I found this little gem on another forum...
How many forum members does it take to change a lightbulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...
... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
3 standards zealots to point out that light bulbs have been deprecated in the LB 2.1 spec
1 to call upon everybody to ignore this deprecation
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
5 to post links to their sites selling lightbulbs and lighting accessories
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.......

Very good
I've seen this one before but had forgotten how funny it was...excellent and soooo true!
I agree. (Apart from the fifth one from the end.)
Fantastic! So who's going to relate all the forum members on here to that then?
Coastie 23-03-2005, 02:59 PM I actually don't think that Noxies theory about the 5th one from the end being wrong is correct....personally I think it would be better if we all focus on wether it is a lightbulb or light bulb....this is surely a far more important issue concerning the world today! :smartie:
Coastie, I can see you find this subject as fascinating as I do, so I've taken the opportunity of providing some links to sites that I know will interest you.
Light Bulb Superstore (http://www.bulbs.com/)
How light bulbs work (http://science.howstuffworks.com/light-bulb.htm)
Database of replacement light bulbs (http://ww.topbulb.com/)
Set up for the next forum type :D
Dolores 23-03-2005, 06:40 PM It actually makes me feel very normal and that I am after all on a normal forum board and there are lots more out there like us!
very very funny! trouble is due to my secretive forum habits I can't share it with anyone! d'oh!
Fee For All 23-03-2005, 06:45 PM Nox, thank-you for you're helpfull link to the lightbulb store. (The top one).
However I feel i should inform felow FM's of the dangers of buying lightbulds from oversees as they may be designed for differing levels of power and therefore be dangerouse in the uk.
Reading the liink also made me wonder why americans will refer to 'lite' but yet still talk about 'light'bulbs?
floopy 23-03-2005, 06:57 PM I see there's no mention of energy saving lightbulbs.
Any you people wonder why the world is in the state it is:ranting:
Andrea 23-03-2005, 08:34 PM Light bulbs, light bulbs  You've all gone maaaaad, I tell you. This forum is about Survivor, your all :offtopic:
:wink_kiss
Fee For All 23-03-2005, 08:52 PM I'm starting to find this all a bit stressful
Haydon, any chance we could have a lightbulb forum?
I'm going to move this to Feedback section, anyone mind?
:naughty:
floopy 24-03-2005, 08:43 AM I do actually, yes.
It's clearly a light-hearted thread, and so it belongs in Avin a Laugh (do you see what I did there?)
survivorfan 24-03-2005, 02:45 PM , Reading the liink also made me wonder why americans will refer to 'lite' but yet still talk about 'light'bulbs?
I think you'll find that if you pay more attention to your spelling (e.g. liink) and capitalisation (i.e. Americans) you will stand a better chance of being taken seriously.
Fee For All 24-03-2005, 03:08 PM  this victimisation is reelly reelly stressful and not very helpful to the serious topic of lightbulbs

Health and safety and light bulbs - 2005
Issued by The Department of Health
1) Under no circumstances should you change a lightbulb unless you are an accredited light bulb changer. You will need to successfully complete the three month course, which is self-funded at a cost of £1800 in order to gain the Light Bulb Changers Certificate of Competence.
2) Check your insurance policy before attempting to replace a light bulb. Some companies will not pay out if you slip and break a toenail.
3) You will require public liability insurance to the sum of 5 million pounds to cover all eventualities.
4) If a light bulb is outside your reach when standing on the floor, ensure
i you don't not attempt to change it alone
ii If you must stand on something make sure it's in firm contact with the floor and unlikely to tip over
5) Never change a light bulb unless you are wearing the correct protective clothing. Always wear safety glasses, a hard hat and a full rubber body suit... What? Apparently the full rubber body suit isn't necessary, but a long sleeved garment to cover the arms should help protect you from flying glass.
6) If you have a heart condition or a fear of heights, please seek advice from your GP before attempting to stand on any surface more than two inches above the ground.
Coastie 24-03-2005, 07:20 PM 2) Check your insurance policy before attempting to replace a light bulb. Some companies will not pay out if you slip and break a toenail.
Yes I fell shy of this one!
I thought I could win the case as it was an long energy saving light bulb...now what is the ruling concerning the wide variety of light bulbs we get these days?
Rothera 12-04-2005, 12:11 PM LOL g8 innit :D :D :D
Cockney 12-04-2005, 01:01 PM LOL g8 innit :D :D :D

Cheekychops 12-04-2005, 04:42 PM
Coastie 14-04-2005, 11:59 AM I went into my freinds loo the other day and the light bulb had blown.....I continued blindly on and successfully completed my mission of releiving my bladder, flushing and washing my hands.....
I look back now and think that in light of the legislation surrounding light bulbs and their proper usage and the legalitise of a failed light bulb I may have been foolish in my actions!
