Runs upstairs to bathroom, no taps running.....runs back down...MR CAT! MR CAT (outside having a cigar)....quick there is water coming out the ceiling.

Upon which both Mr & Mrs Cat run gazelle like up the stairs, two at time and came to a shuddering stop in the bath room.

"Where is it coming from" exclaimed Mr Cat as his eyes wildly scanned the small bathroom

"There it is!...its the radiator leaking  ".

So the bolt was tightened and the water stopped dripping.

Sorry got a bit Coastified there.

DYJLIW...you can resume previous position without the dripping of water.

Don’t you just hate it when you are suppose to be moving on Wednesday but your solicitor has made a cock-up and now your not moving till Monday maybe because they can be sure by they will try and you still haven’t packed everything but the best part is that now your unpacking things that you now need that you already packed
In addition, you still don’t know if it’s all going to happen as you still haven’t exchanged contracts and your solicitor is as about as good as a chocolate teapot

And your wife is off her head with raging hormones and blaming it all on you and the other people are ringing you dally to ask you what is happening and all you can tell them is you don’t know because your solicitor never rings you and when you ring them you sit on hold for twenty minuets and your on your mobile because you had your phone cut off because you thought you where moving but you can still use the internet because the company you use take up to two weeks to disconnect your line but you may be cut off any moment and your dreading that they will cut it off before Friday night because you know your wife will shout at you even more

And you still have lodes to do but you cant be asked because you have I groin strain from lifting all the boxes and stuff

Im really sorry to hear your news Cockney. Moving house is soooo blummin stressful isnt it. I know the last time i did it i swore never again. The stress is often too much.

I know our buyers managed to get our phone number (they read it off my husbands driving school headboard) and they called constantly .... and normally it was bad news. I hated the fact that they called me direct instead of going through the estate agents.

It all turned out OK in the end though, and im sure everything will be fine with you too.

Just hang on in there, give one another a cuddle and try to feel positive.

poor old Cockney and Floopy ... but Cockney you musn't make Floopy out to be such a dragon ...I'm sure it's just not true!

I've NEVER had a smooth move ... life isn't like Coronation Street is it, where they put their house on the market, get a buyer, find somewhere to move into, sign contracts and are having a housewarming party all within the first 10 minutes of an episode! ... and yet we have to wait twenty five friggin episodes for Katie to do the decent thing and top herself!!!!!

Ooh, Cocks & Floops, you have my every sympathy. Do as Karen says, get a babysitter and go out for a nice meal. Floops needs all the rest she can get and you don't need the stress either.

Our house has been on the market for just 2 weeks now and our seller's sols have phoned every day hassling our solicitor about our sale. I wished we never bothered to buy now, I am so tempted just to say stuff your house and look elsewhere.

We have had an offer but it is £10k less than we want and it is from a property developer - bloomin' cheek he was told where to stick his offer!

Wow Cockers, I found this bit slightly worrying because I used to be a Legal Secretary and did a lot of conveyancing and it's usually impossible to exchange contracts and complete on the same day! I know it can be done but it's not normal practice from my recollection.

If you're buying and selling it is usual to exchange contracts (just an agreement that the whole thing will happen) on both the sale and the purchase at the same time, so that you don't find yourself committed to buy without also having the sale sewn up and vice versa. Once contracts are exchanged there is usually a lot of work to be done like Searches at the Land Registry (which can take blooming ages) and all the other legal requirements before the final Conveyance is prepared and signed, the completion date is finally agreed on and that's the date you usually move and keys are exchanged. The keys business can be a nightmare too because even if you get to the completion date, if the estate agent hasn't got the authority to release the keys you can end up sitting outside your new place complete with furniture, waiting for the release of the keys!

I've know this happen many times. I've also spent many lunch times frantically typing up Conveyances because if I didn't, some poor soul would be in just that situation.

I expect there is an explanation for this, though, and that you have it under some sort of control.

Anyway, I hope it all goes well for you.

Cockney
19-05-2005, 02:27 PM
Ya.... thanks for that Critiqute

but they have already done the Searches at the Land Registry and all the other legal stuff Like what we are leaving and what they are leaving and are we clearing the loft how much is the water rates and all the other sh*t

it just a bit paper from our bank that we are waiting for with out going in to much detail but it has to be sent to them and then they sign it and send it back and then we exchange contracts but just doing that can take four days with second class post and that is if they deal with it straight away

Our buyers and sellers both hate me

what ****iss me off is that they have had the purchase stuff for six months and the tosser of a solicitor only looked at it last week and was trying to sort this out by Tuesday and couldn’t

Have you tried the chicken fillets, Patsy. I tried them out when I was shopping with my....ahem.... personal shopper in John Lewis, but they didn't really fit well with the outfit, but I would consider getting them. Again, on the dating scene.......waking up in the morning, instead of false teeth and a wig at the side of bedside cabinet, you will have your chicken fillets! :D

DYJLIW....

you have finally dragged your backside out of the computer chair, cleaned up the old newspapers, empty envelopes from yesterday's post and assorted paperwork that was lying around, emptied wpb, washed ashtrays, plumped cushions etc.

Made bed, picked up and tidied away assorted clothes, put on a washload.

Cleared worktops in kitchen which was piled up with packets and boxes from shopping that you were too tired to find a space for yesterday, emptied rubbish bin, emptied dishwasher and refilled it, mopped kitchen floor.

Hoovered all through.

Made hubby a cup of tea when he came in from work and he's sleeping peacefully (after 4 am start), had a shower, dressed and flopped back in computer chair feeling very satisfied but.....

DYJHIW...

you suddenly remember why the spare bedroom/grandson's room door was kept shut! I guess I haven't finished yet :(

I HAVE A GREAT DYJLI & HI IN ONE

As some of you know I'm using public transport and my legs to get about at the moment. The bus home is half an hour after I finish and I hung around a bit after to kill time but not too much becasue the boss gets funny about hangers on. So I walked the bus route for 20 mins and stopped at roughly the time the bus was due but as I hate standing still I decided to walk to the next one thought I had enough time, but when I was half way between the two the bus came!
I didn't know which way to run and it just went straight past, the next one was an hour later.
I walked a bit further until I came to a pub and went in to have my first pint on the NY.
Good move :smartie:
What a gorgeous friendly little pub with a massive open fire and really lovely locals. I joined in the game of cards and had a good laugh.
I might miss the bus again tomorrow.
The bus driver is hilarious too, it was the same one and he keeps giving me little tips- like I've never been on a bus before.

Awww thanks Dol. No I dont think i will get another one. I didnt really want a rabbit in the first place, but i couldnt see a pregnant one being fed to a snake. She was cute. When we got her she was deaf as a post, and towards the end she went blind too .... but she always welcomed a cuddle and snuggle. We did spend a lot of money kitting her out though. She had a 6ft run and a carpet lined hutch to keep her warmer in the winter. It seems a shame to bin them.

Who know. If i do, i will have to think of another name beginning with B :ninja:
