Yes!! I heard this exclusive news on This Morning, this morning. James Whittaker reported it after speaking to Clarence House.

Seemingly if the Pope's Funeral takes place at 2pm on Friday then the wedding will be cancelled and Prince Charles will attend the funeral.

IMO, this is the only right thing to do, seems a bit of a shame, as this wedding seems to have been beset by disasters of one thing or another.

Even though I have no feelings either way regarding this marriage, I am beginning to feel sorry for them.

Some times before I straighten my hair and its all wooped out...I can see Camilla in my reflection, I find this a bit disconcerting.

No, it will have to happen this week. There is a rule that says that a Pope has to be buried within 6 days of their death, so it will definately be this week.

His funeral is to be held on Friday at 1000 (0800 GMT), the Vatican announced after cardinals met on Monday morning for the first time since his death. As per the Beeb

Oh dear - I was hoping (for purely selfish reasons) that the funeral wouldn't be on Friday.

We are going to Sicily on Friday for Mr M's birthday treat - I guess being such a religious island that theres going to be a very sombre mood there one Friday so I doublt very much that we'll be kicking our heels up as we'd planned!

Royal wedding postponed for Pope

The Prince of Wales's wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles has been postponed until Saturday due to a clash with the Pope's funeral.
Announcing the change, Clarence House said Prince Charles would be attending the funeral mass in Rome on Friday.

It had earlier said the Royal ceremony at Windsor's Guildhall and the church blessing would proceed regardless of when the Pope was buried.

Charles cut short his holiday to attend a London mass for the Pope on Monday.

As per the BBC News Website.....

It is terribly sad for all concerned, with the funeral and having to do this - I feel so sorry for them all.

PMSL @ chicken legs.....
As far as the Registry Office is concerned, Id say it was HIGHLY unlikely that it was free on a Saturday in April.
Ive no doubt we will be seeing, "Our Wedding Was Shoved Aside For Charles & Camilla", in the Daily Mirror in the next few days....

As Bon said earlier, this wedding really does seem doomed ! Everything that could go wrong, has gone wrong, its attracted some incredibly negative publicity and after Charles' petulant outburst the other day on the slopes of Klosters, I doubt he has done his popularity any good  .... what shocked me more than anything was the fact that Prince William was the most mature individual there !

They interviewed a guy whose wedding is due to take place on Saturday, on one of the day time shows (well only via telephone) and he said "no way" would he postpone his wedding and apparently there are 3 couples that day so it looks like they will be queuing up with Joe Public - oh it is just getting funnier and funnier by the day.

What about all the commemorative stuff they must have printed with the 8th on it - mugs, tea-towels and all that other rubbish. Perhaps we should go and buy something tacky cos it might be worth something in the future - lol.

I really don't know whether to just laugh or feel sorry for them. Can you imagine Charles and Camilla sitting outside (along with all the dignitaries)waiting for some ordinary guy and his new "Misses" to vacate the registry office so that he and cammy can take their turn. It's getting like a Monty Python sketch

Personally Im laughing. You reap what you sow. Both of them committed adultery, he ruined the life of an already emotionally fragile woman by marrying her when he knew he didnt love her and fully intended to carry on his relationship with another woman, and Camilla not only betrayed her own family but even tried to forge a friendship with Diana, while it was all going on behind her back.
Coupled with the fact that he is a selfish, petulant, whining, bad tempered ass - I think that if its all going t*ts up, then its tough.

I think it's brilliant - been listening to it all on the radio driving home. Strong feeling given that it may be more to do with saving face as the funeral is proving to be the more popular gig and there were concerns about too many guests crying off.

Dead Pope vs He Who Might (never) Be King...I bet Debrett's has been busy!

Chas and Cam are both off to the funeral on Friday, so joint stag and hen parties in Rome afterwards perhaps...that should be cheery.

My first thought when it was announced that the Pope's funeral will be on Friday was the Queen would have to choose whether she went to the funeral or the wedding!

That bit's irrelevant now, but I haven't heard that the Queen is going to the funeral, only that Charles is going as her representative. Is that correct? I know she's the head of the Church of England but I would have thought as the sovereign she would attend. And wasn't the Pope a guest of the Queen's when he came to England?

I heard from one of the Royal reporters on the tv today that the Queen doesn't do funerals - only family ones. All other important funerals - a representative goes, generally Prince Charles. I suppose they know the score - and having said that I can't remember the Queen ever going to an important funeral?

Yes he was.

I don't mean this to sound funny in any way, but when I saw the Pope's body being carried out, all I kept being drawn to where is feet. I hate seeing the soles of peoples shoes and then I thought isn't it bad luck or insulting in some countries to show the soles of your feet?

