Great show - fab acting, funny and dramatic........this is what all soaps should aspire to be like.

The awards at the NTA last week were richly deserved, and had Bruno Langley won for his amazing portrayal of Todd this year, that would have been soap justice.

Shame it's losing Suranne Jones too at the end of this year, though I dare say Corrie will be sure to replace Karen with another sexy, feisty (and talented) gal!

IMO This is the ONLY soap worth watching ......

I will miss Karen (Surranne) as she makes a great double act with Steve but as GF says I am sure they will replace her will someone who will be as good.

I wish Suranne was staying and that blinkin awful Cilla was going instead. She is just a poisionous evil witch with a easy loose rubber Mary - oh and while they're at it get rid of disgusting Les. God I just cannot abide either of those two.:ranting:

Lol - i cant stand Cilla and Les either. I cringe when they come on the screen. I think with Cilla its her upsidedown mouth.

I love the stuff with Charlie at the moment though. I have heard he becomes a bit of a girlfriend beater ?

I loved the Sunita/Mya story last week, how evil was that!! Poor Sunita, she wouldn't harm a fly...! It should be Dev locked away just for the way he speaks...

One I don't like is Janice, and again it's just the way she speaks, it's horrible!

Karen and Steve are great, shame Karen's going...

Jack and Vera are great, I think they're going too...

They could make something good out of Sally and Kevin, Sally's quite funny while Kevin's just boring...

I like Eileen, she's really quite funny in the way she's so unlucky... they could really find her a man and make them a great couple... same for Fred (only with a woman). Though Fred and Eileen... maybe not...

I read somewhere that the decision to leave Coronation Street was not down to Suranne Jones.Her contract was not going to be renewed and she was allowed to say it was her decision to go.Don't shout at me if this information is incorrect because I read it on the net. :D

I'm glad she's going as I regard her as the Queen of the Nodding Head School of Acting.

Count me in to get rid of Les, Cilla and Janice! Neither of them add anything to the street and their acting is dire, especially Les and Janice's. I agree Flyo Janice's speech is just a joke, surely she doesn't really speak like that! :eek:

My Aunty May spoke just like that - everytime I hear Janice it reminds me of my Aunt.

I wish they would give Janice a better wig, it's getting more squished every episode and is spoiling my viewing. I can't stand her but loved it when she said that Cilla had a face like a "slapped pie"..... pots and kettles !

For lots of reasons, I dont get to see Corrie as much as Id like, however I tuned in the other day to witness a VERY raddled looking Bradley Walsh schmooooozing and flirting with a black girl in the factory. I recognised her as the actress that has been tipped to replace Suranne Jones in the sexy/good looking actress stakes.
Can I just say that she is neither good looking or sexy and her acting was appalling. Corrie either get it spot on actor/actress wise and employ terrific, believable character actors, but when they get it wrong, they get it HORRIFICALLY wrong (think Cieran, Dev, Les and this latest femme fatale) :(

I don't like that new girl either... she's quite terrible, from the moment she came in it...

Talking of bad behaviour off-set, what about the guy who plays Dev - he was cautioned with something to do with price-tag changing!!! Oh-er. wonder how long his character is going to last on Corrie, as he had a bit of a ding-dong with the cast not so long ago! :blink:

I hears this too Bella - and I am nearly ashamed to say that when he first appeared in the street I was a bit smitten by his smooth charm. But I reckon he is going off his rocker a bit at the moment.

First there was the spat with the director, over the scenes with Maya and Sunita at the wedding - when he had a mega DIVA type strop and walked off, supposedly quit and just had a bad day all in all.

Now this latest, arrest and deception allegation!! Woooooh what will happen next??

Looking down at a floor plan of the back yard with the house at the bottom of the picture, the loo is on the left hand side of the yard next to the back gate at the top of the picture - so furthest away from the house.

I know what you mean though, they probably ARE strapped for space re sets. My Aunt visited Granada Studios not long ago and said the street set itself is very small. The cobbled roads width is tiny. Just goes to show how wide angled lens cameras can fool you .....

Corrie Street last night was brilliant, with Cilla and Les going through their lounge ceiling :) I couldnt stop laughing.

I am getting a little fed up with Karen though. Although i think she is a great character, and her relationship with Steve is fantastic - im just tired of her shouting, and gurning all the time. I like her to smile occasionally.

Okay, I admit I havent watched Corrie for months now but I tuned in the other night to see Kevin, Sally, two people I didnt know who Sally was obviously trying to impress and Katie's Mum and Dad all having dinner at a restaurant.

I was stunned to see how much Sally has changed!!!! She used to be a feisty, working class Mum and she seems to have turned into a deluded snob, looking down her nose at her neighbours !!!! :blink: oooh it was horrid.

Ooooh Pandora, you've missed the best snobby bits of Sally then! You should have seen her when she was trying to get her girl into private schooling - I really got to dislike her so much! She's tamed down since then!

