View Full Version : Embarrassing items in your music collection.
Kittencat 02-03-2005, 12:44 PM We've all got them. Those relics left over from our younger days, now shoved to back of the collection.
Or the ill-advised impulse buy that you never played.
You can't get much more embarrassing than Babylon Zoo....
Minklemar 02-03-2005, 01:14 PM How about 'Save Your Love' by Renee and Renato?
Kittencat 02-03-2005, 01:15 PM How about 'Save Your Love' by Renee and Renato?
Yeah OK, that's pretty shameful...
Voice of reason 02-03-2005, 02:26 PM Well luckily for me I went through all our CD's yesterday and got rid of a few, the most shameful being an 'Aqua' album. I'd have been stopped at customs and deported if I tried to smuggle that in!
Doubtless it will languish in the charity shop for a very long time to come :wink2:

*I had to take her to 2 of his concerts as well* :shocking:

You're not the only one Kittencat. I thought he was the bees knees at the time.
Cockney, stick your elbows out and try not to catch anyone in the eye
That's neat, that's neat, that's neat, that's neat... etc
Mink, so far you win the title for most embarrassing record collection hands down. I am the proud owner of a Phil Colins tape, but it doesn't stand up against such competition as Rene and Renato and Jonathan King. :D

Father????? [laugh]
Your penance shall be to sing three verses of Agadoo, naked, whilst holding two pineapples.
;)

I'd sooner sing "Gang Bang" whilst doing the Conga and fondling two breasts....:)
Kittencat 03-03-2005, 09:16 AM Would you now.
Well if you keep putting me on Ignore that's very unlikely to happen.
You can't get much more embarrassing than Babylon Zoo....
I am guilty of that one too .....
I have got all of my Osmonds, David Cassidy and Bay City Rollers LPs and singles still........
as for you lot and Status Quo....you need to have a serious word with yourselves, the only decent Quo tune is Matchstick Men!!!!!
Kittencat 03-03-2005, 01:14 PM I am guilty of that one too .....
I blame Jas Mann. Those eyes were just incredible, and blinded us girls to the fact that his band was in fact utter pants.

Yeah Jas Mann was quite a looker want he, wasnt he a brummy or a yam yam?
Mr Q RIPPED it out of me when he discovered it in my CD collection, he had over 500 CDs to pick on, and he picked THAT......the git....didnt bother with my "cooooooool" music did he :laugh:
Mind you, I have also got what I call my "dodgy 80's rock" music all on CD too - Marillion - Script for a Jesters Tears is STILL one of my FAVE albums but I dont admit it to many.......Journey are another firm favourite but some find them a bit cheesy......and then there is the Whitesnake collection on CD, Album AND Video - I had a bit of a thang for David Coverdale in the 80's....you may have noticed the trend - long haired rockers were my bag :naughty:

Hello Kittencat,
Oh yes you can, I shouldn't admit to this at all, but when I was teenager I loved the BAY CITY ROLLERS, and even more there sense of fashion. Tartan trousers that looked like they had been off cuts and remained unfinished, with equally dreadful shirts and braces to match.
Still tonight I have just picked my first Northern representative for the region an excellent T REX soundalike. Wow.
Anyone for a boogie, what about a Jeepsters. All tired, shame on you whatevers happened to your nightlife. mmm

Hello Cockney,
You have taste. Neil Sedaka is an excellent classically trained pianist and violinist. A talented song writer who will never be forgotten for Solitaire.
His first UK hit, Was "I GO APE".
Did you know that he was also a major music influence to Elton John, another classically trained musician and song writer.
Neil Sedaka did make a come back a few years ago and I couldn't resist going to see him. His backing vocalists both came from Whitley Bay not far from me.

Coastie 25-03-2006, 12:11 PM I have the first M.C. Hammer album...the one with 'You Can't Touch This' on it...
I love Status Quo...nothing wrong with that
I also have a copy of 'The Stonk' by Hale and Pace...it was comic relief single way back!
msgirl 27-03-2006, 12:54 AM I have some Bay City Rollers cassettes and Wham on vinyl...I hang my head in shame and horror. But, the BCR's were the bomb when I was about 12, OK!!:glare:
Jason Donovan's cover of "sealed with a kiss" :bag:
I confess that I own a copy of "The World of Eddie Grundy" - yes him from The Archers
In my defence - it was only £3 - and I left the sticker on to prove it.
I bought it for a very good reason - honest! I'm a sucker for unusual cover versions and this has a couple of beauties - Pink Floyd's "Scarecrow" and Mike Nesmith's "Silver Moon".
And no - they're not very good - but what the hell!!
I have just found the CD single 'Tubthumping' by Chumbawumba. Awful song. What possed me? :ninja:

I love this song. Makes me feel like this. :w00t:
I can't think of anything that I would feel embarrassed about owning. I bought things because I liked them at the time and, seeing as I've never thrown any of my vinyls away (although many have broken), I obviously still do!

I shall be playing that for the boys later...why? Because I can!
Chingachgook 07-04-2006, 08:49 AM I have the first Cheeky Girls song somewhere. It was a funny gift... which kind of describes their act, actually.
