View Full Version : What should I do for my 40th birthday...

Cat

I will be 40 on the 7th of January, it is a naff day, always has been. No one ever wants to play.

We have been throwing a few ideas about tonight. The one I like best is me and my 2 sisters (both older) and neices (girls only), going to Blackpool or Brighton for the weekend. But that leaves out my 2 lovely brothers...they shoud come too shouldnt' they...(I would like them too).

What has everyone else done for their 40'ths. Does anyone lives where it will rock on the 7th of Jan...it certainly won't in Bedford.

Help me.

Don't know, I'm not 40 yet, but I think I would probably ****** off to Las Vegas for the weekend.

I actually didn't really celebrate my 40th (I just went out for a meal with my children) as my both my parents had recently died and parting just didn't appeal. I've been making up for it ever since! :)

For my 40th I went to Butlins in Bognor with my son, my mum and dad, Max's family and my brother's family - 12 of us altogether. I for one had a fabulous time. We all had something to do and the last night was hysterical with me and Max absolutely drunk out of our brains doing Karokee. It is such a funny video and always makes me cry tears of laughter.

Butlins is a great place to go with a mixed bunch, but if you are all over 18 I've heard the 18+ themed weekend breaks are a scream.

Max is 40 this year and she could do with some ideas too!!!

I love the themed Butlins...are any happening over that week end. Will have to look won't I.

40's a funny year isnt' I hate the fact that my looks are fading away, but I also love the inner confidence inside.

Still wan't to get hammered and larf.

I think a girly weekend away (with 2 brothers and a fistfull of cyber mates) is sounding very appealing.

Mr F took me on a fabulous Caribbean Cruise for my 40th!

This came about as I didn't want to host a party with tons of people I didn't really want to spend my 40th with, and then I had the added probelm of friends and some family who are divorced, and me being me are still friends with both parties - it made the actual list tricky.

So we both spent our money on ourselves in absolute and unadulterated luxury. End result was - I still turned 40 and I still cried and I still hate being older than 36 - so although a fab holiday was had I was as miserable as sin at turning 40 - but I got over it.

Max is 40 this year and she could do with some ideas too!!!

Next year if you don't mind, old timer.

Me and Mr M are both 40 next year, about 6 weeks apart, so we're in the same boat as you Cat, wondering what to do.

We were thinking of having a joint party but he would rather just have a night in a pub with background music whereas I know people I would invite would probably want to have a boogie.

We'll probably just end up doing a separate thing each with our respective families. But that sounds a bit boring and I think I'll regret it if I don't do something big. Then again I just can't be ar$ed to organize anything.

Hi Cat :D

Well, I think you should go out with the girls or even just have a romantic night in with your loved one.. anything which makes you feel better. I'd come for a drink with you if I could! :D

And 40's still young, y'know. I'm sure you don't look or feel it anyway. ;)

karenh
28-11-2004, 04:54 PM
Cat- just make sure you get together with lots of people you love and who love you, and have a larf!!!!

Could be in a restaurant, a private party at your place or a weekend venue - whatever! With these things, its not so much what you do as who you them with that makes them memorable!

Whatever you decide, I hope its a cracking time for you. My 40th is a few years off yet (not as many as I'd like it to be though) and I have already formulated a plan. Its a bit of a pipe dream though and so not likely to happen, but whatever I do, I know who it will be with! :)

FOR YOUR 40TH BIRTHDAY...YOU SHOULD.........

Cover yourself in whipped cream and pop round to Donny Osmonds house and say....'Oh dear I've covered myself with cream and have no spoon...will you help me get it off?'

Or....you could simply go out for a day shopping, meal, cinema and then have a jolly good night! :wink2:

Cat

Invites have gone out...then a load more. We are having a huge party (possibly even with DJ) here, hiring (or borrowing Buzz's) marqee stylee thing.

Huge, it will be huge...all for me.

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

no going out for the day now tho, staying here to supervise. Might fit in a relaxing massage down the road tho.

Getting excited now.

Officially I have had 2 no's and 3 yes's (including you Buzz).

I will keep a running total here.

With the food, which has to be very simple as I get so ****ed and can't be arsed, we are planning to have delivered huge platters of pizza and might make the effort with garlic bread which I can prepare the night before. Of course loads of nibbles will be scattered around. Any suggestions on this?

But most people know me and will have eaten before they come. Especially my sister who was once served a full roast as a finger buffett with raw broccolli I had forgotten to cook. Thought nobody would notice. Everyone was very polite and chewed hard.

:bye:

Edit to say, tony's is going out tomorrow.

Getting very excited now. My 'DJ' has just been round and he is setting his decks up in the bay in the front room! We will have music, lights and A BUBBLE MACHINE!!! Mr & Mrs Buzz are coming round on friday to set up their gazeebo/marquee thingy...which will hopefully lead from the patio doors in the front room along the side of the house.

Fairy lights will festoon and delight.

Cat I know it may be a bit late - but if you got a few clean buckets, you could pour loads of different bottles into each and have cocktail buckets - you know like Tequila Sunrise or Long Island Iced tea - lable each bucket, stick a ladle into each and put them on the kitchen bench along with heaps of glasses/cups - and let the cocktails do the rest!!!

Yikes only 12 hours to go .... good luck and have fun!:drinking: :holiday:

Tomorrow night Mr & Mrs Buzz are coming round (early) to very kindly set up their marqee thingy....and we shall discuss and plan a new entrance to the house as it is so long it blocks the kitchen door. We shall also be decking the halls with fairy lights.

Whilst discussions are taking place we will be drinking with semi gusto.....once plans are finalized we shall celebrate by feasting on a curry.

A very nice lead into a good party.
