View Full Version : Guilty pleasures.
Kittencat 02-03-2005, 12:50 PM You know the ones.
The films you pretend to hate but secretly love.
The ones the critics panned but have a place in your heart.
What are your guilty movie pleasures? :D
Crystal Lights 02-03-2005, 02:42 PM Well a recent film i saw and absolutely loved but which was slated by the critic was M Night Shymalyn(sp?) - director of sixth sense, "The Village"...i absolutely loved this movie - great performances from a fantastic cast the gorgeous Jaoqin Phoinix, William Hurt, Bryce Dallas Howard and a truly scarey, forboding atmospheric tale....
I also absolutely love movies that a fair few people dont seem to take to like The Truman show and Eternal sunshine of the spotlesss mind...
I must think of a few others
Becks 02-03-2005, 07:07 PM Still have a love affair with Robin hood prince of thiefs. I watched so much as a teenager that I learned it word for word. I have cut down my viewing considerably now.
"Death Becomes Her" :ninja:
floopy 02-03-2005, 07:19 PM Grease - seen it about 50 times now :w00t:
Bella 08-03-2005, 07:11 PM I loved 'Titanic'
Me too, ILS! I was pregnant with Katie when we went to see this, so hormones were jumping all over the place and I cried buckets as Kate Winslet croaked out "Jack".
I love the Star War films, even Phanton Menace!
Sound of Music - lost count at the number of times I have seen this.
And I still love The Wizard of Oz, reminds me of Christmas, snow and being very young!
Grease - seen it about 50 times now :w00t:
You are a woman after my own heart Floops.....
I just love this film and although I have it on video, I have to watch it everytime when it is on the TV :D
Bella 08-03-2005, 07:13 PM "Death Becomes Her" :ninja:
That was a great film, Peej! It was great seeing Bruce Willis playing a right wimp! Talking of which I was flicking through the digital channels the other day and came across Moonlighting! When this series was on I had the serious hots for him, but he looks really strange with hair.

I did too Bella, but I much prefer him with out hair...
Bella 08-03-2005, 07:44 PM Yeah me too, bald definitely suits him! I really liked Moonlighting way back then too, but watching it now I found a really weird programme, just couldn't make any sense of it at all!

I think I will leave it in my memory banks and not watch the re-runs then!
Coastie 09-03-2005, 12:39 AM Most of my fave films have recieved the recognition they deserve but heres a few that haven't and some that shouldn't have IMHO:
Loved but they didn't notice:
Empire Records - loveably funny cult viewing!
Elephant - mesmerising!
Biloxi Blues - such innocence!
Hate but they loved:
The Thin Red Line (booooooooring)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (you love it or hate it)
The English Patient (yawn)
Titanic (sorry baut the love story ruins everything for me...oh and I really don't like Leonado DiC'r'aprio!
The Aviator
