Kooks do you mind terribly is I hijack your thread to ask a question??

I thought this an ideal place, cos people who like quizzes will no doubt look here and hopefully help me with my questions.

I am doing a quiz for my Mother in Law's tea club - as the answers are all 'pop' groups she has asked me to do it and I am stuck on two of them. [Note most of the previous 38 answers have been groups from the late 70's, but not exclusively!]

Anyway the first is an anagram:

CRIPIGLESS [5,5]

and the second question is:

Root Vegetables?

[an eg of one I did get was a band for a barrell maker? - answer Alice Cooper]

Can anyone help?

btw there are no prizes - just the kudos amongst the old ladies at who is the hippest and trendiest!!!

Ceridwen

The first one is the Spice Girls.

I'll get back to you on No 2.

Ceridwen
04-04-2005, 11:04 AM
Actually is the second one Abba - they are all Swedes?

Oh wow Ceri - thanks so much - it has been driving me mad. Are you sure about the second one? Only that one of the other answers was also Abba.

Mr F reckoned there was a group called 'Potato Head' - but I think he is just trying to make his Mum look daft - and I have never heard of the Potato Heads before!!

Ceridwen
04-04-2005, 11:12 AM
I have never heard of Potato Head, I favour the Abba concept myself...are you sure they were the right answer to the other question?

Unless you know a group called The Celeriacs?!!

Ceri - I am now questioning my first answer [Abba] see what you think?

The clue was 'don't grab banish it'.

Anyway I think Patsy and Ceri cheated the other night!!! :wink_kiss

Clare i thought this too! I don't know if it's becasue you don't have broadband, but the connection is slower so you don't see it as quick.
having said that, I did get one easy question before everyone else.
So actually I think it's just that everyone was quicker than you and me!
it was my first quizz, I'm sure practise makes perfect :smartie:
It also helps if you can spell

I've got broadband but I figured there must be some sort of "lag" on there because on my computer the answers were out almost instantaneously with the questions. Also my answer came before the person's who scored the points a couple of times but Quizmaster explained that the order we could see it wasn't necessarily the order they reached him.

I don't see how anyone can cheat because they are automated aren't they? or am I being niaive?

No you are not being naive Critique, it is impossible to cheat as it is an automated programme and as Quizmaster explained just because the answer comes up on your screen 1st doesn't mean it comes up on his screen 1st...

In fact last night - my answer came up on my screen 1st 6 times, yet obviously it didn't come up on Quizzies screen 1st - I really must learn to type quicker!

Did this used to be called Yatze! many moons ago???

Also to those who think Patsy and Ceri cheated....having sat next to Patsy and watched her play, it is very impressive...accuracy and lightening speed are essential and she has both, she was putting in the answer before I had finished reading the question.

floopy

Nope, Yahtzee was about 5 dice, and you had to get different poker hands with them - 2 of a kind, full house etc.

That was good too :w00t:
