exciting? So Bella is it really the last one this week?? God I am going to miss this big time! Yeah I said it AND PROUD!!!! :wink2:

According to the website, it only shows 4 weeks, so I assume that this week will be the last. On that note, can I just say thanks to Critique for bringing this little gem to my attention, otherwise I would never have switched it on to watch! So thanks sweetie! :)

Lol - you're welcome Bella. I thought I would be the only "saddo" to be interested in it so it's nice to have some more folks to share it with :)

I'm not sure though but I thought they said that by Sarah giving the extra point eight she unwittingly pushed Rocky ahead of her own score but I hate to say it but I thought Mr. Stuck-up pompous ass was still in the lead cos his score was still red. Well I hope the final contestant - Mr. I'm a Bad Boy - comes up with something spectacular because although I don't particularly like him, I can't stand the other one.

What will I do at 4pm after tomorrow

They must do a new series soon :)

Duh, you are right Critique, I thought they had said that by Sarah giving the extra point eight that Rocky moved into the lead, but yeah Mr Pompous So Up His Own Ar*e is still in the lead. Like you, I really don't want the Magician guy to win but I would rather have him than Mr Wino!

Grrrrrrr! He won :( And all because the magician pulled that silly stunt with the wine delivery. I'm sure that was just to try and impress or put the pompous ass down but it just made him look stupid.

Still, good news, a new series later on in the year. Bet it will have been on for 3 weeks before I notice it though.

Sorry Flip, I don't see how we would ever get the facts without talking to Mr. Magic personally but in my humble opinion it was definitely no co-incidence. I am wondering, though, whether it was a tongue-in-cheek thing to bring Mr. Pompous down and just maybe he thought the other guests would enjoy the joke on him too but whatever the motive it did badly misfire. :)

It's brilliant Buzz - a great mix of people and good seeing how some flap, some cheat and some are just so devious  It was on for about 4 weeks I think. I'm looking forward to the next series. (Might even watch the repeats if it doesn't clash with anything else)

I watched a back to back afternoon of this on More 4 last weekend - I couldn't tear myself away from the tv - it was spell binding!

I fear they are all repeats though so probably nothing new worth discussing and (sob) I notice that most of the posts in the thread are posted by those who no longer post (sob).

I'd quite like to go on this programme actually! they could have whatever they liked from Dominos! But bagsy I go first - I couldn't bear the tension and competition of having to "up" my game as each evening goes by!

I used to love this programme. I enjoy looking round people houses and then seeing how the others react to things they have.

Some of the food look lovely and most people did it all from scratch. I remember one lady who bought all her food at Selfridges and then passed it off as her own.
