View Full Version : What annoys you most? claire 24-01-2005, 06:40 PM 2nd try at a poll... Scooby 24-01-2005, 06:44 PM The voting booth has gone AWOL. I say OliveMarie stole it. Burn her! cheerio! Haydon 22-02-2005, 10:35 AM and can I add... people who drive around with their fog lights on (either front or rear) when it isn't foggy and hasn't been foggy for days/weeks. Blink 22-02-2005, 10:42 AM Re: "Writing an essay or letter and the computer crashes just as you write the final sentance..." You forgot: "People who don't bother to save their work as they go along, in case of crashes, and then whine when they lose the lot in one go." MariaRob 22-02-2005, 12:51 PM I tell you what really gets my goat (and its a bit pathetic). Its when you are in the supermarket Q and you put one of those divider thingies after your shopping for the next person and they dont say "thanks". It drives me mad and makes me want to take the thing off again and chuck it on the side - am I losing it do you think?????? Andrea 22-02-2005, 12:53 PM Ooh MariaRob, you reminded me of one. When you've put the divider thingy on, the next person pushes it really close to you shopping, nearly squashing your shopping, so they can get as much on the belt as they can. For pete's sake, the damn belt will be moving in a minute, can you just not wait till then. Add my name to the losing it list. kimmy 22-02-2005, 01:32 PM I get annoyed when old people are rude. All this hype about respect your elders yet alot of them will show no respect to you. Yes there are lot of lovely older people out there but some can be downright rude! He thinks he is the greatest comedian on earth ... when all i want to do is punch him :boxing: Some people can 'do' sarcasm and be mildly funny, others cant :glare: Voice of reason 22-02-2005, 04:23 PM Ooh MariaRob, you reminded me of one. The place was packed but I only had 9 items (the specified number) and I had a bad back which is why I didn't use a basket. We were in a long queue for ages and she only said something when I'd loaded my stuff on the conveyor belt. Dolores 22-02-2005, 05:14 PM I had some old biddy say this to me the other day and I gave her short shrift. We were in a long queue for ages and she only said something when I'd loaded my stuff on the conveyor belt. You tell her love, nosey cow, do you look like a Safeways' queue rebel - no you don't! Nox 22-02-2005, 05:20 PM Good poll choices Claire and all annoying to some degree. My personal bugbear is being left is being left in a queue on the phone only to be cut off. If you add to that listening to long lists of options that don't apply, then going round in decreasingly small circles until back at the point I came in, I'm tearing my hair out. :ranting: Critique 23-02-2005, 10:04 AM Our local Mini-Tesco (they took over Alldays or something) has 2 or 3 tils open usually. Customers have tended to adopt the "one-queue" system where you all line up and just go to the next available cashier. There are no rope barriers or anything but it just seems to work. What really annoys me is when someone will walk in the door and go straight up to the til and stand behind that person (usually they only want cigarettes). Helloooo! What do they think we are all standing in a line for? Also when there is a long queue in the Supermarket and they open another til up and everyone from the back of the queue rushes forward and gets served before you. Grrrrrrrrrrrr! MariaRob 23-02-2005, 11:22 AM Whilst we are in supermarket whinge, I get really annoyed with all the old dears on their sticks etc (I KNOW I will be there sooner than I think) who persist in getting their shopping at lunchtime and getting in the way when I just want to pick up a sarni and rush in and rush out. If I had all day to myself there is no way I would ventue into a busy supermarket when I could shop at leisure before/after the busy lunchtime rush. The latest thing where we live is those motorised thingies which they drive right in front of you without a care! Humphhh. Andrea 23-02-2005, 12:01 PM Talking of elderly with sticks, how come they never actually use them to help them walk, but use the sticks as pointers, wafting them all in the air and knocking anyone within 4 feet of them, flying. Bonsai 23-02-2005, 01:46 PM I hate it when people stand too close to me, either in a supermarket queue or when im drawing cash out of the cash machine. I dont think they should invade my personal space. I had it this morning in the supermarket. I was paying, and the person next to me was practically on top of me. I could of slapped her back. Critique 23-02-2005, 02:29 PM I think it is supermarkets where red rage seems to take over. I hate it when people insist on packing every last item of their shopping before they start fishing in their bags to get out