I was also drawn to his feet Bob - and isn't there an advert [is it HSBC] that indicates the soles of feet are disrespectful?? I dunno?

We're off topic now! Supposed to be talking of Camilla and Charles, but God yes it was so sad to see his body like that
I remember when he came to York, what a fantastic occasion, beautiful day and the Pope looking so magnificent [can't think of any other way to describe him]
Funny thing about that day that I remember was that it was a scorching hot day; everyone had been queuing for hours and were so thirsty. A can of coke from one of the stalls cost me 40p- in 1982! I remember being horrified, the pope might have been there that day to say mass to us all, but there were still those there to make a killing.

The Queen did attend Winston Churchills funeral:

1965: Last farewell to Churchill
Thousands of people have paid their last respects to Britain's greatest wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill who was buried today after a full state funeral.
Silent crowds lined the streets to watch the gun carriage bearing Sir Winston's coffin leave Westminster Hall as Big Ben struck 0945. The procession travelled slowly through central London to St Paul's cathedral for the funeral service.

Sir Winston died six days ago, following a stroke earlier in the month from which he never regained consciousness.

A total of 321,360 people filed past the catafalque during the three days of lying-in-state.

World watches funeral

Today, millions around the world watched the funeral procession at home and abroad as television pictures were beamed from 40 BBC cameras placed along the route.

The mourners were led by Sir Winston's wife, Lady Clementine Churchill, his son Randolph and daughters Mary Soames and Lady Sarah Audley. The Queen and other members of the royal family, the Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, and representatives of 112 countries packed into the cathedral for the service.

I so agree, I wouldn't be one of them for anything. Imagine having every move you make scrutinised, assessed, picked over and then printed totally out of context in some naff tabloid. It has got to hurt.

I have met several of the Royals, and it may shock to know that the one I least liked was the Queen Mother - she was so cold and icy, kept people waiting for ages for her to deem to appear and then just cut you dead. Not a nice lady as the press would have you think.

The best I have found was Charles, he's very clued up (done his homework), treats people with respect and has a wicked SOH. Of all the Royals, he's the one who knows the people best and what counts in this world. He may be King-in-Waiting, but he works dammed hard instead of sitting on his ass like others would probably do.

Hm - I agree about the QM, I think she treated Diana very badly, i.e. could have helped her/given her guidance as a young girl from outside as it were but she didnt despite having been herself in that position years ago. I think the sweet old dear she was portrayed as was nothing like her real persona.

Applaud all round Dol!! I am sick of this constant let's put Diana on pedalstal lark! She wasn't all good either. In fact I was no fan of hers, I admired the things that she done for charity but Charlie works just as hard as she done.

Charles was born to be King, he can't help his status - Diana however chose to be the King's wife, chose to give birth to the heir to the throne! She annoyed me when she went on those exoctic trips and she would sit there in a sulk. She dressed in the most stunning outfits, went to the most beautiful places in the world but she couldn't even manage to raise a smile.

I appreciate that she was a tormented soul and I think the real problems within the marriage started after she gave birth to Prince William. She suffered from PND and Charles couldn't cope with it - ditto hundreds/thousands of couples in the UK. I know my husband struggled to come to terms that I had it. Charles turned to Camilla and their old feelings were re-kindled. I am certain that Charles did love and care for Diana before then, but he could not cope with her PND and they were not alone in that struggle. I appreciate how Diana must have felt as there was really no-one to turn to, but when I had PND I struggled with myself as you just don't want to admit you have it.

So Charles embarked on his affair with Camilla as he realised that she was so much more on his wave-length than Diana was. He made a mistake, he should have been there for Diana but he wasn't. It does not mean that he has to spend the rest of life paying for it. Diana herself (and I don't wish to speak ill of the dead) embarked on an affair with Will Carling whilst he was still married to his wife, so a bit of pot, kettle, black going on there.

Yes, Charles maybe a stuffy, pompous eejit but none of us have met him or spoke to him and by all accounts he is supposed to be very charming. He loves his sons and they love him back. Camilla also works hard on charities but no people don't want to recognise that it, she "stole" Charles from Diana. She is not all bad and I am sick of the horse comments made about it, it is really quite nasty.

Charles& Camilla are not the first couple to have an affair and I sure they never intended to have one, it just happened as it happens in lots of marriages, doesn't make them bad people. My brother in law had an affair, totally devestated his family but I would never wish ill on him or wish that he never found happiness. Yes, adultery is a sin but I do think that it is one, through time that should be forgiven. Yes, marriage is sacred but sometimes we fall out of love. I do think that Charles did everything he could to save his marriage but I don't think that Diana was the easiest of people to be with. We all hear that Charles done wrong, but we don't know what kind of person Diana really was within the marriage, she could have been a complete nightmare and caused Charles to seek love elsewhere. I am sure we all know difficult women and ask ourselves why on earth does the husband put up with her..................

