View Full Version : Dreams
claire 19-03-2005, 08:53 AM :sleepy:  What do you dream about?
Last night on Jonothan Ross, he quoted the following from a recent survey...
Evidently peoples dreams consist mainly of the following (In order of most common down):
MEN
1. Sex with strangers
2. Fighting
3. Driving fast cars
4. Firing guns
LADIES
1. Eating with pals
2. Buying clothes
3. Childhood
4. Combining work with home life
How true do you think this is?
claire 19-03-2005, 09:17 AM Many of my dreams are set in South Africa, where I grew up...
jaycee 19-03-2005, 01:48 PM My dreams tend to be quite surreal & strange but I only remember them if I wake up in the middle of the night just having had one. Then in the morning, I don't remember the details, I just know I thought they were odd at the time

what pictures, Maz? have you been looking at the meeting thread!!
The other night i dreamt I was living with Will Smith - it's true! He was just perfect, I liked him, my son liked him and we lived in a big big house but only used one room. I was so sad when I woke up!
I have to say none of the choices in the poll struck a chord with me, but i can't usually remember my dreams anyway.
mazwad 20-03-2005, 08:39 AM I am sure when I last looked at this thread there were pictures of Tony Blair on here or was I really dreaming. Help me please am I going senile in me old age seeing things that aren't there or could it be that I never had my glasses on whilst flicking trough the threads.

mazwad 20-03-2005, 10:37 AM Thanks Queenie senility can wait then.
I used to have dreams about things happening to my kids when they were young I think when you are a mum you never quite turn off at night. The one I really remember was about a fire and which child I should get to first I used to wake up really upset.
When I recall my dreams, and that isnt often, its usually the one where you cant find a clean loo and you are bursting.......
very rarely I will dream about sex with a stranger, not any old stranger though, its ALWAYS someone famous....like Eminem or Johnny Depp :naughty: and once it was Noel Gallagher :)
Pandora 21-03-2005, 03:42 PM very rarely I will dream about sex with a stranger, not any old stranger though, its ALWAYS someone famous....like Eminem or Johnny Depp and once it was Noel Gallagher :) I havent had a dream where Ive had sex with a stranger (or rock star either lol), but I have had one where I was on a dance floor, slow dancing with Alain Delon (remember him)? I remember realising during the dream that I hadnt got a stitch on, and hoped that the dance floor was so crowded that no one would notice .... Alain Delon was also in "french actor prime" too, about 30 and gorgeous. Then I woke up... sighhhhhhhh.....
I had a dream once about Ronald Reagan pressing the big red button and telling me there was going to be a nuclear winter, and I told him I was very very worried, because I didnt have my cardigan with me.
survivorfan 21-03-2005, 09:31 PM Can I say first of all I don't think this belongs in the 'soapbox' section.
anyway - back to the subject, I rarely dream any of the four men's dreams Ross talks about and I do wonder how accurate his survey really is.
The only recurring themes I have are the anxiety ones, which I think are common, where I am just about to go into an exam and realise I haven't done any studying, or I'm on a stage, the curtain's about to go up and I haven't rehearsed my lines. Sometimes I am going to work but don't have my shoes on, and my feet are going to get hurt/wet in socks. I used to have crashing aeroplane dreams, where the plane was about to go down, or was flying along a street and the wings hit the buildings, or the plane was taking off and was going to hit overhead wires, but I haven't had the plane dream for about 5 years now.
All the other dreams I have I don't think I can categorise, they all seem different.
I can't really catorgorise my dreams, I don't think I have sex with strangers, and I don't dream about shopping. I tend to have way out dreams that obviously have meanings.
Like sf I think I have a lot of anxiety dreams, I had on the night before I got married that all my teeth had dropped out on my wedding morning! That sort of stuff.
I do have rude dreams, and have orgasms in them - but I honestly can't remember them - that is a nightmare!!!
I had a series of exhausting dreams the other night, nothing I could really put my finger on, but I do remember that a few of you were in them, but they were just rolling over in one long high speed, exhaustive series of rapid scenarios - I was kackered and very tearful when I woke up though.
claire 22-03-2005, 08:27 AM I used to regularly dream that I'd gone somewhere without my knickers on, and there was nothing I could do. Since I've been a bit older, they have gotten worse, I have often dreamt that I went out naked. Very humiliating dreams.
I always dream about people from my childhood, in South Africa, and my dreams are set there... I'm not complaining, its the nearest I've been to home in years! (Hugh Jass don't be cross with me... I didn't tell you the following ... ) last night, I dreamt that I kissed one of my old best friends boyfriends. I never found him attractive and still don't, and haven't thought about him for years, isn't that strange?
I've dreamt about catching my husband having affair, me playing detective and putting all these clues together (lol)
I had a "nightmare" dream Sunday night.......we are decorating Lewies bedroom, so I had been online on the dulux and crown websites "painting" a "virtual room" to decide what colours to use.....all night all I dreamt about was different paint colour schemes   im still no closer to deciding on a colour scheme!
Coastie 22-03-2005, 12:59 PM I often have dreams where I'm on the run...be it from the Police, Prison Camp, baddies whatever....they are always very, very exciting (never scarey) and I have been known to be joined on my race for freedom by George Clooney...oh and I once told Russell Crowe his jumper was hideous!
I have learned that dreams like these mean I am wanting more excitment and adventure in my life....that couldn't be more true...I am an adrenaline junkie so bring it on! :wink2:
I have a lot of teamwork and problem-solving dreams. I tend to remember the character and tone of my fellow problem solvers quite well, and often recall long and complicated discussions that I can apply to waking situations in some way.
I've also had several prophetic dreams in the last twelve years or so, containing symbolism that is usually revealed when I meditate on then.
I don't remember having any of those "typical man-type" dreams... racing cars and stuff... although I do return to my active days in the navy quite a lot while asleep.
