Am I the only one who hates this silly mare?

View Full Version : Rowetta PJ 07-11-2004, 05:07 PM Am I the only one who hates this silly mare? Coastie 07-11-2004, 05:15 PM I appreciate that she has an incredible voice but no I don't like her either Peej. :( She just doesn't sing the kinda of music I enjoy and when she does sing a song that I like her interpretation of it just doesn't get me excited.... :( PJ 07-11-2004, 05:51 PM See, I don't even like her voice never mind her personality... Cat 07-11-2004, 05:58 PM Sod her voice, she dosn't like Steve.....that alone should say it all. Taffy 07-11-2004, 05:59 PM Am I the only one who hates this silly mare? Nope Peej She, reminds me of Cleo Lane (with a little bit of Bassey imitation mixed in) There is only one Shirley Voice of reason 07-11-2004, 06:03 PM I can't take to her either I'm afraid. Like Cat I can appreciate that she can sing although it isn't a voice I particularly like and I certainly wouldn't buy her records. I really disliked the comment she made last night in which she begged the viewers not to send her back to singing backing vocals for the 'Happy Monday's' - a job some would be only too delighted to take up! I wouldn't be devastated if she won, but I don't like her. tigger 07-11-2004, 07:53 PM I'm not overkeen on her voice either, and I'm always wanting her to sound more feminine and raise her voice an octave, she has an incredibly low voice. She would do well in the soul field though. Flip 07-11-2004, 09:00 PM I know what you lot are saying, she does irritate me as well - BUT!! I think she has been thwarted all her life, she has never 'quite made it' and I think she is so hopelessly insecure and a lot loopy. There is no doubting in my mind that her voice is 'quality' - and in the same 'superstar' league as Bassey, Warwick and Streisand - but her 'love me, love me, cos I am a helpless, hopeless, nutter' does drive me to distraction. I would be gutted to see her win - however, I just am in love with Tabby!! There I said it! Sylvia in Stilettoes 07-11-2004, 10:28 PM I adore Rowetta. She is one fantastic singer and is in a league of her own.I really want her to win this. :) You all going to shoot me now? Scooby 07-11-2004, 10:33 PM You all going to shoot me now? I won't! I'm right there with you, only I'm wearing a bullet-proof vest. Rowetta is really ace, and has large curly hair. WINNER! cheerio! Sylvia in Stilettoes 07-11-2004, 10:45 PM I won't! I'm right there with you, only I'm wearing a bullet-proof vest. Rowetta is really ace, and has large curly hair. WINNER! cheerio! Yah Scooby.....good on you!!! ils 07-11-2004, 11:30 PM I won't! I'm right there with you, only I'm wearing a bullet-proof vest. I'll join you as well - I like Rowetta ! Bella 08-11-2004, 06:35 AM I do like Rowetta!! Yeah, she is mad, loopy and so utterly insecure but she does have something, she has definitely got a bit of the X-Factor. I would buy her records, and would love it if she won! Minklemar 08-11-2004, 01:20 PM I like Rowetta and at the moment I'd quite like to see her win it. Sylvia in Stilettoes 08-11-2004, 01:22 PM Here's a link to her site. http://rowetta.bizland.com/ Its not great but worth a look. :) maxine 08-11-2004, 01:59 PM I'm another one who can appreciate that Rowetta has talent but I don't like her voice. I didn't much like her personality at first but she's grown on me and I think she and Simon have formed a nice and genuine bond. Aspen 08-11-2004, 02:58 PM I like her voice but she annoys me every time she cries Coastie 08-11-2004, 07:12 PM See, I don't even like her voice never mind her personality... I don't like her voice either Peej but have to admit it is very powerful and she can sing in tune......her style and sound doesn't come to within a hairswidth of rocking my boat! And well if she doesn't like Steve....even bigger poo lumps in her saggy undies to her is all I can say! Bonsai 09-11-2004, 08:55 AM She doesnt do anything for me im afraid. I thought she was trying to be the next Shirley Bassey, and she should try and be herself rather than someone else. I find her voice a bit too low, and i find my mind wanders as she sings. She does have a fabby voice, but it isnt my cup of tea. Im also fasinated by her mouth when she talks. If she wins i hope they encourage her to get down to the dentist and have some work done. JulieHHHH 12-11-2004, 03:35 PM Rowetta SUCKS! She does not deserve to win, she sings like Mr Bean, and she is completely off her rocker, she needs to be KICKED OUT NOW! :boxing: floopy 12-11-2004, 07:44 PM and who does deserve to win, Julie? Scooby 13-11-2004, 12:01 AM Rowetta is AMAZING! She does not deserve to lose, she sings like an angel, and she is completely off her rocker, she needs to WIN NOW! :boxing: Hello Julie Four Aitches. You are so right! cheerio! Sylvia in Stilettoes 13-11-2004, 12:11 AM Hello Julie Four Aitches. You are so right! cheerio! Naughty, naughty Scooby. Cat 13-11-2004, 10:10 AM ooh like the new shoes Sylvia, are they your christmas party shoes? Sylvia in Stilettoes 13-11-2004, 10:47 AM ooh like the new shoes Sylvia, are they your christmas party shoes? I'd like to change my avatar regularly but I've had great difficulty finding small enough pictures. This was the best I could come up with but its not great. That'll do until I find another small picture. :) Cass 13-11-2004, 12:40 PM I think Rowetta is the eventual winner and I love her voice, Simon was right when he said she is a great singer. The only one I can see coming close to her is Tabby but I dont think it will do his 'rock cred' any favours if he wins. karenh 13-11-2004, 07:12 PM I don't know much about her personality but I think she has a fantastic voice. I like soul as a genre and she does it well. She might be nuts, she might have had a hard life, she could be a total b!tch. None of that matters in a talent contest as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to see her win myself. PJ 14-11-2004, 09:50 AM Nope - I still don't think there's anything special about her voice. I thought she was very mediocre last night. Btw - cass, is that your eye in your avater? Cass 14-11-2004, 12:58 PM Btw - cass, is that your eye in your avater?[/QUOTE] I wish - no it's not but it is the same colour, I don't know whose it is just googled for it chris thomas 23-11-2004, 04:37 PM I like Rowetta, all her life history is in her voice which I think is phenominal. As long as she sings and doesn't talk! I heard someone on the radio that listening to her speak reminded them of Bo Selecta's Mel 'B'  and I can't seem to get that out of my mind now! Cos she does! CK kookycat 23-11-2004, 06:16 PM why does she look like she will burst into tears when ppl are telling her nice things? did i miss something? Sylvia in Stilettoes 24-11-2004, 11:36 PM I think Rowetta is the eventual winner and I love her voice, Simon was right when he said she is a great singer. This evening I downloaded Rowetta's five songs from the shows. They are fabulous and well worth having if you are a Rowetta fan.Providing its only for your own use you can download the songs here. http://www.pop-idol-uk.com/ Tracks are available in 'Audio Lounge' of above site. :) Critique 25-11-2004, 05:19 PM I love Rowetta - I don't think she will win because I think people will go for Tabby or Steve but she has a wonderful voice (just given the wrong songs to sing which makes me livid). I have written a great long spiel about the song I would choose for her on the thread "what should they sing". I think it would give her a much better chance because it would suit her so much. Sorry to repeat myself but it is the old Iris Williams version of the theme from the Deerhunter called "He was Beautiful". It's old enough for not a lot of people to remember Iris Williams but the tune will probably be familiar to folks and I really want to hear her sing it. It's so "her". If anyone has a hotline to Simon Cowell - just tell him please :) bustywench 25-11-2004, 05:28 PM why does she look like she will burst into tears when ppl are telling her nice things? did i miss something? I think she's probably had a very hard time of it in the past. At least, it seems that way. She's definitely... not... stable, to point out the bleedin' obvious. Still, I think she has talent, just by virtue of the sheer emotion she can invest in a song. But I don't find watching her perform a comfortable experience, then again, I feel the same way about the whole bunch, barring maybe Steve who has a very easy, natural manner. Steve or Rowetta, I think. =) Lyndsay 27-11-2004, 01:23 PM I'm not really keen on any of them, the only one I think has a nice tone to his voice is Steve. Rowetta just shouts a song, to me. She doesn't seem to have a volume control, and I don't like the sound of her voice at all. It REALLY does sound like Shirley Bassey singing. She seems really highly strung, and is a drama queen, not keen on that sort of a person. Nox 27-11-2004, 04:06 PM The on the brink of tears stuff, annoys me too Kooky. Fair enough if Rowetta won, I'd expect the flood gates to open, but it's every time anyone says anything nice to her. Would be interesting to see her reactions if the judges were mean to her. I wonder if she's as quick to get angry as she is to cry. Critique 27-11-2004, 05:27 PM Awww - give her a break, lol. This is Last Chance time for her. She must have thought that fame had passed her by and now here she is in the spotlight and at least in with a chance. I'm filling up here ;) Voice of reason 27-11-2004, 05:43 PM The on the brink of tears stuff, annoys me too Kooky. I wonder if she's as quick to get angry as she is to cry.She had a face like a slapped @rse last week Nox, when Lou Lou told her she sounded like a mix between Shirly Bassey and Cleo Laine (which she did) and yes, she filled up just the same, and got deffensive to boot. Lyndsay 27-11-2004, 10:01 PM So glad she went. She is SO RUDE! Just walks across interviews, goes to chat to who she wants during Live TV. Didn't take it well either. Sorry love, but you didn't cut the mustard. Mandyb 27-11-2004, 11:50 PM But I think it has to be Steve now ... don't you all?? ils 27-11-2004, 11:52 PM After tonights performance, I would say no! Taffy 28-11-2004, 01:47 AM But I think it has to be Steve now ... don't you all?? Thinks it's G4 4 me PJ 28-11-2004, 01:55 AM So glad she's gone! I think she has a horrible voice! Sorry love, but you didn't cut the mustard. Completely agree Lyndsay - she is, as Simon put it himself, unmanagable - and quite honestly I bet he is sighing a huge sigh of relief that she didn't get through. Can you imagine having to manage an unpredictable, unstable and barmpot looper like Rowetta?? Mind you she does have a super voice. Critique 28-11-2004, 11:47 PM Well the show's over for me - lost interest now Rowetta has gone  |