their "plastic". Knowing that it takes time for these things to go through, I always get my card out and hand it over so that I am packing while waiting for the till to register my card etc. :angel_not Also when I have a lot of shopping in the local shop and have let someone go before me who only has one item and then they want cigarettes, a lottery ticket, some of those instant win things that they have to unlock the cabinet to get at, and then pay by card!! And when someone has a query up the other end and the cashier leaves you in mid purchase to go and sort out someone else's query And when they carry on putting stuff on the shelves while you are waiting to be served, as if you aren't there! If they just said "be with you in a minute" it would be nicer but they just ignore you. Shopping is bad for your health  Blink 24-02-2005, 10:29 AM Actually, there is nothing more annoying on the planet than overseas-based call centres. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhh hhhhhhhh! I normally just step back aiming for there toes with my heal and then say sorry and smile at worse I miss and bump in to them and they always move back either way Cockney 24-02-2005, 11:15 AM The thing is allot of these people that stand to close to you are thieves its and old trick my Mum who is 80 had her purse phone and keys stolen yesterday on the bus and the guy was standing right on top of her, she was looking at him or trying not to and then while she was distracted, which was the point of him standing so close someone else was steeling her hand bag out of her pull along trolley bag Steeling from old ladies just did not happen in my day if anyone had found out that you had done that the whole pub would have kicked your head in and never talked to you again Don’t worry though ill find them it won't take long they operate on my old manner I shall enlighten them with my old mate Stanley Critique 24-02-2005, 11:19 AM Give 'em a kick from me too Cockney - oooh no, we're supposed to be non-violent these days - well do it anyway and say I told you to. That's the thing that struck me about pin numbers in supermarkets, now that most of them do it anyone behind or even to the side can see you key in your pin. Blink 24-02-2005, 12:14 PM That's the thing that struck me about pin numbers in supermarkets, now that most of them do it anyone behind or even to the side can see you key in your pin.Agreed. How hard is it to observe and memorise someone's four-digit code? Not as hard as brazenly forging a signature, I reckon. But apparently chip and pin is more secure!!!   Critique 24-02-2005, 12:44 PM Agreed. How hard is it to observe and memorise someone's four-digit code? Not as hard as brazenly forging a signature, I reckon. But apparently chip and pin is more secure!!!   This has been my argument since they introduced it. If I go down to my local shop after dark I try not to use my card because there are always "undesirables" hanging around and what's to stop them from seeing my pin number and then mugging me in the dark on the way home. I thought they were supposed to be done secretly or privately but they just shove the machine at you in full view of everyone else. A daft idea indeed and another thing that annoys me - haha did you see how I kept that on topic ;) Cockney 24-02-2005, 01:19 PM Oh God Cockney that's bluddy horrible, your poor Mum! I get so angry with these b*stards who target old ladies !!! My grandma has been mugged before now, and she is a frail 85 year old. She fell and broke her arm. Isis 24-02-2005, 03:57 PM Ohhh Cockers, sorry to hear about your Mum, hope she is ok........ My biggest annoyance has to be "gouged out" junkies, with their eyes rolling (a la Pete Doherty) in the back of their heads, sat begging under the ATM at my bank.....it INFURIATES me :ranting: get a fecking job and support your own filthy habit!!!!! The other thing I am FURIOUS about at the mo, a lad I grew up with is a heroin addict, and he is working his way round the parents of all those he grew up with, giving them the sob/bullsh*t story to con them out of money - my friend Blondies mum got ripped for 30 quid on Monday, and then I speak to MY mother and tell her about it, and she admits that he ripped her off for 40 quid just before I moved to Devon, but she wouldnt tell me because (apparently) "I know what you are like" and its not like they live in an inner city, they live in a small pretty village on the outskirts of Leamington, where everyone knows everyone and our poor parents dont know about the scourge of heroin in this country (well my poor old Mum does thanks to my dead brother in law)......gawd help the scumbag when I go back up, I have sent a message that I will be paying him a visit when I am up and that I am livid, he always was a bit scared of me   |
