View Full Version : Favourite CD etc
tonee 27-02-2005, 06:31 PM I have just purchased Ray Charles 'Genius loves company' and it is fab. I love most of the people he duets with and the great man himself. Esp his duet with Elton 'sorry seems to be the hardest word' always makes me sad that song. What are your fav cd's?

Oooo I like them, and I have never found anyone else that likes them before :D
Woodstock 04-03-2005, 06:17 AM I don't have a particular favourite among my cd collection - far too many. In the words of Mark Lamarr "far too much music than is healthy for me...."
My most prized possession, and the items that would be the greatest loss in the sentimental sense, if they ever were to be stolen, are my old hip-hop/rap tapes recorded from 86-96 (particularly 86-90, when i would tune in to Piccadilly Radio/Key103 on Sunday evenings 7pm-9pm - those two hours were completely devoted to pressing and de-pressing the pause button on my portable stereo/cassette player). I was hugely into hip-hop in that mid 80's to late 80's period, as it was mostly centred on good harmless lyricising and melody, but now the focus it seems (I'm sure there are some artists out there who carry and wave the old skool flag) is on drugs, b**ches, 'ho's, gang-violence, gang-banging, murder, etc etc, and it bores the pants off me. It's cheap, inciteful, immature, completely unclassy, full of hatred nonsense.
'96-2003, i changed tack slightly and my ears found a new friend in trance, chillout, etc, and that is what the main bulk of my cd collection consists of. A lot of really excellent music in there too, which ultimately forced (my cd's were practically begging me.....) me to spend "big bucks" on a superb twin cd mixer - an item which cost more than my first ever car! (and which i think i am still paying for....)
.....one day i'll use it....
Most of my other cd's are simply "gap-fillers", consisting of popular artists from Louis Armstrong/Nat King Cole, to The Sex Pistol's/Tom Petty and beyond, but the buying has now ceased. I have a bit of everything and that's all i need really.
Crystal Lights 04-03-2005, 09:19 AM At the moment the albums I am listening to are The Killers - i think i am in love with the lead singer from that band...Keane, Scissors Sisters and Snow Patrol.

Nirvana – Unplugged
Rolling Stones – Beggars Banquet
The Doors – The Doors
Pulp – Different Class

Andrea 18-03-2005, 10:59 PM Today I have treated myself to a new cd, well its actually 3 cd's
It's called 12"/80's.
Its got all the 12 inch mixes of loads of really great records from the 80's
A few of my favourites include...
The Cure: A forest.
Soft Cell: tainted love
Scritti Politti: Wood Beez
Style Council: My ever changing moods
Hipsway: The honeythief
Black: wonderful life
Aztec Camera: walk out to winter
Talk Talk: It's my life.
And because its the 12" mixed versions of the singles, they are ace for dancing around in the kitchen when you are making tea.
