View Full Version : Christmas List - what is on yours?
*Inspired by a post by Bella in the food thread*
Do you write a Christmas list so your family & close friends know what you would like for Christmas or not? And if you do what will you be putting on it this year?
Minklemar 08-11-2004, 04:24 PM No, I don't make a list of what I would like for Christmas - but I do drop a few not so subtle to Mr M around that time, which he never seems to be able to decipher!
This year we are going to Sri Lanka just after Christmas to spend New Year there - that's my Christmas present to Mr M, so at least I don't have to worry about what yo get him.....I'll probably get him some DVD's and gadgety things so he has something to open on Christmas day as well.
maxine 08-11-2004, 04:30 PM I do make a list because Mr M refuses to buy anything that I haven't asked for. I haven't made one yet but it will probably be a list of CDs.
I always write a list now! & I also get my children to write a list as well, so at least I know they are going to use what I buy them.
I can't think of anything worse than buying something that someone is just going to put in a draw and not use or that they will give it to someone else the following year. I would much rather get something I know that person wants and will use.
I haven't really thought about my list yet, but Jamie's cookbook will certainly not be on it
*ils is not and never will be a Domestic Goddess*

Jamie's Dinners is made for people like you, ILS!! Simple, easy and delicious food, honest. I love it for that, it doesn't have your *dinner party* recipes, but basic family stuff. It is the best cook-book I have, in fact at the moment I would regard it as my cook-book bible!
Katie asked me today to write a list........so I guess I better go off and do one!!!
Ceridwen 08-11-2004, 04:49 PM Because I still haven't sold my house, I'm not doing Xmas this year. I have told everybody to save their money and I will be doing likewise.
Unlike Mr C, this fills me with nothing but a feeling of great relief!!

Ok, Ok I lied
Btw - if anyone is thinking of getting me either of these 2 items for a laugh, I would think again !!!
As you would find I would stick them where the sun don't shine and you won't be able to sit down for a week :wink2:

Andrea 08-11-2004, 05:56 PM Hubby has written two lists:ohmy: from his fishing mail order catalogue. I am under instructions that I can get the stuff if I wish or get other stuff, but he says he would be really chuffed to receive any of it. So I guess thats him sorted out.
He's asked me to write a list, but I never really know. All I want is a new printer but he doesn't think that is a good present. I said its one that I want and I will use it alot so I think it is. But with my birthday 4 days after Xmas he's also asking me to write a list for that too. I actually forgot its my birthday soon. Everybody is all wrapped up in Xmas, birthdays often don't get a mention. But hubby is really nice and makes sure he remembers.
Other stuff on my Xmas list is Jamie Oliver book, Michael Moore's DVD's and of course some new slippers:)
Coastie 08-11-2004, 08:16 PM My Christmas list is the same as my birthday list at the mo:
Bottle stops - (cos unlike Flip I can't polish off a bottle in one sitting - te-he!)
Pasta Bowls - I haven't got any decent sized bowls to serve pasta dishes in!
Money towards some DVD's I'm after (I actually was naughty today and bought a DVD set I was after cos I couldn't wait 10 more days!)
Wine glasses - I was given some by a guy a work who had to many but they are so small I'm forecer having to run back to the bottle to top up my glass!
Ermmm that's about it really!
Dolores 08-11-2004, 08:48 PM I always do one, my mum insists on one from about July onwards! The worst words you can hear from her are "I've got you something, it's not on your list, but I'll know you'll like it", which begs the question - why did you ask for a list then, followed by a sense of dread!
On my list this year I've got:
A set of screwdrivers
A paper shredder
A tv card for my pc
...oh deep deep joy, what exciting presents to receive!!
Coastie 08-11-2004, 09:02 PM I've always wanted a full tool kit but some how my dad who is a very, very good builder has never taken my request seriously!
Bonsai 09-11-2004, 09:33 AM Xmas is going to be a small affair this year, but my mum always asks what we want for Xmas so we provide a small list.

Bella 09-11-2004, 05:07 PM I would really love a weeks worth of totally unbroken sleep! :sleepy:
Nigella's new cookbook
Some silver and some really stunning beads to make some jewellery.
I have still to sort out my CD list, can't decide what ones I would like.
Voice of reason 09-11-2004, 05:28 PM Having just had a birthday I'm really struggling to think of anything else I want. I'll probably ask for all my skin care favourites/body lotions etc so that I can stock up to take them to NZ in May.
I have asked Mr V to write a list, he wants a few CD's and stuff but his birthday is on New Year's Day as well and I always try to buy him something separate for thet.
As you know this is a 'makey' Xmas - so on my makey list I would like Mr F to make me:
a studio [although I know there is no chance of that before the day - but I can be patient, as long as he hurries up!!!!!]
so from my sister I have asked for a Pasta Maker
My Mum - slippers, jarmies and or socks
And anyone else - pottys or cook books
Andrea 09-11-2004, 09:43 PM And anyone else - pottys

Only just Andrea - but I like to have a few genuine ancient ones nearby just in case. I have a very small collection of them - that double as pen holders, toilet roll holders, junk and rubbish holders etc...:p
This year I have asked Santa for a Digital Camera - which reminds me, if any of you can give me any advice or any good websites about digital cameras it'd be much appreciated.
