View Full Version : Kate Thornton - what are your views
Dolores 06-11-2004, 08:28 PM Each week she annoys me and i can't ever put my finger on it. This week I realised it's the robotic-ness of her presentation style. She never ad libs, she says the same thing everytime and she doesn't seem to be very friendly to the contestants - oh and she shouts alot!
Although she is a very attractive woman and always looks lovely down to her waist, every week in the full length shots i think her frocks look really yuk and frumpy, they are a funny length and a funny style - usually A-line.
Do other love her look and presentation style?
jaycee 06-11-2004, 08:39 PM I can't bear her - she can't control the show & has the presence of a wet mop. :p
maxine 07-11-2004, 09:00 AM I like Kate. She doesn't have any annoying mannerisms a la Davina. But I do agree about the outfits, Dol.
Coastie 07-11-2004, 12:01 PM I thought I was alone thinking that her outfits look increasingly awful!
As for her presenting style - since I usually record the show I can forward wind through her parts! :D
tigger 07-11-2004, 02:13 PM I can't stand her. I find her very abrasive and she doesn't quite have the skills to put the contestants at ease. She comes across as overly controlling IMO.
I really like her. I like her banter with Simon, and she does ad lib..very well.
No problemo with the girly at all.
I do agree with her frocks the last couple of weeks tho. Thought the green one last week was bad, but last night she wore a red one the same.
Never mind.
I don't see what everyone finds so attractive about her. I think she looks like some sort of alien
LMAO peej!!
I think she is gorgeous, I love her presenting through adversity [noisy and exuberant audience], but have to agree with her dresses - they are disgusting, pants and sooooooooooo unflattering.
She is going down the Cat Deeley [Stars in Their Eyes] route - with floaty, A line dresses that do nothing for 'hips', even on skinny women. Although she does look good in red. But does anyone else agree there is something odd about her cleavage??
I cannot put my finger on it - but it seems a little too designed!! And I am not sure whether I mean she has had a boob job or not - cos if she has it is very very subtle - but her cleavage starts way too high for a lady with a chest of that size.
Or is this me being paranoid about not having a boob job???
I love Kate - I think she is great :D
But she looks so much better in jeans and a top than a dress - where are the stylists on this show?
girl friday 08-11-2004, 10:16 PM I've never understood her, in fact, I find her to be very 'so so'/middle-ing............she's shouty, but not Davina shouty; she's not very bright, but not too thick, she's sometimes off the cuff/quick witted, but not Ant & Dec level; she's more knowledgeable about music than Cat, but not Jo Whiley level.......and so on, and so on.
That's the best way for me to describe her. Basically, I guess she's just a bit dull.
As for her stylists - typical ITV Saturday prime-time crap - she looks best in funky street wear, so why not just let her wear that? The guests always end up looking better than her, and that's wrong. The hosts should always be the ones looking flawless, not some 2-bit 'pundit'!
Flip - it's ok for her cleavage to be 'high'........except that I noticed that in the red dress she had on, her left breast was lower than the right. That was weird.
does anyone else agree there is something odd about her cleavage??

Or is this me being paranoid about not having a boob job???:sad:OMG Flip you are so on my train of thought there. I too have been puzzling over Ms Thornton's boobies. They are too perfect and like you say Flip her cleavage starts very high up. And have you noticed that she has no sagginess whatsoever under her arms? Even Denise Lewis has some sagginess.
I think if they are real then she has bloody marvellous tits, as even with the best push up bra in world, I couldn't avoid pushing it out at the sides if I were to achieve such an uplifting cleavage.
Boobs aside, I think Kate Thornton is a great presenter of the show, miles better than Davina. I can't be doing with girly silliness just for the sake of it.
She controls those judges too. :)
I just wish they wouldn't dress Kate in a dress - she is like Davina, she looks far better in seperates!
She's so bossy isn't she??
I think she needs to be PJ, to keep the judges in line.
Don't you like a bossy woman? ;)
karenh 14-11-2004, 04:53 PM I've only watched this programme once or twice, and last night was the first time I really paid attention to Kate Thornton....
....and I like her! Hand on heart, I actually thought last night "she's doing a really good job"!
She handled the judges well, she ad-libbed (I thought) very well, and she managed the over-excited crowd during the results show. What more does she have to do? I also though she was nice to the contestants.
As to her styling - well, you may have a point there. Especially about the boobs. In her strapless dress last night, I thought that her boobs looked so squashed togehter that one of 'em was overlapping the other. It looked crap!
But mostly, I like her!
Billy Whizz 22-11-2004, 10:47 AM I met her a few years ago when I did a Saturday challenge on ' Dont Try This At Home'. We spent a lot of time together as we travelled back to London by train from Somerset. At that time, she was very much playing second fiddle to Davina and it showed. She was very sweet and down to earth back then.
Now, however, she is just as big a household name as Davina and I also think she has adopted some of davinas mannerisms, which is a shame because I find them annoying. I believe the more well known she is becoming, the more confidence she is getting and with that, the feeling of self importance. I would bet that if I met her again now, she wouldn,t be half as pleasant to chat to as she was on that train.
I still don't understand why they are dressing her in a dress, the dress on Saturday just didn't suit her. It made her hips look huge..... Why can they dress her in a nice pair of trousers and a little top - she would look far better....
bridge 22-11-2004, 06:11 PM I like Kate, but i agree Davina is false, and i like Kates dresses on the show, but then again i think Jane Goldman has great style!!! say no more.
chris thomas 23-11-2004, 09:47 AM This thread has me in pleats!
I originally searched for this site mainly because my hubby has such a mega crush on Kate. It took me best part of yesterday to find it and as I said on another thread, nearly two hours to log on/register.
