Well is it me, or is it crap?
I used to love French & Saunders shows, especially the ones where they spoofed films, like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane etc.....

This series though, it seems like they cant be arsed.

Maybe its time the Beeb stopped chucking money at them and left them to go their separate ways.

I have seen the new series once a couple of weeks ago and while I though it was all very old hat, them trying to make a joke of themselves being past it- I LMAO at the Cold mountain sketch it was hilarious

Have to agree Pandora, I am a huge French & Saunders fan, but this series so far has been really awful.

Must admit I haven't even bothered with it this time, the last few Christmas shows have been disappointing so I wasn't expecting much from this. My kids like it though!

I used to love French and Saunders but they have gone off the boil now so I haven't bothered watching this time either!

I watched this and agree that I wasn't rolling on the floor laughing.
But I did enjoy the sketch they did last night, a take on "Most Haunted" :D

Actually that was the only part I laughed at. Loved the fact that they were taking the pee out of Yvette Fielding's appalling presentation when she reads from the auto-cue...... and I thought the bit where Dawn, dressed as Derek, grabbed Yvette's knockers as soon as the lights were switched off was quite amusing.

Other than that, I never cracked my face.

I fully agree with you Pandora

It gives me time to make a pot of tea, take the dog for a walk (I haven't got a dog) before I settle down to watch "I got news for you" (Brill) & Wossy

Agreed, I really wanted it to be good, I gave it 3 weeks then I gave up.

I dont know what it is, whether they've lost their edge, they've done everything therre was to do and are no having to re-hash second rate stuff or what.

Such a shame as they're both so talented (Ab Fab, Vic of Dib).

I think it's time to quit before they lose their reputations, sadly

It was quite funny the other week when Liza Tarbuck's character said to them "all people want to see is a dog collar and lots of falling over":)

Loved their earlier stuff, watched last night waiting for a laugh which never came - although the Jordan and whatstheotheronesname take-off was good - Dawn French in particular has lost her pizzaz and looks stodgy - they're past their sell by date now I'm afraid.

I haven't made any effort to watch any of this series or the last few. I think there are a lot of "in" jokes which quite frankly I don't get (maybe it's just me) and I don't go to the pictures often enough to know what the film spoofs are about or if they are any good or funny.

it's a shame I used to like them.

However I have to say they appeal to my mum greatly now, she said even my dad cracked a smile the other night at them (which is highly unusual!). So maybe they're appealing to the older generation and have left us younger (!?!?!?) ones behind!

It's a bit unfair of me to judge them i suppose cos Ihaven't seen them for so long.

Dol. I don't get the 'in' jokes either. Is it me, or are a lot of their jokes and sketches directed at people who work in television or film? Unless you're in that particular environment, it has very limited appeal.

Some of the stuff they come out now is just cringeworthy. I recorded the last episode and watched it in about five minutes because like everyone has already said, they just can't be bothered to work on their humour any more and the laughs just aren't there.

In my opinion I thought they were very funny but I never really bothered to watch their early stuff. I love Jennifer Saunders and Dawn reminds me of someone I know who is just as hilarious. The Jordan/Jodie thing was great as was Most Haunted and their time in the office.

I think they should drop this stupid "in the office" routine and concentrate on the parodys. When they do this the laugh quotient goes right up. The Jodi Marsh and Jordan web cam thingey is funny, the p!ss take of Most Haunted was a good idea, I love the two barmy women on the farm that they do, the Catherine Zeta Jones impression is a bit hit and miss but on the right track. One problem with French and Saunders is that sometimes the sketches go on for far too long (ie the office sketches and the sketches in the white room). They can be a bit self indulgent.
Mostly though, their film pish takes are absolutely spot on.
