View Full Version : How your day ends depends on how it begins is.....
Woodstock 04-02-2005, 01:15 PM According to some, I'm being "disrespectful" for pointing out that "how your day ends depends on how it begins...." is utter garbage. I dislike honesty - and I deem this to be a dishonest statement. Life situations can change at the flick of an eyelid......
This has nothing whatsoever to do with Morph as a person. How could it possibly be, when I do not know her. It's directed at the complete eejit who concocted this "pearl of wisdom" on the basis that they one day got out of bed and nothing of any noteworthiness happened for the remainder of their day.....
Andrea 04-02-2005, 01:22 PM I personally think it does represent some truth.
If your day starts off miserable, you will end up being miserable for most of the day.
But if your day starts off good, your feeling chirpy, happy, and altogether in a good mood, your day is going to finish differently than that of the first example.
But then I suppose we could go all philosphical and say that other external forces are in play as to what the day may bring.
But no, I agree with Morph.:)
Cockney 04-02-2005, 01:26 PM I agree with Andrea
But you just wouldn’t let it would you
you could of let it lie
but just wouldn’t let it lie

floopy 04-02-2005, 01:33 PM I don't think the issue is with the statement, I think it's more about referring to someone's mantra/motto/whatever as "utter garbage". Morph obviously feels an affinity with it, or she wouldn't have added it to her signature. Your comments were quite aggressively dismissive of that.
Besides, if you wake up in New Zealand, you're more than likely going to go to sleep in New Zealand; if you wake up and it's snowing, it's unlikely to be tropically warm when you go to bed.
So yes, there is some truth to the statement.

I was allowing it to lie, but Buzz began hovering and awoke the issue once more. Nice to see everyone thus far is wrong.....but your all looking cute huddled up together in that pasture......:)

survivorfan 04-02-2005, 02:12 PM I think if you start the day with your head up your own **** you will end the day with your head up your own ****.
Ceridwen 04-02-2005, 02:48 PM Quite.

Agreed. :excl:

yes it's nice to be amongst friends.......gets cold out on your own!
I dunno - I have had cack starts to the day that have ended up trillions of times better at the end of the day.....
and vice versa......its how you DEAL with it that determines the outcome IMO
tigger 04-02-2005, 03:10 PM I agree Queenie, my days often start out rubbish but generally end up really good. :)
Coastie 04-02-2005, 08:27 PM If I go to bed having had a totally poo pants day emotionally I often wake up still alittle low but generally better for the rest.....
If I'm whacked from overdoing it physically the I wake up refreshed.
I dream exciting dreams which leave me feeling ready for anything after a boring day before.
I have scarey dreams if I'm stressed or angry and wake up anxious.
karenh 07-02-2005, 06:11 AM In my opinion, there is some truth in the statement but its not set in stone. It is more likely that if your day starts badly it will end that way to, and vice versa, but of course things can happen which change that liklihood.
Either way, it's a nice, lighthearted statement. Another nice, lighthearted statement is "You shouldn't make a mountain out of a molehill".
Sometimes its better just to say sorry and move on.
Woodstock 07-02-2005, 06:46 AM Having given it some (just a little mind.....I am a stubborn sod after all...) thought, I actually can relate to it myself - to an extent anyway, but I think the eejit who thought up the phrase implies that every day is like this, "how your day ends depends on how it begins" as if he/she is telling you that that's the way it is and no argument...so there! But, if there was a simple word like "often" or "sometimes" or "occasionally" sandwiched between "ends" and "depends" then perhaps it would carry more weight.
Absolutely no offence meant there Morph. Little things like this tick me off - it was just a literary observation.
Friends?

I loved your little pic... how do you do that?
Woodstock 07-02-2005, 08:20 AM who's Zig Ziglar Claire?? - I love that name though, I'm just pondering whether I might be able to pinch it for a character name in one of my future (he hopes) novels or short story's.
Everything has a knock on effect... if you wake up in a bad mood then you're moody, people notice you're moody so avoid you a little and you carry on being moody... maybe you win the lottery and you cheer up, but usually, it ain't gonna happen!
I spent all week last week in a bad mood, I just couldn't pick myself out of it, especially when I landed myself in an awkward situation with a friend mid-week... I warned people to avoid me, but no one tried to cheer me up... had they and I might have ended up happy! But no... I was like a beer with a sore head all week!!
Môrph™ 07-02-2005, 11:01 AM "how your day ends depends on how it begins...." is just a quote that I happen to like :bored:
Time to draw a line under all this now, don't you all agree?

I don't actually know, but he came up with that wise little saying so I have to put his name there or else it will be stealing... :wink_kiss
