View Full Version : American Idol
Oh yes! Here we go again. Another fix for the idol fanatic amongst us with the fourth series of American Idol.
We're at the beginning of the audition stages and they don't disappoint.
If you watched the British version of Pop Idol and thought the auditionees had delusions of grandeur, then you're in for a surprise. The confidence that the some of the American auditionees display without being able to sing a single note in tune is mind-boggling. Whether they've been told they can sing by members of their family, friends, God or the voices in their head they have ultimate faith that they will not only go forward to the next round but become crowned supreme idol. Their disappointment as the judges sit in bewildered silence not knowing quite where to begin the critique, is hilarious.
So far, I've liked the guy who sang Isn't she Lovely who the judges likened to Minni Vanillia but with a voice, and the girl from the farm who sang in the country and western style.
I didn't go a bundle on the singing teacher. I thought the verses were a bit of a mess.
I was surprised the judges didn't give the triplet who they picked out as having the best voice a chance to sing on her own, unless they did and we just didn't hear it. I thought the overall effect of the threesome was very good, so at least one of them must have had a good voice.
And if you missed any of this it is repeated on Sunday at 8pm on ITV2!!
Noxy - it is absolutely brilliant - I loved Adam and Dirk [shoulda been Dork] classic couple!!
Watch people it is hilarious, nay hysterical ...
Crystal Lights 24-01-2005, 05:05 PM I have to say I am shamefully addicted to American Idol - i say shamefully because i reckon half the people they put on this show have serious mental issues. You thought the Chicken Factory guy ws disturbed - you haven't seen anything untill you see the American version - they're mad!!
Seriously the girl -i dunno what song she sang but she had blond hair in a bob and was doing all these wierds dance moves and sang in a wierd voice. She then said she had loads of voices telling her what way to sing etc. Then she started saying they're telling me Paula's pretty, Randy's thinner then i thought etc... now that may have been for the camera but when she got outside she was seriously distraught that not one of them thought she was a goood singer and she was like "i will not cry", she was practically slapping herslef a la Annette Benning in American Beauty.
She is the one that most comes to mind but at least half the contestants i saw on that first show seemed really really disturbed.

.By my oh my compulsive viewing - so much so I had to watch the repeat of this looper - I would not like to meet Miss Blue Eyes down a dark alley - god was she scarey???
One of the other loons was Mr 'Purple and I can hold a note for about 4 hours' - who sang 'The sun will come out tomorrow -w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w-w, tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow, its only a day away-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y -y-y-y-y-y-y-y- y-y-y-y-y--y y-y-y-y-y--y-y-y-y-y- y-y-y-y--y- y-y-y--y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y- y-y-y-y-y y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y- y-y-y- y-y-y-y-y--y-y- y-y-y-y--y -y-y-y- y-y-y-y- y-y-y--y-y-y -y-y- y-y-y-'
Good wasn't he??:ninja:
I saw this girl too...my iron stopped mid steam, my mouth ajar. She was totally bonkers...loved it when they played the Psycho shower knifing music as she walked away.
Lovin it large indeed.
I just love this programme, almost as much as I love Pop Idol!
How some of these people think they have it - when they so obviously don't, is just so unbelievable!
Crystal Lights 24-01-2005, 06:25 PM Compulsive veiwing it is indeed!
And how annoying are some of them!!!
Did you see the singing teacher (large, loud woman, fairly good voice) and her cute bout 18 year old protoge, both of them auditioned.
Anyways large loud singing teacher woman gets through, fair play and then her young protoge tries who imo was very good and seemed like a really sweet kid gets rejected so he comes out really gutted as he was without a doubt a good singer and then your one goes absolutely hysterical "oh my god i did it for him, he should have been the one not me" she is crying hsyterically, screaming why me why me etc while the young lad tries to calm her (em hello who got rejected here??!!) and the attention seeking muppet literally and i mean literally collapses in a heap in the corner screaming hysterically.
Americans......sigh.....
I watched this last night and they skipped two of the audtions, jumping forward to the judges comments which were all glowing without allowing us to hear the actual singing. It was frustrating.
You'd think ITV2 would alter the time slot to allow us to view the whole program, or at the very least cut out those two auditions altogether so we were none the wiser.
Nox I actually find the Sunday night a better watch - there is less to clash with [IMO] [although Ahead of the Class is on this sunday night at 9pm]. But as a rule - the programmes just run one after the other - and I seem to think that they show more - it maybe my imagination though?
I won't see it tomorrow night Flip. The two programmes are run back to back on Friday as you mentioned, but there seemed to be a problem with the timing i.e. not all the auditions got included in the final UK cut.
Can you report back on whether one or more of the auditions gets passed over with only the judgement shown. If they don't then I'll give up watching Friday's version and record Sundays.

They still cut the same auditions - ***** annoying seeing as they had such glowing comments. Saving the best bits for another show I imagine
Shark_Attacks 01-02-2005, 07:48 AM Who is the new judge on it?
Who is the new judge on it?
Zigs they have guest judges - the first two shows they had Mark [oo and I want to say Lamarr - but it wasn't - I simply cannot remember his surname]. Anyway next week I think it is LL cool J as the guest judge!
Is it me or do are the British getting the abridged version of American Idol?
Three locations crammed into one and a half hours, can that be right? Islandman have you been watching this? Is each city given an hour's airtime in the US?
I noticed this evening that Ryan Seacrest would say his piece which would naturally lead to another segment, but us British viewers were zipped off to a much later section. Yet again one audition was missed out entirely as the large lady with the glasses was passed over and all we heard were the glowing judges comments but not her actual singing.
Orlando consisted of two or three auditions, but I'm sure there must have been more to it than that.
IMO the judges had lowered their standards in one city. I was staggered that the guy who they likened to Freddie Mercury got through.
Coastie 05-02-2005, 04:35 AM I watched the first episode but keep forgetting it's on!
Shark_Attacks 05-02-2005, 08:24 AM I agree with you Nox. And the large black lady who they all gave a hug to. They all looked pretty shocked so it would have been interesting to hear her actually 'sing'! And the black guy who Simon said would be better off outside Magic Kingdom too.
Totally agree with the Freddy Mercury one - was rather odd! Even the 'small lady with the large voice' dressed in that fish net outfit was better. How funny was she when she talked? lol! Her braces made her sound like a 7 year old.
I thought the guy in brown hat who did Stevie Wonder was excellent though.
Tigereye 07-02-2005, 10:42 AM Yeh sharkus - brown hat guy was really good.......
don't think fishnet girl will get much further tho....
I also thought they were a little harsh on the second twin who auditioned again.... he's not brilliant but he's certainly as good as others they've let through...
Coastie 19-02-2005, 08:43 AM My faves out of the last 24 are:
Guys:
Anwar (the vocal coach with the long dred locks)
and
Girls:
The black girl with the big 'Macy Gray' frizzy hair.....
The girl from the farm..blonde!
Unlike last season when Fantasia clearly had something exceptional that made her stand head and shoulders above the rest, this year's crop seem average by comparison.
No one has made me go wow, and I think it'll be difficult to predict the finalists from this motley bunch.
Coastie 21-02-2005, 02:42 AM You sittin' on the fence Noxie?
Go on...you must at least have a fave... :naughty: I bet it's Scott...it is isn't it....you fancy Scott and you're not saying it because you realise having a crush on a young man who looks like a red neck serial killer isn't cool! :bag:
Oh....my boss is thinking of making me retake the diversity course again now!
Islandman 21-02-2005, 02:58 AM Is it me or do are the British getting the abridged version of American Idol?

