View Full Version : Walk-O-Meter
Haydon 31-10-2004, 02:43 PM Do you think you walk a lot each day? How many steps does it take each time you walk to the coffee machine?
Order a free Walk-O-Meter (http://www.walkers.co.uk) from Walkers Crisps website. Hurry though.
Once we get our meters we can all compare how far we all walk each day! :D
I already have a couple of these but I don't use them anymore......
Cool, Ive ordered one. It says it'll take 28 days for delivery though!
Andrea 31-10-2004, 05:23 PM Nice one, I've just ordered mine :)
Voice of reason 31-10-2004, 05:59 PM I've got one already, they're great! I was amazed to find that we walked 10 miles a day in Paris last summer.
Coastie 31-10-2004, 07:39 PM I've ordered mine!
I shall be waiting with baited breath for it to drop through my letter box!
Dolores 31-10-2004, 09:12 PM I've just ordered mine!
My feet are usually aching from walking so this will let me know if my feet hurt from walking a long way or just from carry my ample sized body!
Coastie 31-10-2004, 09:13 PM I hope mine isn't like a tamagochi that dies if you don't clock up enough miles!
Bonsai 03-11-2004, 09:45 AM On another forum they were talking about these, and from what i have heard they dont work terribly well.
One guy walked about 5 miles, and when he checked the walk-o-meter it said he had walked 9 steps :D
Others have had a similar experience, although one had sat on his backside all day, only to look at the meter, which said he had walked 4,000 steps :p
Well it is free so I suppose you can't really expect it to work very well ;)
floopy 03-11-2004, 06:39 PM Current delivery time is within 45 days :(
I'm going to strap mine to the baby and see for far she would have walked if she could walk....
I bought a pedometer whilst training for the Moonwalk - I use it daily and am always amazed at how many steps I do - even just staying in the house and doing housework.
I did a few hours in the kitchen at my sisters pub - rustling up a 'leedle something' for the punters and I walked 5 1/2 miles!! I was astounded!!
They reckon you should be walking about 10,000 steps a day which roughly equates to 5 miles - honest you will be surprised at how much you actually do walk - when you wear it daily morning to night!!
Haydon 25-11-2004, 10:11 PM Well it's the moment you have all been waiting for!!!! (well maybe not)... but it's arrived!!!
Yes, my very own Walk-o-meter arrived yesterday. It's a lovely seethrough shade of red with a silver panel... that is scratched. :glare: Looks like someone has kicked it around. anyway... today, according to my new toy, I've take the grand total of 1844 steps.
I'm a lazy git. :cool2:

Ooops I left the lazy git bit in!! Well bless my skinny skin skin!!
Did you order yours on the 31st Oct then H? Then the rest of us should get theirs within the week - que?? I hope so cos my darned thing has broken and although I can still use it in my pocket - it won't clip onto to trackie bottoms or running shorts!
Haydon 25-11-2004, 10:21 PM I feel so ashamed. Although, I'm sure it doesn't record my steps properly.
Yes, I ordered it the same day that I started this thread.
Mine arrived a few days ago. To test it, I strapped it to my belt and took about 20 steps out in the garden.
The walkometer displayed 7 :glare:
Andrea 25-11-2004, 11:05 PM I got mine a couple of days ago, but gave it to my friend as she hasn't got one so I don't really know if it works that well.
I've ordered a couple too, no wonder the delivery time is so long.
PJ, I'm rather hoping mine will return the opposite results to yours so I can kid myself that I take more exercise than I actually do. How long did yours take to arrive?
It actually did take 28 days as they said it would!
I got one of these too.....it duly arrived in said 28 days.....but is absolute crap....my hallway is about three steps wide(big ones mind) and according to the walk o meter it was about nine....gave it to the kids to play with...
survivorfan 26-11-2004, 06:17 PM I like it! Mine said 12 steps before I strapped it on, so that makes me healthy without even having to move.
Voice of reason 26-11-2004, 06:31 PM I got mine a couple of days ago, but gave it to my friend as she hasn't got one so I don't really know if it works that well.
Lol Andrea! Now there's a cunning plan, why didn't I think of that? :wink2:
catterall 26-11-2004, 07:01 PM My son works at McDonalds and got me one 'cos all the staff got issued with 'em but I dropped it down the loo and it stopped working. He got me another and guess what - yep I did it again. Moral of story - unclip it from your joggy bottoms before you go.
Coastie 30-11-2004, 08:24 AM I did 10200 steps yesterday and 8952 the day before......I shall probably clock up 50 steps today as I'm back at work and tied to my desk for the next 12 hours!