 Rant over........................:)

Edited to say: Sorry Censor, I have just seen that you have in fact met Prnce Charles, and I know a couple of people who have met him and have said the same. I agree with you about the Queen Mother, (again no wish to speak ill of the dead) but she a very bitter, twisted lady and never forgave Wallis Simpson. What a tragic way to go through life and never be able to forgive............

Personally I couldn't give a hoot about any of this. But Bella, you are forgetting that Charles and Camilla were in love long before he married Diana. So I think that people don't get upset so much about the adultery issue, but about the fact that he was in love with another woman when he married Diana. They feel that she was young, and taken advantage of.

But then we really don't know what was up Diana's sleeve also did we.

Like I said, I really don't give a hoot about all of this, and the fact is, we will never really ever know what went on behind closed doors.

Tigger, I know that we will never know and even what I have said, is pure speculation. Although I do think it has been pointed out several times, that the marriage did start to fall apart after the birth of William.

Yes, Charles was in love with Camilla before he married Diana, I don't know if he was still in love with her when he married Diana or if it was rekindled when he went to her when he had the marital problems, but really it is none of our business. There are lots of people who marry the wrong person and regret it later.

I agree that Diana was young and taken advantage of, both by the Royal Family and her own family. She was like a lamb to the slaughter but she could have walked away from it, many of Charles's other girlfriends did, granted she was the only one he got engaged to, but she had the choice.

Let's be honest Diana wasn't going to be going anywhere fast - she was a nursery nurse with very little qualifications, maybe she saw this as her opportunity, I don't know but I do think that she was not as naive as she was made out to be!

Dab, on This Morning a couple of days ago, it was noted that there were 3 other weddings on that day. I think Flip mentioned that they spoke to one of them and he said under no circumstances would they reschedule their wedding.

As much I think Charles & Camilla should marry I don't agree that other parties should have their day disrupted because of it. They will have receptions, cars etc booked. If it is the case, and if the parties are willing to reschedulte (I am sure they would have to have had to agree to it first) and that they will be fully compensated for any inconvenience and as long as it is not us, the taxpayers who have to pay for it, then good luck to them. However I can't help thinking they could have just as easily booked the Guild Hall on the next available date.

I too am sick of the way Camilla is assumed to be ugly inside just because she isn't young and pretty on the outside. I actually think she is probably a very nice loving woman who is happy to keep low profile, but must be hurting terribly at all that is being said about her.

They are not a young couple, neither of them are stunningly beautiful on the outside, but I bet they are on the inside, and they bleed and hurt just as you and I do.

I would have assumed the opposite to be true. With the wedding being rescheduled just days before the event, I would have thought there were far more souvenirs in circulation with the incorrect date than the correct date! I'd imagined the ones with the correct date are going to be more valuable in the future.

Exactly Maria - it's like the old fairytales - the stepsisters are ugly and wicked so is the stepmother, but the princess is beautiful and kind! I couldn't bear to read my son fairytales when he was younger, they mostly make me want to vomit!

I always think the difference between Camilla and Diana is that Camilla is way way more sexy than Diana who always struck me as being a frigid cold fish .... but then of course I can't know this for sure .... but sometimes you gotta give us old birds a break!!!

I am not sticking up for Camilla but I get fed up with the way everyone calls her ugly, a dog or a horse. She is a 50 something woman for goodness sake, she was attractive enough in her youth. What does everyone else look like at that age - not very nice either I am sure. I think its spiteful.

Apparently the souvenirs are now flying out of the shops much to the relief of retailers who had been worried by the earlier lack of interest. Ebay is doing a brisk trade now too as a result - the news last night gae the example of bookmarks jumping from £1 to £60 since the postponement.

Re Camilla - I have no time for any of them, but I do agree with this - if they were both younger and she more 'Diana-like', I have no doubt the press would be calling it the fairy tale happy ending of all time :glare:

But again, it just shows how ill-advised the royals are - why didn't they just get quietly married and announce it afterwards? I reckon they'd have got more respect (would've from me anyway...)

Living in a navy town I sometimes meet people who served with Charles in the navy and one comment that they often seem to make is that he was a "man's man" I think he should take that as a compliment.

I heard similar comments, Dol, but he was a carefree young man then. All the evidence seems to point to him being pretty grumpy and self-pitying these days.

 Good job we have all those pleasant and contented 50-ish women to keep us happy, then!

Whats the story in Balamory....

For those that were worried, worry no more, it has been confirmed that the wedding between Roddy McCloud and Katy Morrison from Balamory WILL still be going ahead this Friday.