Yep, I'm watching. I'm an Idol fan like the rest of y'all. lol.
Sounds like you are getting an abridged version...we had six episodes (hour long each) of auditions in the various cities..
Episode 1: Washington D.C.
Episode 2: St. Louis
Episode 3: New Orleans
Episode 4: Las Vegas
Episode 5: Cleveland and Orlando
Episode 6: San Francisco
And then we had four episodes of widdling it down from the top 250 or so picked from the cities to the top 24.
Tomorrow we start with the top twelve men singing...then Tuesday is the top 12 girls..then wednesday is results. Each week two go from each group until it is down to 6 guys and 6 girls to make the top 12..then it will be regular format.
How far are you guys along in the episodes? Get down to top 24 yet?
Coastie 21-02-2005, 03:07 AM We have the last 24 now and next weeks show will be the first public vote...if my understanding is correct... :shocking:
There are several times when singers have appeared onscreen to sing and their actual singing has been cut making the next thing we hear the judges comments....this is really annoying! Hopefully now we are down to the last 24 that sort of editing should stop!
Who do you like thus far IM?

Weird. that would be rather annoying...I'd rather hear the singing than the judges comments if one had to be cut.
So far I like Mario of the guys and Mikalah and Carrie of the girls.
I haven't seen this weeks episode yet, but hoping to catch up this afternoon!

Yeah...Mario is pretty cool....and the girls hmmmm they obviously didn't make to much of an impression on me cos I can't really picture them!
I have a severe crush on Bo Bice and Constantine Papapadopolous [I know that is not really his name but it should be!].
I like Anwar, and Miquaela [is that the confident 16 year old?], I like the girl with the Macy Gray hair too.
I don't like Scott though [that is Noxy's b/f isn't it Coastie?]
Islandman 21-02-2005, 12:48 PM Yeah...Mario is pretty cool....and the girls hmmmm they obviously didn't make to much of an impression on me cos I can't really picture them!
lol. Mikalah is the obnoxious 16 year old and Carrie is the blond country girl who grew up on a farm.
Crystal Lights 21-02-2005, 01:13 PM lol. Mikalah is the obnoxious 16 year old and Carrie is the blond country girl who grew up on a farm.
I lurve this show!!
I am sorry but I cannot stand Mikala - she is so bloody full of herself and shes only 16!!! Imagine in her 10 years time , waht a nightmare!!
Out of the gals i like Carrie, she seems so sweet and I like the Las Vegas show girl, i cant remember her name, she is the best looking fo the glas but also seems really nice.
Out of the guys i like Constanine (the guy who ditched his band)...he is quite cute in a greasy way!!
Coastie 21-02-2005, 06:56 PM lol. Mikalah is the obnoxious 16 year old and Carrie is the blond country girl who grew up on a farm.
Ooo Carrie is the one I like then....couldn't remember her name....anyway:
Carrie and Macy Gray hair for the girls
and
Anwar for the guys!
Flip - Yes Scott is Noxie's fella...she loves him and wants to snog him! :naughty:
Scott's the one who looks like a severely depressed turnip isn't he :ranting:
Islandman, we've had nowhere near as many episodes. Two locations were crammed into each of our hour long episodes and on Friday we went from the four rooms down to the 24 hour finalists in an hour without hardly hearing a note.
Islandman 22-02-2005, 01:04 PM So what night do you guys see each new episode?
We saw the guys sing last night...and i don't want to post anything about the episode until after you guys see it.
Tigereye 22-02-2005, 03:39 PM Don't know about british telly IM, but in Ireland we get two episodes from 9.00 am on a sunday morning....
we may get to see the guys AND the girls episodes this weekend so!!
I think we're a little behind you IM. In England we get it at 9pm on a Friday, but it's not on one of the main terrestrial channels, so I don't think many people watch it, which is probably why they skip so much!
Our last episode left us with the 24 finalists, but they hadn't perfomed to the public at the point, so I assume that's what's coming next.
Do you get to see Pop Idol?
Islandman 22-02-2005, 07:13 PM Do you get to see Pop Idol?
No channel here airs Pop Idol...actually..very few foreign shows hit our tv stations, unfortunately.....but I was able to watch the second season of Pop Idol by downloading the episodes online. I must say I enjoyed it up until the last few people left, when there really wasn't anyone I was really rooting for anymore.
Coastie 26-02-2005, 07:33 AM Have to say I was glad to see the back of those who were voted off this week!
I was suitably impressed with Anwar and Macy Gray hair...both were fantastic and Carrie didn't dissapoint either.
I haven't really seen Bo perform until last night (kept missing him somewhere along the line) and I have to say...HE ROCKS....I so prefer him to Constantine who just seems a little smug at times and bit to clean to be a real rocker....
In the battle of the rockers....
BO RULES!
I now have two top guys and two top girls!
Anwar and Bo
Carrie and Macy Gray hair!
I'd go along with Anwar and the woman I keep wanting to call Tina Turner but who is in fact Nadia Turner.
I was surprised Judd went. I quite enjoyed his performance, and thought the very young dark girl was much weaker.
I can't understand why Simon thought Travis couldn't sing in tune. He sounded perfectly ok to me unless I was missing something.
I sooo knew Simon wouldn't be able to resist making a remark about the Natalie Umbrulia girl - I could his expression change as soon as she entered the audition room.
Still no obvious winner as far as I can see. Every series they always say that the talent is better than ever, but I don't think this one has as many strong vocalists as the last series. Remember, they had the three divas in season 3 who were all exceptional.
Coastie 27-02-2005, 06:59 AM This is my first experience of American Idol (didn't have freeview before) and I have to say I destest the host Ryan Seagrove...he is the most irritating, up his own bottom host I've seen in yonks!
Anyway that aside....yes the small dark girl was the worst of the lot but Melinda was naff!
I think Travis was boring.....I have heard him sing better but My Cheri has got to be one of my least fave songs anyway and yawn!
Nadia Turner...Nadia Turner...Nadia Turner not Macy Gray! :wallbash:
Watched the show this morning.
My fav girl is Carrie from the farm and bloke is Constantine. I thought Bo's perfomance was brilliant, I love his voice its just that I fancy Constantine more. Also the chap who sang last...can't remember his name, he was good.
Nox's boyfriend give's me the creeps, did you see him in the group auditions - he really is a plank and the very cocky 16 year old girl deserves a good slapping.

Def prefer Bo....I can see those who like the Orlando Blooms of the world liking Constantine as he has such boyish looks....I like my men a bit rougher!
Still sticking with:
I now have two top guys and two top girls!
Anwar and Bo
Carrie and Macy Gray hair er Nadia Turner
Note: Yes Nox's fella is scaring me even more now....I can just picture him with a chainsaw going crazy backstage.....
The 16 year old def needs slapping and then voting off and then slapping again!
Islandman 27-02-2005, 03:02 PM hahaha. nooo. I love the 16 year old girl...Mikalah. I hope she at least makes it to the top 12 because I find her quite entertaining. As Simon said, you'll either love her or hate her...I love her. lol.
After these performances, I'm rooting for Mario and Constantine of the guys, and Carrie and Mikalah of the girls. I do like Aloha too tho, and Nadia.
And the way they did the voting off was evil. That one girl just quit singing her song she was so upset. It's like..."you suck, American doesn't want you...now sing to them!" lol
Coastie 27-02-2005, 03:06 PM Yeah you'd think they's make the viewing public suffer no more by simply letting the cack singers leave quietly......or did you mean it was cruel to the singers?

I mean't to mention this...its so blummin cruel. Gladis you loose, now SING!!
I burst out laughing then felt bad...good tv tho.

Its what they do on our Pop Idol though! It's nothing new it's just is it me or our the American Idols in making a tad more emotional?
It was painful having to listen to her again though....Judd was a bit of fun but eeeeeek didn't like her number the first time around! :wallbash:

AI always has an emotional lot...I think it's due to the fact that for so many years people tell them they are good...and that "you can do anything you want as long as you try your best"...so when they finally get rejected they are like...what?!? You can't reject me! ....Sorry, hard work doesn't mean anything unless you already have a bit of talent to begin with. lol
It's like in the first few episodes...all the horrible singers...Simon will say they suck...and then they will be like....but all my friends/family told me I was good! Teachers/parents/friends have become afraid of telling anyone they suck at anything...i don't get it.
Coastie 27-02-2005, 05:34 PM Does this mean I'm not going to be the next President of the United States Islandman......
And there was me believing all those imported shows we get in the UK about how you can be all you wanna be as long as you believe!
Life sucks man! :pooh:
I guess us Brits are more real! If someone sucks well we generally tell em!
Islandman 27-02-2005, 05:43 PM Does this mean I'm not going to be the next President of the United States Islandman......
Erm, I mean, of course you can be the next US president...just please stop crying!

Yay
Well I watched the re-run last night.
And I am with you Cat on the Constantine/Bo debate - Constantine is HOT HOT HOT - I don't think it is a Orlando Bloom thing either - he is way too dirrrrrty [check out his eyes when he sings - they undress you] for the clean cut/pretty image.
But of the boys I really really like Judd Harris - the one who sang 'Travellin' Band' - he is cute, humerous, brimming with a gentle confidence - I just like him and he has wonderful smiley eyes.
Nox your betrothed is ghastly, ghastly - he may be good in bed Nox [only you know that] but nah pet he is pants on stage.
Of the girls - my top three [in order] are Nadia, Alohah and Mikaila. Islandman I am in the love Mikaila camp - she is just a goofy kid who reminds me of a very very young Barbara Striesand!!

This makes a lot of sense IM. We've got the same problem here, no one is ever rubbish at anything merely challenged. No one is told the chances of obtaining their goal are one in a million because they have zero talent. It would be far too un PC.
Some of the auditionees on Idol were totally delusional, and I can't see that their friends and families are helping them in the long run.
I heard that Constantine had more air-time than the others, is that partly what's making him so popular? Apart from 'leaving the band' vid, we hardly see any of the behind the scenes stuff so can only judge on how they look and sound on stage, which is probably fairer. :)
Flip, you dissing my fella huh, huh? :boxing:
I know he can't help it, but he looks like a serial killer - poor ***
Watched this morning and I must say I am swinging..oh yeah...BO Brice (Rice?)...he really was fantastic and made Constantine seem like a pansy in comparisum....he is the TRUE rocker.
The girls were all outshone by the blonde one (not Carrie) that the judges loved.
Bo is my fav now.
Coastie 06-03-2005, 02:17 PM Gutted as I am not going to get to watch it this week......
I just hope my fave four stay in the race!
I haven't watched this yet, I am going to put it on in a minute and do some of my ironing
Islandman 06-03-2005, 07:20 PM I didn't think the girls were that great this week. However, I enjoyed Mikalah's performance...and she is officially my fave. lol.
Of the guys I think Anthony has a good shot of going far. I usually like Mario, but he has been doing the same thing every week...and his constantly saying "Come on!" when he sings is getting annoying. And I have become a fan of Nikko now, and hope he makes the top 12.

Whats the matter with Bo then you Bo'ohobic' you.
blah
Islandman 06-03-2005, 09:20 PM Whats the matter with Bo then you Bo'ohobic' you.
blah
I dunno...I think Bo is good, but I just don't see him making it to the end. I'm not usually big on the "rockers" tho in these competitions. lol. I prefer Constantine out of the two tho.
I thought the boys as a whole were superb - the girls by comparison were pants.
I love love love Constantine and Anwar and Bo - but Bo is a bit too serious for me and he doesn't have those 'I want to ravish you' eyes [like Constantine]. I actually wish Scott would get lost - he is just awful [sorry Nox I know he is your b/f].
I am with IM on this I adore Mikalah - she was wonderful tonight, I also liked Amanda [who did the Gloria Estefan number], and I think Lyndsey is the prettiest thing I have seen in years.
I still like Nadia - but her performance tonight was not up to last weeks - and quite honestly that girl, was it Javede [?] should have gone she was dreadful.
Coastie 07-03-2005, 07:17 AM It was the horrible quiz master last night down the pub so I didn't stay...instead I shot home to catch the second half of American Idol....Unfortunately it was the girls half of the show and from the clips I saw of the boys I missed a real treat.....
Anyway glad that:
Nadia and Carrie stayed in for the girls
Anwar and Bo for the boys
I have just remembered this and I knew I have been wanting to say it since last week - but last American Idol, Paula Abdul annoyed the heck out of me by doing that silly splayed finger, seal clap.
This year it is the way she says 'niche' - she says 'nich' [as in snitch] rather than the kinder and softer 'nei-shhh'- I actually like her, she just gets these small annoying traits that make me want to rip her voice box out or stilh saw her hands off - ok that is a bit violent, but boy does she irritate??
Coastie 14-03-2005, 07:47 AM Oooo...Just how good was Anwar this week....amazing!
Anwar was great. I'm also liking Bo and Nadia. All three of them seem very comfortable with their style and have a vocal maturity that the others lack.
Constantine is starting to seriously bore me. His performance was as bland as a bowl of brown rice. I'd much rather he left than Nikko (though there might be a surprise)
As for Mikala, last night's song was flat (or pitchy as Randy likes to call it) and in totally the wrong style. Why is she still there?
Coastie 14-03-2005, 05:24 PM I cannot stand Mikalia..she annoys the begeebers out of me and yes she was pants the other night!
Constantine is boring...you hit the nail on the head there!
So basically.....
Anwar - 1st
Nadia - 2nd
Bo - 3rd
Carrie - 4th
Nothing has changed....It's true..first impressions go along way but when they turn out 2nd, 3rd and 4th of the same high standard (although Carrie has had a minor wobble IMHO) I have to stick by my initial sentiments! :cool2:
Mikala, Why is she still there?
Cos she is bursting at every conceivable seam with latent guts and personality.... probably. I still love her erstwhile cheek and looks, a real New Yorker personified. Yeah she was a bit pitchy - I wish I understood music??
Anwar was again superb, Bo was fabulous, Constantine was OK [I still love him though]. Scott meanwhile, was dire!!
Coastie 14-03-2005, 05:37 PM Scott meanwhile, was dire!!
Shhhh Flippy that's Noxies fella your slagging off...she gets very upset you know.....and her therapy was going so well!
Islandman 14-03-2005, 10:00 PM As for Mikala, last night's song was flat (or pitchy as Randy likes to call it) and in totally the wrong style. Why is she still there?
Cause people like me still call in and vote for her obsessively. haha.
She really is my favorite tho...she did sing bad this week...but I just like her. I know she won't win, but i'll try to keep her there as long as I can! lol.
Others who i like are Jessica, Anwar, Mario (when he doesn't say "Come on" every other line), Nadia.
I used to like Constantine..but now think he's terrible. I dunno..this season I keep changing my favorites...usually i have definite favorites by now...but at the moment Mikalah is my only def. fave.
Mikalah has gone right down in my opinion, I don't like this new serious stance one little bit...she pulled it off last week but I thought she was awfull yesterday.
Constantine my son I'm afraid I would now climb over you for the hobnobs, Simon was spot on when he said he was a bad immitation of Sting. It was a good song for him but he should have made it his own...he is fading in the light......
Bo still out shone the rest and the blond girl in the really nice green out shone the girls.
Scott is so revolting I want to cry (sorry Nox), he's is a scary loon.
Nox you could do better.
Islandman 15-03-2005, 02:32 AM Well, it was just reported today that Mario has quit the show. He has cited "personal family reasons" for quitting...but not even his own mother knew he had quit until a reporter asked her....so who knows what the real reason is as of yet...
Nikko, who got kicked off this past week, will be returning in his place. Which I'm excited about because Nikko was one of my faves.
Booooooo he was really good last week.
I have found an Idol site now so I can be more insited. Did you know both Bo and Constantine are 29?
The girl I like is called Jessica.
Coastie 15-03-2005, 07:23 AM Right whose left:
Anwar
Bo
Constantine
Anthony
Nikko (in place of Mario)
Scott
Nardia
Carrie
Jessica
Mikalah

