Well I have been celebrating tonight! (many Stellas) :)

Just got my new baby, bought from an auction in Lancashire for £250, the sweetest boy too, he is definately a lover not a fighter!
He is 3 years old, I have called him Silver's Image (after Silver and a racehorse from way back of that same name) but his pet name will be Jimi.
He is virtually unbroken but has the most loving temperament, gawd knows how he ended up at an auction. It was love at first sight. :)
He will never replace Silver, but he will be loved to bits...I think he is quite a hippy kind of guy!
Here he is all cleaned up and in the pasture stable. He has the most beautifull eyes, they make me melt :)

More pics soon.
A very happy M

Thanks Fee!

I'm so excited I can't sleep!....just want morning to come so I can go out and see how he is settling in (and give him lots of cuddles).
When we got him home he just stared at everything with huge wide eyes as if he had just landed from another planet. He was very disorientated but he cant have been badly treat in the past because he is so trusting and affectionate.
Wish I knew more of his background, I can't understand how his coat is so short this time of year, its a mystery (and he is feeling the cold!) no luxury here tho, home is just a converted railway carriage! I've put two rugs on him so I hope he is cosy.
Tomorrow he will meet my friends' horse who he will share his field with...I do hope they get on!

It's so good having a horse again, and I think Jimi is going to be very special.

He is bloomin gorgious Marmy. Those eyes!!! Then I melt at all horses...I run by one on my regular run and if he's at the fence poking his head over I always stop and pat his nose and say hello...don't care how many people are about.

Horses really are the most special, majestic creatures.

Lucky you, and lucky Jimi for coming to you.

PS We had a friend who when their beloved dog died - Bullett- the next one he called he called - Spirit of Bullett, spirit for short. I always liked this.

:heart:What an absolute stunner Jimi is, Marmy, he is an absolute beauty. Wow those eyes and that fringe, cor if he was a filly she would be supermodel status I reckon. But being a gelding [or is he a stallion?] he is most definitely Lipenzaner material - lucky you!!

 - that is for Jimi from me.

Fantastic picture, Marmy and a beautiful horse. Not a conoissuer by any stretch, but like Cat says horses are majestic creatures and he is a fine example.

Enjoy your bonding, it's going to be very special for you both.

He's absolutely beautiful Marmy and I hope he gives you as much pleasure as Silver did.

You said he was hardly broken, is he rideable?

When you buy a horse from auction, don't you get any background information - it seems rather sad if you don't.

Aw he is gorgeous marmy!
Love his long hair! How was his first night?

Well Jimi is settling in fine up to now :)

All the background I have is what it said in the catalogue, his age, height, etc.
he was sold as being 'the property of a gentleman', as a lot of 'em are.
He seem to have been well handled tho as he is such a sweetie-pie. I havent tried him in a bridle yet so there may be fun and games ahead! just letting him get used to us and his new home for now.
I'm not cutting his hair, I think it gives him a rogueish charm! lol.
We spent most of today in the field larking about. He really loved being out.

Aw thanks Flip! You know, I really shouldn't have bought him, I'm not getting much work in at the mo and yesterday our washer/dryer packed up in spectacular fashion :) But I do believe that Karma works in mysterious ways and he was just meant for me!

I can't believe how lucky I am either, I keep coming over all emotional :) I think Mr M thought that once Silver was no longer with us that I would stick to cats! he is not best pleased with me at the mo... lol.

Jimi Hendrix, now there's a thought, he certainly has the wild hair!
One more pic, just for you.

He looks cool Marmy.

So sorry about Silver.
You and me both believe in Karma don't we.
Jimi comes at the right time to the right person - you or he had no say in it.:wink2:
I like the Jimi Hendrix association.
Check this out:

Well I realize that I’ve been hypnotized,
I love your gypsy eyes
I love your gypsy eyes
Alright!

Hey!
Gypsy.

Way up in my tree I’m sitting by my fire
Wond’rin’ where in this world might you be
And knowin’ all the time you’re still roamin’ in the country side
Do you still think about me?
Oh my gypsy.

Well I walked right on to your rebel roadside
The one that rambles on for a million miles
Yes I walk down this road searchin’ for your love and ah my soul too
But when I find ya I ain’t gonna let go.

I remember the first time I saw you
The tears in your eyes look like they’re tryin’ to say
Oh little boy you know I could love you
But first I must make my get away
Two strange men fightin’ to the death over me today
I’ll try to meet cha by the old highway.
Hey!

Well I realize that I’ve been hypnotized, I love your gypsy eyes
I love your gypsy eyes
I love your gypsy eyes
I love your gypsy eyes
Alright!

So Jimmi Gypsy for me.:)

Hey Secrets

Karma it most definately was..I had just gone to the sale with my friend who was on the lookout for a pony for her daughter and some tack. I had no money on me and my friend wont go to an auction alone (they can be pretty soul destroying places).
Jimi looked into me, not at me, and I really thought he would go for a high price....luckily he didnt and my friend had the cash on her as no ponies were suitable. The eyes definately had it!

Makes me wonder how he ended up at an auction at all, he is so affectionate and loving, oh well, i suppose the best horses are found there!
I think Silver would approve :)

He's got that classic 'Roman nose' - very elegant Marmy. Would he have been clipped if he'd been kept in stables instead of out to grass?

When I used to ride, I rode a horse called Silver - he was the pits. He was extremely bad tempered (think constant ears flat against head), had to be held back way behind the others because he was forever nipping the bum of the horse in front of him, and whenever we broke into a canter he'd take off like a rocket and if he had half the chance, insist on leading the pack. But for all his faults, he was beautiful, tall and elegant, not like some of the shaggy toed pit ponies who only moved out of static if and when they wanted too and with a great deal of kicking from the rider. He was a proper 'horse' and because I felt good on him, I think he must have picked up on it, because he responded reasonably well to me.

I hope Jimi won't be like him lol.

Hi Nox

Yes I think he has been kept in for a while, he certainly is feeling the cold!

Oh your Silver sounds like mine, when Silver was at a riding school he was a right meanie, in fact I called him Scowler! its was 100mph or nothing with him, he had to be at the front and he hated people. He just hated being there I guess.

Luckily when we rescued him he returned to being a sweetie, although he wasnt too keen on most people...or horses for that matter!

I wonder if the Silvers we are talking about could be the same one!?