'I've a surprise for you,' I said,
'I've found a site with Kate Thornton!' (It doesn't take a lot to make him happy!)
Actually, I like her, I think she is very professional, (more than can be said for the three judges, you half expect a 'handbags at dawn' scenario everytime the get together) her clothes are not the most flattering, but appropriate for the show.
She was brilliant in the shows leading up to the finals. She managed to be impartial and sympathetic to the contestants, however dreadful they were.
I can imagine she'd be a good laugh on a night out in the pub too.
Come on guys, let's hear it for Kate, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her!
CK.
Ousetunes 23-11-2004, 03:21 PM Think she's doing fine, albeit with a wierd dress sense. Still, wouldn't do for us all to be the same (especially as I'm a fella: Thoses dresses just aren't me).
The only huge, enormous irritant is the adverts. I missed Saturday's showing so watched it all, including the Xtra Factor on Sunday night, ITV2. There must have been between 12 and 15 commercial breaks, each time showing the same adverts! Frankly it spoils the show. It breaks the rhythm.
Bonsai 23-11-2004, 03:48 PM Your right, the adverts are a pain in the behind. I tend to record the show now, so i can skip through the ad breaks.
bustywench 25-11-2004, 05:42 PM She's pretty innocuous really. Yes, her stylist should probably be tarred and feathered, but I liked what she wore most recently. She needs a dropped waist style and something slightly flared over the hips as she has a kind of straight up-and-down figure. Boots, a shorter skirt and opaque tights would probably work quite well as her legs are a bit underwhelming and the camera's very unforgiving.
As for the boobs... I'd wager that they're real. I know what you mean thought- it's the connected look- where the two boobs just seem like one entity. Looks a tad weird, but I think that some girls are just born that way- or else it's a result of a bit too much gym time. Muscular boobs are definitely iffy.
Muscular boobs are definitely iffy.
Thats it busty - they are muscular looking - that is why they appear a bit 'odd' - still love her though - despite her 'two pack'!!
Kate looks best in her jeans and trendy little t-shirts. I don't think these floaty high waist type dresses suit her at all.
Answering a comment earlier about Davina..when I went to Victors eviction, and was in the studio..she seemed really nice, not what I'd expected at all. She was very funny on stage between the live bits.
:bye:
Voice of reason 27-11-2004, 07:04 PM Thought Kate looked fantastic tonight, that green really suited her. BTW, I have that muscle thing going on with my chest too, don't knock it, in the absence of boobs defined pecs will do for me! :wink2:
Thought Kate looked fantastic tonight, that green really suited her.
Agreed, she looked lovely tonight :)
yep, she looked good - even liked the glittery eyeshadow (is this in vogue??? don't think my children at school could cope with this  ).
And dosn't she handle Simon so well. Oh and noticed the solid booby pecs...better than my flappy jaffa's anyday so I cannot comment.
The only thing that has tainted Kate's good books with me, is that she is friend of Natalie....just can't see this....'Can't do it'
maxine 27-11-2004, 07:39 PM I thought she looked bloody awful tonight. The worst dress so far. The sort of the thing old ladies wear to 'come dancing' nights except for the plunging neckline.
And Cat, my husband said exactly the same about Kate being Nat's friend.
Dolores 27-11-2004, 07:42 PM I thought as usual Kate looked lovely from the waist up but from the waist down the dress was frumpy, dowdy, a horrible colour and looked like a nightie in the full length shots.
I dont' like her presentation style either, she has no charm for me at all.

i so agree with you, i absolutely hate her too, she winds me up something chronic and totally puts me off watching the show! she needs to be fired!! do the producers not realize how hated she is. and how annoying and frustrating she is watch!
also i do not like her look, probably because i dont like her! but still i dont see what the fascination is, she isnt all that pretty and she dresses wierd. please for god sake get rid of this bloody awfull woman!
survivorfan 28-11-2004, 09:36 AM I'm not keen on her. Good looking yes, but as a presenter too severe and over-dramatic.
I like her. She's pleasant and professional, and a rare example of a TV show presenter who actually presents. (We have prima donna presenters a-plenty - I don't think we don't need another one.)
And I think she deals with her personal stress very well, too. It can't be easy keeping those judges in order, week after week, particularly when two of them are playing by different rules to the official ones, and the other one is her powerful employer.
And, finally, I'd like to mention that after reading this thread I couldn't look away from her muscular chest last night. Thanks, guys.
Ceridwen 28-11-2004, 10:31 AM I'm glad she lost her rag last night with that irritating cow Rowetta. A more professional presenter would have kept their cool and spoiled the fun but good old Kate just couldn't hide how peed off she really was!!
I just wish they'd put her on "I'm A Celeb" when Natalie was doing her BTT's, she'd probably have thumped her!!
I like Kate. She is so real. En she has a podium presence. Nice lady.
isleofweather 07-12-2004, 11:17 AM She has morphed into a chav version of nell mcandrew if you ask me
I like her, always have. I think she suits the programme and is genuine with her emotions.
Ben Shepherd has a not to learn.
:bye:
Bonsai 09-12-2004, 10:41 AM Ive grown to like her too. I like the fact that she is quite stern with the contestants and audience, and that she doesnt mind showing that she is a bit peed off when they dont listen to her.
I think she will now go on to do other shows after this.
I thought i would miss Ant and Dec presenting it, but she has done a grand job.
tigger 09-12-2004, 12:07 PM Ive grown to like her too. I like the fact that she is quite stern with the contestants and audience, and that she doesnt mind showing that she is a bit peed off when they dont listen to her.
That's the bit I really don't like about her.