I do enjoy Corrie, but the characters annoy me sometimes. I cant stand that girl in the factory who was billed as being the 'new karen'. She cant act for toffee :blink:

I love Ashley and Fred, but Claire leaves me cold. Why anyone would want to marry her is beyond me.

Just been talking about unrealistic stuff on the Eastenders Board. Did anyone think it was crazy the way Karen walked out with just a tiny wheely bag that wouldn't have held her collection of shoes? She was a complete shopaholic so how did she manage to get everything into that trolley :) Also the way she walked out into the snow wearing a tiny jacket and her boobs hanging out!!!

I think it is only the charlie/shelley thing that really interests me in the Street at the moment. When IS she going to see him for the lying, cheating, low-life that he is? I read somewhere that he buys her a dress a couple of sizes too small and tells her to slim into it!!!! Thought it was over Christmas but maybe New Year.

I think this Steve/Karen and the grinning ape (aka Tracy) story is ludicrous and not believable. Firstly Steve adored Karen and there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY he would throw her out just after she had miscarried their child. I am sick and tired of Tracyluv in every scene Steve appears in, does the woman have no dignity or self respect. All she ever does is grin and reminds me of Jack Nicholson when he played the joker in Batman. I also noticed that when there are supposed to be wintry scenes with snow falling everyone is walking around in skimpy tops, short skirts and without a goose bump in sight!!! As for Sally she gets propositioned by the Sleazy Mr Davenport, he tells her that if she wants to keep her job with his company she will have to sleep with him - NO I cant fathom it either, Sally is hardy a sexy young girl any more, with no disrespect to the actress she is a middle aged quite plain woman with thin hair - hardly Demmi Moore!!! Oh Happy Christmas everyone!!!

totally agree about the grinning ape scenario, Tracey seems to have only two expressions and both involve showing teeth. Also she broke up the marriage with Steve and his adored Karen, so he should hardly even tolerate her being near him. Max, funny you should mention that, I noticed something a bit strange the other day there. It looked like Bradley was having breakfast in the hall!! Mmmm, must pay more attention next time to see what is actually going on there. I am sure when Curly had it there were some kind of french windows there.

Max - the mother is Susan, Peter Barlow's twin sister who had a relationship with Mike....or was she married to him, can't remember? Anyway she was killed in a car accident and I think both Ken & Mike got joint custody.

I thought Kevin was extremely off with Roy last night, yeah Roy told Sawphie and Rawsie off but he did apologise. With parents like Kevin & Sally, no wonder Sawphie has severe attitude. I felt awful when they were all laughing at Roy in the cafe, and even though I can't stand the way Charlie treats Shelly (although she only has herself to blame), I was glad that he showed Vince the door and stuck up for Roy. It was horrible to see Roy being bullied and I don't think this is the end of the story-line and he gets all depressed again, but isn't he a wonderful actor? I have seen in a chat-show, can't remember which one and he was totally different, he is just brilliant!

Roy did a brilliant take of of Roy Orbison on Stars in their Eyes a while back. He is an amazing actor and a great guy. I always feel for his character in Corrie, he plays the part so well you believe in him.

I found the bullying of Roy really disturbing, but I suppose it goes to show how good the actors are.
Ive often thought that Roy Cropper deserves a bit more recognition in the TV Awards, but if you're not 30 and goodlooking or 8 and cute, you dont get a look in.
Ive seen him on a chatshow too and he is quite the extrovert. Superb character, and beautifully played by the actor.

Oh and I agree about Charlie and Shelley. If a bloke gave me gym membership and hinted that I could "improve meself", firstly Id show him a mirror and say, "sort your bloody self out first" and then show him the door ! :laugh:

Yes Ive seen them. They are trailers advertising future Corrie episodes, showing Tracy and her voice as a voice-over saying "stalkery type" things ....... Its all done to show us that she doesnt just fancy him lots, but that she is obsessional about him now ..... so therefore, a slightly scarier scenario.

Yes Ive seen them. They are trailers advertising future Corrie episodes, showing Tracy and her voice as a voice-over saying "stalkery type" things ....... Its all done to show us that she doesnt just fancy him lots, but that she is obsessional about him now ..... so therefore, a slightly scarier scenario.

Totally agree Crystal Lights. At first I had admiration for Sally the way she was handling Ian, who basically is a predator and using his position to blackmail her. Then all of a sudden she backtracked completely and is going to drop her drawers yet again. Couldn’t we have had a different outcome? Also if she had stuck to her guns I doubt if he would have sacked her, not only could she have had him for sexual harassment, his wife would have found out and created hell. It’s all a bit daft.

I have heard the bit about Katy and her dad but not about Rosie. So I would say it is probably true!

The only storyline that interests me at the moment is the Charlie/Shelley one. As far as I am concerned, all the rest is just padding. I just can't wait to see what happens when it finally gets through to Shelley that Charlie isn't her darling :)

I find that with all the soaps though, there always seems to be one storyline that interests me and the rest is just plain stupid. I get really irritable when they keep flicking off to something else. Does anyone else think they are doing it more and more now. What I mean is you see a few minutes interaction with, say, Charlie and Shelley and just when they say something interesting and you want to know the reaction, they flick over to blooming Rawsie and Sawphie and then flick back afterwards! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I had heard that storyline and that Tommy grills Sally about it. I knew that Katy was leaving but didn't realise it was going to be in such a dramatic end! I am so glad that Tommy is going though, he is just a loud-mouth bully who is in need of anger management!