Oh IM - good news broadcasting mate!!!:wink2:
Mario indeed?? I wonder why?? But I am glad Nikko is back - he really didn't deserve to go - he was fantastic last week.
Scott is so revolting I want to cry (sorry Nox), he's is a scary loon Oh my God I think I am about to wet my pants laughing - that was sooooooo funny!!!
Wel before the results show I would like to make a prediction? And that is that LYndsey goes - lovely as she is - her performance was a bit lack lustre.
Nox your fella is still pants and is now creeping me out!!
And CAT listen up sugar - can you honestly tell me that Bo is better than Constantine?? Even Simon said Constantine was the Smouldering Idol!!! And had you not noticed Simon is a boy!!
Look at Bo's eyebrows they are just not normal - and then look at Constantine's they are perfect, they undress you and his eyes will whip your keks off as soon as you can say 'American Idol'.
Oh I have loads more to say - but the results show is starting ....
I so wish I had put a tenner on that then!!! I would have been quids in!!
I sure did not expect my lovely little Mikaila to be int he bottom 3, but she stayed and that is what counts.
Did noxie's fella rock like a loop de loon whilst his results were being read out?? I think so!!
oooooo....... I have forgotten so much.
Well done Flip, but your man Constantine is a pseudo-rocker. Cut his hair short, take off the leather jacket and you're left with a guy with a decent voice but nothing to make him stand out from the crowd.
Jessica: Can't remember her so probably dull
Nikko: Entertaining, but sang badly. He can do a lot better and needs to make the most of this second chance.
Carrie: Will win votes as the all American girl whatever she does.
Simon said that three people knew what they were about musically and that included Carrie. Huh? Anwar, Bo and Nadia have to be those three don't they?
Vonzell: Start and end of song were good, middle was a let-down. High notes were iffy.
Scott: (Yes my boyfriend  ) Actually, if you didn't look at the screen, he was good this week. He has an excellent white soul voice that suited the genre well. Still looks like an escaped serial killer though.
Anthony: The boy did good, and will get a lot of votes because of his back story.
Nadia: Can this girl do no wrong? I thought she'd just be a soul diva, but how wrong I was - she seems to be able to take any song and make it her own.
Bo: Brings something different to the comp and should be in the top three with Anwar and Nadia.
Anwar: Seems like a nice guy and has a fantastic voice.
Mikala: If anyone remembers Kim doing Son of a Preacher Man on Pop Idol, that's how it should have been sung. IslandMan, sorry but your girl was AWFUL and was very lucky not to get the order of the boot.
Lyndsey: Couldn't cope with the song she'd chosen.
So who friggin went then....this clashed with America's Next Top Model today and I'm afraid ANTM won...
Flip...it depends wether eyes are open or shut..open Constantine..shut Bo.
So..who went please.
Islandman 20-03-2005, 04:51 PM Cat...Lindsey went.
Nadia: Can this girl do no wrong? I thought she'd just be a soul diva, but how wrong I was - she seems to be able to take any song and make it her own.
I totally agree on Nadia...she is creeping past Mikalah as my fave. I still love Mikalah...but I agree...she was rather off this week...and definitely expected her to be in the bottom three...which she was. Hopefully she can stick it out a couple more weeks tho.
And I'm glad Nikko wasn't even in the bottom three...i have enjoyed all of his performances and am so glad he is back.
It's on at 8pm tonight on ITV2 Cat if you want to see it for yourself.
Will someone just piggin tell me please!!
Islandman 20-03-2005, 05:53 PM Will someone just piggin tell me please!!
No man left this time...top 12 now just one person leaves per week.
Can't remember who Lindsey is..will watch at 8pm
Coastie 21-03-2005, 11:03 AM The Boys: Bo stole the show this week....he was fantastic...Anwar was a little dissapointing!
The Girls: Nadia was solid as usual and I enjoyed her performance...Carrie was a little weak though!
Still want Anwar to win though....I think he is such a lovely and very talented guy!...If not him well I fear that Nardia may have to move over for Bo!
Islandman 24-03-2005, 04:21 PM So there's been more mess ups on American Idol....they displayed the wrong texting numbers for 3 of the contestants on the regular show...so they replayed the performances again on a new show last night...and had to do a revote. Hopefully it doesn't mess up the voting too much and screw someone over...and results will be tonight then rather than last night.
How much does it cost to phone in IM? Do you think it was a ploy by the TV company to raise more money? :)
Islandman 24-03-2005, 07:17 PM How much does it cost to phone in IM? Do you think it was a ploy by the TV company to raise more money? :)
It's free to call by phone...as there is now some law that tv shows can't make you pay....and for texting in votes...they announced on the show that those who called in would not be billed for it. So i think it was just an honest mistake by whoever edited the show.
It's free to call by phone...as there is now some law that tv shows can't make you pay.....
Crikey, we haven't got anything like that here. Although come to think of it, a lot of our voting is tied up with charitable donations, the idea being that a proportion of the revenue raised from phone voting is given to charity.
A lot of our reality TV shows rely on the public vote to get off the ground and wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the money raised. In fact that would be an excellent way of sorting out the wheat from the chaff. Only those reality shows that were good enough to make money by their own merits would get aired, and we wouldn't be subjected to all the dross.
Wow - I wish the UK shows were like that - maybe more people would phone in for their fave if that were the case!!! [me for one]
My prediction for tonight is more difficult - sadly I think it will either be my lovely Mikaila or Anthony Federoff.
Nadia was just brilliant - I loved it. As was Constantine doing a David Cassidy number [Partridge Family - my bottom David always sang it].
Anwar as much as I love him did not do the stage justice, he is not a showman like Connie. And Scott throwing his kit off after shagging the mike was a bit much - I am 'fraid to say Nox immediately came to mind, but I think she has more of a figure than a mike stand!!
I loved Carrie tonight - but wasn't that enamoured of Jessica's performance.
Bo was superb, but his eyebrows worry me deeply.
Vonzell was fine but unmemorable as was Nikko 'shrug my cape off' Smith.
Who have I missed??
And Scott throwing his kit off after shagging the mike was a bit much - I am 'fraid to say Nox immediately came to mind, but I think she has more of a figure than a mike stand!!
Awww, shucks... you do say the nicest things.
IM, we only see tiddly little bits of the show so never have a clue what's gone on outside of the performance. It does however make sense of one of Ryan's comments. He said something like "even after all that.. we had ten zillion blah blah votes". I presume the "all that" was referring to the revote.
Thank goodness Mikala has gone. She can't sing more than a handful of notes in tune! How she got as far as she did I'll never know.
"My fella", Scott - do you think he'd been watching the x-factor which is why he chose 'Against all odds'. Not a patch on Steve.
Carrie proved she's a lot more than a C&W this week. That was the showstopper for me.
Bo - Wow, what a gorgeous sexy mellow voice he's got when he tones it down. Wasn't expecting that.
Nikko - Shouted his way through the song.
Anthony - OK, nothing more, deserved to be in the bottom three IMO.
Nadia - The girl who could do no wrong has a set back and in the process proves her fan base is only as good as her last song which she didn't manage to pull off.
Jessica - She was good but not great. A definite improvement, but didn't have the rock edge I thought was needed to pull this off, Bonny Langford* style. *I don't mean Bonny Langford do I - Who do I mean?
Anwar - Weak this week.
Constantine - He's as much about rock 'n' roll as David Cassidy, so I thought a Partridge family song was perfectly suited to his mediocre vocals. :)
Coastie 30-03-2005, 02:47 PM What has happened to Anwar...he has gone from extremely fab to wel...boring!
Bo is simply amazing!
Nadia is slipping a little now.....
Carrie is still fab....
Jessica is certainly doing well....
Scott scares me....
Anthony is well dull....
Vonzella I just really do not like....
Nikko is nothing special....
Constatine is slimey and makes my skin crawl....
Mikalia has gone....oooo how happy am I..woooo
Scott should have had his chips this week (he's already had all the pies) - couldn't cope with the range.
Constantine - Wow, massive improvement. Normally leaves me cold, but he's a musical star in the making, just not a rocker.
Carrie - Technically brilliant as always and a pretty girl, but what else is there to say about her? If you compare her with someone like Fantasia she hasn't even got the A-factor let alone the X-factor.
Anthony - I was expecting nuns to come on stage during his Sound of Music number - anything to liven it up.
Nikko - Not my cup of tea. He wouldn't have won - he was going to get the boot sooner rather than later anyway.
Anwar - Oo, did I hear a questionable note? One of the problems with AI is that the music is too loud and drowns out the artists vocals.
Bo - I imagine Webber/Rice productions weren't on the list, otherwise Bo could have done something from Jesus Christ Superstar. The number didn't suit him and he was out of his depth.
Nadia - Another strong performance.
Vozell - Best of the night for me.
Patsy 09-04-2005, 10:14 PM Bo and Constantine tops
Then Nadia
The others are like anyone else.
I think I will have to re-watch it again tonight, as Friday I was a bit drunk and distracted, with mates round and that stoopid Coastie dove on my knee.
But I caught the jist of it - and Constantine is just up there next to Adonis. Nadia is by far the best girl - but I do like Vonzell [she is such a swet girl who is always smiling].
I so want the Pie man to shove off and eat more pies - he is awkward, unsociable, unstable [IMO] and really scarey.
Having started to be disappointed with Constantine, this morning my knee's went from beneath me and I fell to the floor.
He outshone all of them - fantastic.
Glad Scott has gone (sorry Nox), but he really was a revolting man - you can do better.
Glad Scott has gone (sorry Nox), but he really was a revolting man - you can do better.
Cat was I so drunk and superimposed Scotts body onto Nikko Smiths body??
I couldn't have been - Scott is still there eating all the pies!! Isn't he?:wallbash:
Cat was I so drunk and superimposed Scotts body onto Nikko Smiths body??
I couldn't have been - Scott is still there eating all the pies!! Isn't he?:wallbash:
Actually flip, what was I thinking.....it was Nikko who went, Scott was just in the final 3...oh booooooooooooooo and double boo.....I so want him to go I had convinced myself.
I'm sorry to have mis informed you and given you false hope...I really am.
I'm sorry to have mis informed you and given you false hope...I really am.
OH LOL it s'ok!! I had to watch it again tonight just to make sure - cos even though I thought I knew it was Nikko and not the Pieman - I did get to wondering if they had miscalculated the votes or something marvellous like that!
But no the Pieman is still there.
I think this is the 1st time I have got around to comment on this although I have been watching it avidly.
I think Simon Cowel is the only honest judge the other two sit on the fence to much. He says it as he sees it, good or bad and you have to admire that whether you agree with his judgement or not. I am getting a little fed up with Paula praising everyone even when they are crap!
This week, I think Scott should have gone, there were a few that weren't good but I think he was the worst....
Scott - not good, doesn't sound good, doesn't look good. Is not the next American Idol.
Constantine - He was fantastic this week, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in the final
Carrie - I like her, and she has a lovely voice but others are better
Anthony - This was terrible, he should have been in the bottom 3
Nikko - He wasn't good tonight, but others were worse
Anwar - Ok but nothing special
Bo - He was ok but again it was nothing special
Nadia - I thought she was the best of the night, I think she could win this
Vozell - Again ok but nothing special
For me on tonights performance it would be a 2 horse race between Nadia and Constantine
isleofweather 12-04-2005, 03:44 PM If that first judge bloke, Randy says "yo dog, a mean, you da man..etc" one more time - ok we get that you are still "down wit the guys" and you have got the whole black thang going on but speak normally for a change. Simon tells it like it is and is the real star of the show.
My feeling about the whole show is that none of them could lace WIll Young's boots. maybe Nadia could if she would stop singing awful songs.
Memo to all the contestants: How about singing some number 1 songs (the ones we like the best..hint hint) and lay off the BORING obscure rocky American c-rap. Jesus H Peeps if i hear one more country/rock song I will scream
BO? - are you kidding me? - that long haired twerp and his "rack" songs
I know its America but why does that mean they ALL have to be "nice" and the same?
I kind of like the host guy, he is a bit wierd and has a dig on occassions - overall I wish it was on ITV1 and in the UK but what else is on after Seinfeld on Friday's now that Nathan Barley is over??
Islandman 13-04-2005, 06:33 PM The group this year I am finding hard to root for. I still haven't really seen any "wow" performances. I think Vonzell has come the closest for me, and she is my definite favorite now. I wish these contestants would pick better songs and I wish the voters weren't so dumb as to keep both Scott and Anthony around. guh.
Coastie 14-04-2005, 09:34 AM I think I will have to re-watch it again tonight, as Friday I was a bit drunk and distracted, with mates round and that stoopid Coastie dove on my knee.
Both Coasties enjoyed the show this week but would still like to see the following go:
Scott....
Anthony.....
Constantine....
Vonzell....
Bo is creeping above Anwar now as Anwar has failed to shine three weeks running for me now!
Coastie 15-04-2005, 02:45 PM Tonights the night....wonder what the theme is?!
I hope nwar picks up his game this week......and Nadia for that matter!
Carrie's still holding her own......and I'm sure Bo will shine!
Coastie 16-04-2005, 07:50 AM Oh dear.....
Nadia  Mind you she really hasn't been as good over the last couple of weeks......but Bo was in the bottom 3 too what was that all about...he was fab!
How the hell does Anthony keep getting through
Vonzell grew massively on me last night...she was very good!
Carrie rocked out rather well I thought!
Anwar...another poor song choice :(
Scott dedicated his song to the long lost Noxie dove.... 'She's Gone'.....
Does anyone else think that Constantine looks like a young Gary Sinise?
Oh NO lovely Nadia - gone!!
Her song choice was hopeless I have to say, but she looked and sounded fabulous - the song choice completely let her down.
Bo - superb performance, although the song is a bit of a classic and is difficult to a] repeat and b] shorten!! Mind I was v. surprised to see him in the bottom 3.
Anwar - is now just boring me, he sounds the same all the time, pretty face but not much going on in there.
Vonzell - is a lovely, bit of a disco queen, her performance and outfit was a bit lacking I thought.
Scott - he ate more pies and I hate his attitude - I just cannot stand him - get him out!! And more to the point his rendition of She's Gone was terrible, out of tune and horrible.
Carrie - I thought she did really well tonight, I was really surprised that this was a hit in the year of her birth, I really felt my age with that I remember rocking away to that as a youngster!!
Constantine - well he cannot put a foot wrong - totally brilliant Bohemian Rhapsody - although I did agree with Simon - it seemed like a totally risque choice - but he pulled it off with bells on. And yeah Coastie - I know exactly what you mean about Gary Sinise [totally and utterly sexy]!!
isleofweather 16-04-2005, 01:54 PM Yet again Randy (whom I do like) started every sentence with Yo man
Yet again Paula was jumping around getting it all wrong
Yet again Simon squirmed as only a Brit could do amid this US excess
Yet again SImon told the truth and was excellent
A great Friday nite's entertainement, best yet - why does "Seacrest" call the panel by their surnames tho?
I winced when Seacrest asked Bo if he was surprised to find himself in the bottom 3. Instead of being honest and saying " yeah I am REALLY surprised and gutted" he put up a front and pretended he did not care - what a fib and it showed that he aint got what it takes, he is toast and will not win, folks aint so daft.
beautiful Nadia also got it wrong saying she did not regret her song choice...er hello.. it was awful, the judges said so and you are in the bottom 3 - how out of touch was she? - the I thank God line made me puke.
fat boy not so slim has an attitude problem and is also toast in the next 2 weeks
carrie was unfairly dealt with but is lovely, great nose. Vonzel did well but had awful clothes. Anwar is so dull he need permanent illumination and altar boy is mince and wont last long.
Old Concertina has charm, balls and looks like the winner to me.
fat boy not so slim has an attitude problem and is also toast in the next 2 weeks
Old Concertina has charm, balls and looks like the winner to me.
I sincerely hope you are right about the Pieman - he sucks!!
And hey you got it right about my lovely!!
And how on god's earth can you like the Jackson - he is just awful, he can't speak and he grunts for a living???
And I love Seacrest's surname attitude!!
Coastie 16-04-2005, 05:24 PM Don't like Seacrest.....Randy....Paula...they just annoy me...big time....all that Seacrest out...hey dog (call me a dog I'll crap in your yard)....and oooo mushy mushy I'm so proud of you
Go Simon! - keeping it real!
Pieman has to go......although it will break Noxies heart!
Anthony is the true meaning of the colours grey and magnolia....nothing special and incredibly boring!
Anwar...please come alive again...please!
Constantine...although he is growing on me...he can perform....I still find him a bit slimey.....
Vonzell....she is getting better and better I just can't really warm to her!
Carrie will go a fair way as she is but really needs to lift her game again to steal the show....but I like her and her attitude is great.
Bo...love Bo...he has kicked Anwar off my top guy spot!
Coastie 16-04-2005, 06:16 PM http://cinesev.ifrance.com/cinesev/gary%20sinise%20photo.jpg
Gary Sinise