I love the Goth storyline, Craig and Rosie (or is it Sophie, I can't remember which is which) crack me up, Craig is just brilliant! The only thing that annoys me Tommy and Angela trying to be funny about it - they are SO NOT!!!

The other storyline that is boring me to tears is the Maria/Tyrone - haven't we had this before with Curly and Raquel? It is so utterly boring and downright depressing! Why on earth would a young, outgoing, flirty girl like Maria want to get married to Tyrone so quickly? She has her whole life ahead of her but she settles for Tyrone because he is reliable. Tyrone, God love him but he is only going to get his heart broken like Curly did. Move on please!!

Yeah Bella - just how much mileage can they get from the Maria/Tyrone storyline. I have lost count of the time she has broken his heart and we all know it's going to happen again (well I would put money on it). If Tyrone was just not that good to look at it wouldn't be so bad but he isn't quite the full shilling either is he. No looks, no personality, no brain. What are we meant to believe she sees in him. Do you think Nick will come back and do a "The Graduate" and run off with her at the altar :laugh:

Sorry I beg to differ, you can still see its him but he left the Street a young man, a bit of a Lothario, and has returned an old man. His bouffant 70s haircut has given away to thin balding locks. Even his voice seems high pitched and different. He is still a good character tho. As for Dierdire's crusty skin, didnt the actress who plays her suffer from cancer a while back? As for her voice - its all them fags what done it. Anne Kirkbride was actually quite a stunna in her youth.

I can't really remember Ray Langton but I do remember a wall collapsing on Tracey when she was a baby, maybe that can explain her behaviour!

I will be glad when the whole Harris family go, I couldn't stand Tommy who mouthed off at everyone. I do find it sad though that he just didn't feel sorry for his actions and that he was so pig-headed and it led to his daughter attacking him.

I did watch Corrie when Ray Langton was in it the 1st time around, although I don't really remember him that much. He looks much the same except a lot older obviously.

There are characters that I really dislike (Tracy, Tommy etc) but without them the programme would be boring.

I have to say though, I did find the overacting a little to much for my liking yesterday.....

Aww Flip - I'm no expert on acting either :blush: We try to judge on what we think is lifelike and believable I suppose but not having been in that situation, we really have no idea how people would react do we? I think it's more a case of Katy's constant quivering and Angela's furtive, haunted looks getting on my nerves, lol.

Am I the only one who can't stand Chesney? Neither the actor nor the character. I know he's only a kid but the other child actors on there are far more realistic than our Chesney. He's got overacting down to a fine art. It's like someone says to him "do happy" and he smiles, "do sad" and he reacts accordingly but it's so "pantomime".

He's such a manipulative character too that I can't really feel sympathy for him - he just gets on my nerves. Sorry to all Chesney fans :blush:

And to think that Corrie used to be the light-hearted soap!! I'll be glad when the Harris storyline is over.

I don't mind the suicide story line can't stand the sobbing anymore and anyway suicide is a fact of life and there will always be subjects that are uncomfortable for some, it must be awful to have personal experience of something so tragic though.

God, I hope Janice's hair is a wig !!! :shocking: As you say though - hair seems a bit of weird thing on Corrie..... Vera's hair is very wiggy, as is Hayleys, Rita's red Danny la Rue wig and Janice's Frankie Howerd hairpiece.
Deirdre's hair has been strange for the last ten years - remember the ghastly home perm ? Corrie need to get a grip at the moment. Some storylines (ie Kayyyeee) are being dragged out far too long and the impact has gone.

I have to ask why on earth is Katie back in the Street after going off with her granddad for a supposedly new life in Sheffield? Did the producers think this story was going to have us on the edge of our seats? On the contrary I go to make a cup of tea when this is on. Did the producers think we would have sympathy for Katie, who has to be one of the most annoying and unlikeable characters ever on the street? I laughed at the way Florence told the ambulance to “get a move on” – er like they were going to stop off for a hotpot at the Rovers!

I know they need a bit of light relief to take it out of the gloom and doom but that storyline about the supposed well in Audrey's garden is just taking the Pee (literally, apparently).

We're supposed to believe that Fred would get rid of the Rovers and invest all his money in something as risky as that - no mention of planning permission, the fact that Audrey's back garden would have to be turned into a mess of excavaters and lorries chugging to and fro. Try a week on Wednesday - Katie dies tonight. Angela is still in prison and Craig is with his Grandad. They didn't own the house, it was part of the witness protection scheme - and therefore likely to be council owned - so with any luck a new family will move in forthwith!!

Corrie have done themselves no favours with this storyline IMO. All of the tabloid critics have been complaining that its just dragged on for too long and that the acting has been hammy to say the least.