Constantine
Scarey.......
Yet again Simon squirmed as only a Brit could do amid this US excess
LOL - I actually feel quite sorry for Siomon when Paula is jumping up and down clapping and Simon's rooted to his chair staring intently at the monitor. It's also funny when Simon's using English expressions and it's clear from the look on the other's faces, they haven't got a scoobies what he's talking about.
Wasn't a fan of Constantine at the start and wondered why he was there, but he's definitely improving. Full credit to him for taking on Bohemian Rhapsody and making it work. I know exactly what you mean though Coastie - he is a bit 'slimey'.
Pieman was out of tune, and his praying for divine intervention every time he's in the bottom 3 and the result is about to be announced, is getting on my nerves. (Coastie, he'll be singing the wind beneath my wings next week especially for you)
Nadia was unlucky. Bad choice of song - I'd certainly never heard of it but that doesn't prove much.
Anthony is boring me now.
Vonzell is improving, Bo was just ok this time and even Anwar who is technically brilliant doesn't seem to have got that spark that'll make him an American Idol.
Question for Islandman
When Randy is congratulating someone on their performance he says "you're the...." or "it's a ..." The word sounds like 'bomb'. What on earth is he saying and can you explain what it means?
I missed this on sunday due to the marathon, but I'm glad my boy Constantine is going strong.
(Coastie, he'll be singing the wind beneath my wings next week especially for you)
   **splutter** all over my moniter!!!!
Nox - I am interested in what IM has to report on Randy's vocabulary - it is gobbledygook rubbish as far as I can make out!!!
Islandman 18-04-2005, 05:43 PM Question for Islandman
When Randy is congratulating someone on their performance he says "you're the...." or "it's a ..." The word sounds like 'bomb'. What on earth is he saying and can you explain what it means?
It's an expression that used to be used a lot in the early 90's maybe...he is in fact saying "bomb"......"You're da bomb!"....it just basically means that you're "cool." Not really sure how it started..but we have a lot of those types of phrases where you take something that says something bad or totally unrelated and make it mean "cool." More recent ones are "that's sick"...or "Sweet!"
Kinda like the term i've heard Brits use a lot..."Wicked!"
Coastie 18-04-2005, 07:17 PM Pieman was out of tune, and his praying for divine intervention every time he's in the bottom 3 and the result is about to be announced, is getting on my nerves. (Coastie, he'll be singing the wind beneath my wings next week especially for you)
Oh I'm so looking forward to this............ :bored:
Randy annoys the heck out of me...sorry but a grown man talking like a teenage gang member is just pathetic.....get a life Randy and then maybe I'll start taking note of what you are saying cos at the moment all I here is....
'Your the bomb dawg....' and basically I would like one of the guys to prove they are indeed dogs in his pound by cocking their leg up him and biting his ankle....just before pooping on his lawn!
I was gobsmacked when Nadia went. I know the song was not very good but she did sing it well, I was convinced Scott was going to go!
For me Constantine is the winner. His verson of Bohemian Rhapsody was fantastic this week and for a man with long hair I find him very sexy!
Constantine
To
Win

Thanks IM, you're da bomb!
Hmmm, not sure it works with my accent :)
Patsy 18-04-2005, 10:15 PM I really liked Nadia. I think Pie Man and the incipid blonde bloke are extremely average. She was different. Vonzell is like any other typical black girl singer.
Constantine is extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely sexy. OMG yes. And a great performer to boot. I think he is more marketable than Bo, although Bo is also wicked.
Islandman 18-04-2005, 10:31 PM I just have to laugh at whoever coined the term Pie man...as it is quite funny indeed....he really is an odd looking man...
Coastie 19-04-2005, 03:04 PM I just have to laugh at whoever coined the term Pie man...as it is quite funny indeed....he really is an odd looking man...
He scares me....I've seen his face in so many crime mags and books...well if not his then many that look like him......eeeek!
Don't tell Noxie I feel this way though as she loooves him and wants to sing a duet with him!
Coastie 23-04-2005, 07:31 AM And so depression sets in.....
What the heck are the US public on?
How in the beggebers is the Pieman and Mr. Boring Anthony still in and Anwar out! :glare:
Vonzell is getting better and better....
Carrie is getting steadily worse......
Bo was solid this week...
Constantine still reminds me of Gary Sinise but also makes my skin crawl....
Woith Nadia and Anwar gone  my hopes now rest in Bo! :w00t:
Islandman 24-04-2005, 09:42 PM I know...dumb dumb dumb. I cannot figure out why people are voting for "Pie man" or Anthony. Nor can I figure out why Simon and co. are actually praising Anthony...he's terrible. Get him off the stage.
I wasn't too surprised that Anwar went tho. While he's had some great performances, most of his performances seemed off to me. Like he never really followed the beat right or something..
Tigereye 25-04-2005, 10:48 AM my video came to the end when I was recording this just when they'd split the finalists into two groups - groan!!!
So Anwar is gone then. He was very insipid this week - looked downright uncomfortable I thought - so not surprised really. No real depth or substance to him - but :shocking: wtf are serial killer and alterboy still doing there? Doh.......
Well as much as Anwar is a lovely singer, truly pure and wonderful singer - he had as much spunk as a seahorse!!
I was gutted that the Pieman did not go - he was useless, and LOL TE - I know you menat him as the serial killer!!
Utterly gutted that Bo was in the bottom 3 - what re Americans on??
Constantine was again superb, and I have to give Carrie her due she was also great.
Anthony [LOL @ alterboy too - TE - yur gonna have to stop it though!!!] is useless, a sweet boy but with the sex appeal of a puffer fish!!
Coastie 01-05-2005, 12:52 PM Oh dear Flippy!
Well once again the American public amazes me....WTH are The seriel killing piemiester and Mr Dull still doing on the show! :ranting:
Bo was fantastic! Go Bo!
I was so upset about this I could hardly register my utter astonishment.
The beautiful and talented Constantine has gone the journey!!!
Well there really is only Bo left with any talent. I know Carrie is good and I like Vonzell - but Constantine was MY American Idol!!!
Shuffle up Coastie - I am now with you and Bo [despit his eyebrows!]
GO BO GO!!!!!
Patsy 01-05-2005, 01:26 PM I haven't seen this for a couple of weeks, but am as gutter as you Flip. I really thought he had to sewn up. Carrie is bubble gum and there are a thousand Vonzelles in the charts at the moment. Constantine and Bo are great, but Constantine had the yummy factor for me.
I'm another who is gutted that Constantine, has gone.
I just can't believe that Scott was in the top three and Constantine has left!
I disagree about Bo though, I don't rate him at all, and for me the only that is left with any real talent is Vonzell!
Like Flip...... MY AMERICIAN IDOL is CONSTANTINE!
Coastie 01-05-2005, 01:39 PM I
Shuffle up Coastie - I am now with you and Bo [despit his eyebrows!]
GO BO GO!!!!!
He reminds me a little of Meatloaf (a pretty ugly beggar but he can't arf perform!)
Vonzell kinda fits the pop mould...
Carrie (who I like) is much better a country than anything else.....although I think she could do Jazz!
Anthony is paint dryingly dull! :bored:
Scott is scarey and he is always off key! :ranting:
Islandman 03-05-2005, 03:08 AM I was also somewhat surprised by Constantine's boot. I was really expecting him to make at least final 2. Now it looks like Carrie probably will win.
Vonzell is still my fave, and I was so glad she stayed. At this point I really don't care who wins as long as it is not Pieman. Vonzell would be my ideal winner this season tho.

I'm with you on this one Islandman!
Vonzell to win!

thank ils - I was hoping to see a pic of Corey Clark, can you remmber what he looked like - and who won the AI when he was in it - if it was 2003 it must have been Ruben Studdart??
Here is a picture of Corey Clark http://www.vh1.com/shared/media/news/images/a/American_Idol/sq-idol-corey-clark-site-fo.jpg
I just put his name into google and clicked on images and it brought quite a few pictures up!
You are right Flip, Ruben was the winner that year!

ooooooooo nice! thanks for that, although I can't remember him - I don't blame Paula one bit though [he reminds me of Harry Connick Jnr]!!:naughty:
Oh hoo-bloody-rah! :)
America has finally seen sense!!!
I thought Bo & Carrie were fantastic tonight and the right person went!
I am so so pleased Scott has finally gone!
Has he gone at last YAAAAAAY
I mean... oh booo hoooo, my world has been shattered.
I've had to give up on this for the time being and I keep missing it anyway so I'll be reading your posts as to who goes and who stays.
Tigereye 09-05-2005, 09:10 AM oooooh Serial Pieman is gone? Missed it this week.........
Coastie 09-05-2005, 12:06 PM Yay...my faith in the American public has been partially restored.... :w00t:
Oh and didn't Bo rock...he was fandabedozey this week!
Coastie 14-05-2005, 07:07 AM YAY....Mr Dull has finally left the building! :)
GO BO! - His second song was fantastic...bit of a boring country tune he chose though!
Carrie was good to start then well....I don't like her second song anyway so ho hum!
Vonz - Shakey start but although she has a good voice I just cannot warm to her at all as a person...and last night I thought she was working very hard towards the sympathy vote....tears at showtime and then that speech about how her mum has had to work two jobs yady yardy..yawn yawn! :closedeye
bridge 14-05-2005, 09:48 AM Go Bo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bridge 14-05-2005, 02:31 PM I hope Bo win's, but i think it will be Carrie.
I did want Vonzelle to win but after last night I have changed my mind and I would like Carrie to win now!

Glad to see you are slowly coming round....we will have you cheering for Bo before you know it!

He would have to have a hair cut and shave that bum fluff off his face for that to happen!

Hmm...now I wouldn't describe him as good looking...but I love his personality, talent and style! I have said before...he reminds me of Meatloaf in that he ain't much to look at but boy the man can sing!
Come on Ils see beyond the hair!
I watched a bit of American Idol for the first time in weeks last night, so I was surprised that Constantine wasn't there - sorry, I got a bit behind.
For the love of money is a fantastic song and I would never thought Bo would do it justice, but by golly he did.
Missed the elimintations - who went?
Coastie 14-05-2005, 03:39 PM Nox....stand and rejoice....
Anthony...the dullest of dull...has finally left the show! :w00t:
bridge 14-05-2005, 04:35 PM Coastie did ya like Constatine? i was sorry to see him go.

Stands up and applauds the yanks for finally making a sensible decision.
He had a nice voice and I'm sure he's a lovely lad, but he just didn't have that x-factor that made him stand out from the crowd. It's got to be Bo to win now hasn't it? No one in their right mind would vote for Carrie, or would they?
You know what??
This is going to be one interesting final. Of course Bo should win - who in their right minds would not vote for him.
But we are talking about America here [Islandman if you read this you are excluded from America on this occasion - OK?].
You see the way I look at it - there a the 3 finalists and each and everyone will have a completely different fan base. They cannot be compared at all and that is going to make it a really hard one to call.
There is Bo the Rocker, Carrie the country singer and Vonzell the Disco Diva - I really like them all, in their own way. But the only one with any backbone and stamina IMO is Bo.
And I am actually starting to see that he is quite gorgeous - despit his eyebrows - but I am sure they have been seen to.

I would Noxy!
Islandman 15-05-2005, 02:00 AM I'm sorry..but i'd be disappointed if Bo won. Sure he has a good voice....but when he sings it always sounds like an imitation of the original singer of the song. I don't see the appeal in him.
I really think Carrie will win. She's the only one never to be in the bottom 2...she is Simon's pick to win (and he does have a 3/3 record for AI winners)...and i think the country voice is an appeal as well. I've realized she's a terrible performer...but I think she would sound amazing on a CD.
Now I really want Vonzell to win...she's the only one that has really grown this season...and she always goes all out each week....but I just don't think she has a big enough fan base to win. I have a feeling she'll be third (altho I will be calling in nonstop next week to try to keep her around. lol)

I disagree with you, Bo is an Original singer he does not have to imitate anyone, he is fine in his own skin, i think he is brilliant.
Carrie i did like at the very beginning but she has become very boring and predictable, also i hate Country and Western, but i think she will win.
Vonzell i do like, when she is on top form she has an awesome voice.
GO BO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Coastie 17-05-2005, 07:45 AM Coastie did ya like Constatine? i was sorry to see him go.
I wasn't all that taken with Constantine...thought he was a little over theatrical and well I didn't think him even the remotest bit yummy even if he did look like a young Gary Sinise!
IM - Bo is an original performer IMHO but at the same time I can see a little of where you are coming from...afterall rock is rock and it is very difficult to perform rock in a new way....The think I really like about Bo is the fact he is an all round performer....he owns the stage when he is on it and stands out from the others when he has to share it.
It really has come down to a Genre vote though.....what will the Americans go for:
Rock
Disco/Pop
Country
That is the biggest question of all!
Oh and Nox...you can stop dancing now...you'll wear yourself out luvvie!
Coastie 25-05-2005, 07:21 AM I didn't get to see American Idol at all this week....
Will someone please tell me what happened!
Vonzell went home Coastie :(
It is the final this week, between Bo & Carrie!
Coastie 25-05-2005, 09:55 AM Wooo wooooo woooooooooooooooo
Excellent....the best possible final! :excl:
Sorry Ils I know you were rooting for the Vonz....
Tigereye 26-05-2005, 09:30 AM what the hell happened? someone please tell me who won!.........
The Final is on this Friday coming TE - so we don't know who won yet!
Don't worry we will let you know as soon as we do!
Tigereye 26-05-2005, 05:44 PM ah cool - I thought I'd missed it ILS. they show it on Saturday in Ireland, so I'll be back in time. come on Carrie.......... but Bo will probably win......
I'm gunning for Bo.
In my eyes he has outshone all the rest of them for the last 6 weeks, even Carrie, who I think has a fabulous voice, but not the charisma that Bo has seemed to develop.
Still think a good haircut and waxing would help tho....not a great fan of long hair on men, especially when its nicer than mine.
But he has grown and grown and his voice is to die for.
COME ON BO!
I think I am going to support Carrie...
I do like Bo's voice but I don't like the way he looks. As Cat said he needs a damn good haircut and a wax!
Coastie 27-05-2005, 07:11 PM I can't see it till Sunday...if then...big pants...but please let me know who wins soon as...
GO BO!
CARRIE
IS
THE
AMERICAN
IDOL
I am so glad she won as she imo she was far far better on the night!
Coastie 28-05-2005, 02:13 AM Simon picks another winner straight off the bat...it has to be said..he knows his stuff that fella!
Poor Bo...was he alright about it? I think he will be fine anyway.
:boxing:

He took it very well Cat, and yes I agree he will be fine. I think someone has already said they are going to make a record with him!

That would be me...called him up the other day asked if he wanted to do a little number with me...he said yeah sure so we're gonna do 'Tulips from Amsterdam' rock styleee....
Islandman 30-05-2005, 09:46 PM Apparently Bo already has a record deal lined up with Clive Davis.
I was glad Carrie won...I wouldn't buy Bo's CD...but I will definitely buy Carrie's. Her stage presence really improved in that last week...and I think her voice will sound great on a CD. Looking forward to it's release. I mean...I would've prefered a CD by Vonzell...but Carrie is the next best thing i think..

I really like them both...I love rock anyway so Bo has the edge but I think Carrie has a great sound to...I am so glad theye were the final two asthey were my 3 (Carrie) and 4 (Bo) at the start behind Anwar and Nadia...Bo crept ahead of Carrie as the shows went on but I am really pleased they both have record deals to look forward to now!
Well as much as I loved and still love Bo - Carrie deserved to win! She was lovely, she looked great, her voice was tremendous and her stage presence is superb. Bo was equally as charismatic - but Carrie just had the edge.
Neither will do too badly out of this - in fact none of them will!
But I wanted to ask did anyone notice that Anwar was not in the final line up when they did a medley of Beach Boys type songs?? But he was there at the end?
And wasn't David Hasselhoff a star - when he turned up for that guy Dirk?? It made the little lads night!! Ahhh Bless! I actually quite like David Hasselhoff now! [ooo wrong thread - should be the shame thread!]
