View Full Version : Hell's Kitchen II
Haydon 09-04-2005, 02:30 PM The ITV show is returning on April 18 for a second series with celebrity chefs Jean-Christophe Novelli and Gary Rhodes in place of Gordon Ramsay.
Nicole Appleton will host the ITV2 coverage, Hell's Kitchen Extra Portions, alongside Mark Durden-Smith.
Besides interviewing the stars, she will also deliver her verdict on the best-dressed diners each night.
Angus Deayton will present the main ITV1 show in which the celebrity trainees have been ditched in favour of members of the public who fancy themselves as master chefs.

Not much point watching then really - I cant STAND the Appletons!
Pandora 09-04-2005, 05:05 PM All good stuff except Nicole Appleton who is bad stuff. Yeah I agree..... still, John Christophe will make up for having to watch the insufferable bigheaded Nicole....
I shall watch this...but I just don;t think it will work without Gordon Ramsey in there.......
I could be wrong...I was once.......it was about 1976 I think.....
Yeah I agree..... still, John Christophe will make up for having to watch the insufferable bigheaded Nicole....
Which one is John Christophe...is he the one who wears a bandanna..bit chubby but very servicable. Or the french one with a lisp?
tonee 09-04-2005, 05:20 PM I read that Gary Rhodes had walked out of this show.
I realise that it is Nicole and not Natalie Appleton (the penny slowly drops)

Doesn't matter.........
It's NOT gordon

Ils...its the masterfullness and the hand usage. Also I like to see stains.
Patsy 09-04-2005, 05:34 PM Will probably watch it, but can't stand the Appletons or Mark D-Smith. Looks too much like his mother for my liking. These follow-ups usually looking rubbish at first, but gather speed.

The Censor 09-04-2005, 07:25 PM They have just got to have another like Gordon in there, I loved the feeling of being totally shocked by his language! :angel_not
I read that Gary Rhodes had walked out of this show.
that is the best part of this new show!!
Always wondered how Gary Rhodes found the time to cook and play the violin.
Me too cat! :D
I enjoyed the original Hell's Kitchen, but this was mainly due to Gordon being larger than life. It won't be the same without him - quieter, less swearing, more teamwork, more cooking, less complaining, less arguing - the list goes on.
What's Nicole Appleton like? I hope she isn't as tearful as her sister otherwise the customers will be complaining about too much salt in their soup.
Pandora 09-04-2005, 10:42 PM Always wondered how Gary Rhodes found the time to cook and play the violin. pmsl
I agree, though, Gary Rhodes walking out is great news. Get Anthony Wozza Thompson in there (Peter Andres Dad), he's a right grumpy ol git and swears like trooper

Oh yes I like Wozza...loved him on IACGMOOH.
I'm glad Angus is hosting again, I thought he was really funny.
I shall have to see if I can get a table this time......Buzz you up for a night out?
Dolores 10-04-2005, 02:38 PM I shall never forget Vic Reeves asking for two fried eggs on the last show - it was the funniest thing I'd seen in a long time - mainly cos my dad ALWAYS seems to ask for a fried egg when we go out and ALWAYS gets refused!!
I'm glad Gary Rhodes isn't doing it - he's weird and charmless.
I would like to see AWT doing it, with Gordon coming in as a dinner guest (I think there is a bit of rivalry between these two ladies)

I quite enjoyed the bit where Vic Reeves, obviously as drunk as a skunk, got his ass well and truly verbally kicked by Gordon, for asking for the fried egg. The untalented, aggressive when drunk, tw*thead went really pale and that stupid grin faded off his face sooooooo fast .....

Does anyone know who the contestants are yet?
As of yesterday's papers Gary Rhodes was still being advertised as a host - whats the update on this too?
I think the contestants are all Joe and Jenny Public, Cat. And as far as Good Morning were concerned this week, Gary Rhodes was never out of it.
Does anyone know if the lovely, ever so put upon Jon Phillipe is making a come back?
Don't care ....just been looking at the lovely face that is John Christophe
PHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR

Cat, I just edited your phooooarrrr comment a little. I made it a bit smaller as it was rocketing off the page and making my pooter go funny.
I agree with the phoooarrreyness of the lovely Jean Christophe. Thank god we have him to lust over. Gary Rhodes is hideous and so up his own ****, its untrue.:mad2:

To be honest, I lost interest in it after about 10 minutes, so I have no idea!
Coastie 18-04-2005, 09:35 PM To be honest, I lost interest in it after about 10 minutes, so I have no idea!
Oh dear..that good then eh....
Is it a case of, bring back Gordon Ramsey
Not quite sure where the last 30 mins start Coastie, but the Blues completed nearly all their servings successfully and JC mingled with the customers in the restaurant.
Meanwhile Rhodes blows a gasket and refuses to serve any more food from the red kitchen because he feels it's sub-standard.
Back in the living quarters it's revealed that Aaron fancies the single mother (is it Sam?). Simon - otherwise known as Marco from Big Brother - tells Aaron that he's convinced from her body language that she likes him.
Back to the kitchens and the marks for the evening are revealed. The red team manage to serve 8 meals leaving 26 people to find the nearest takeaway. The blues serve thirty of fortyish and win with 5 points out of ten, compared to the reds two and a half.
The teams line up for the elimination. Angus makes some witty remarks then Gary chooses Simon-Marco and JC chooses Henry.
That's all I can remember Coastie.
I flicked over onto this but there were no z list celebs throwing tantrums
Whats the point?
We only watch to laugh at them.
I don't think I'll bother
Dolores 18-04-2005, 10:13 PM As someone who is not unafraid or unused to using Anglo Saxon language I must say I was quite appalled by the amounts of F's, S's and B's from everyone.
How can they expect people to eat their food when the keep saying sh*t, it's very offputting. I think that Gordon Ramsey set a very unpleasant trend for tv chef's when he seemd to get kudos for having the most F's in a programme. It's completely unecessary most of the time.
It aint f***ing big and it aint f***ing clever and it aint f***ing funny.
....and could Aby be any more sickenly adoring of the french bloke (dunno his name, can't be bothered looking it up). She reminded me of Matt Lucas's character in Little Britain. "Oooooh 'e's gorgeous!!" She's embarrassing me!
I don't think this is gonna take up 15 nights of my life going on tonight's viewing. ... thank god for that!
Coastie 19-04-2005, 02:37 AM So I take it then.....
The chefs are trying to shock like Gordon and no-one has heard of any of the supposed celebrities....in fact are there any this time!
Sounds compulsive viewing.......not! :bored:
Well I for one really enjoyed it.
And the biggest shocker for me was Mr Rhodes...he was so nasty and masterfull...I am in true lust. I would love to be tied to a cooker and whipped into submission by him.."Yes Chef, anything you say Chef"
Mr Christophe (to nice) seemed to dwindle in appeal as Mr Rhodes grew.
No thoughts on the contestants yet, will be watching tonight.
It was the first day, you all always moan about how rubbish the first few shows are of each reality show then you all become addicted.
Moaning Minneys.
Bella 19-04-2005, 07:02 AM What an utter prat Gary Rhodes is! I never liked him much anyway, but all this, Yes Chef, No Chef is a bit too much for my palette, I am afraid! He is so trying to be like Gordon Ramsay but there is only one of him! JC is very lovely but I have heard that he is a MCP and has stated that women can't cook! And yeah that Aby one, OMG someone stick her in a cold shower! Lost interest by 9.45, so don't know what happened after that. I'll watch it if nothing else is on but I won't tonight as there is a certain other programme on BBC that holds my interest a lot more that seeing Mr Rhodes getting himself in a bit of a fangle! And have to say Angus Deayton is another turn-off and I am disappointed that Jean-Phillipe isn't there.
Dolores 19-04-2005, 07:04 AM And the biggest shocker for me was Mr Rhodes...he was so nasty and masterfull...I am in true lust. I would love to be tied to a cooker and whipped into submission by him.."Yes Chef, anything you say Chef"
for goodness sake woman! calm down, it's only a commercial!
I thought Gary looked ill - very thin and guant - but I have to say on the whole a lot less annoying and "trendy" than his previous tv chef persona - much more real.
Bonsai 19-04-2005, 09:52 AM I enjoyed the show last night. I too thought Gary Rhodes was trying to be Gordon Ramsey .... but i still found him likeable. And i agree with him about not sending sub standard food out of the kitchen. His side of the restaurant is called 'Rhodes' so why should he put his name to some burnt offerings ?
I like the French geezer too, and could imagine myself welded to his ample lips
All in all, i think it was a good start. I will be watching again tonight, but i dont think it will wholeheartedly grip me. If there was something better on the other side, i would watch the other side
Mrs Dab and I just watched the tape of last night's programme. (She's a chef, btw, although she escaped from the world of commercial kitchens a while ago and is quite sane now.)
She says that the environment and atmosphere is quite authentic, and that the language and verbal abuse is actually being toned down, if anything. She said, just imagine 200 people sitting down every lunchtime, for example, and every one of them has to be fed top quality dishes every single time, no matter what practical or personal problems are going on in the kitchen. It just has to happen, time after time after time, with no excuses accepted and no dead wood carried. Balls-ups are dealt with immediately and savagely. Bullying is common.
Gary's insistence on being called Chef is absolutely in order - that's what everyone calls everyone above them. Discipline is essential and there's no time for cuddly, fluffy stuff. That's just how it is, she says, and in that respect Hell's Kitchen is tame in comparison.
She reckons that even though the Red Team's first night was a nightmare, Rhodes's approach to training novices is more likely to produce an efficient team in a short time than Christophe's - other things being equal. But then Rhodes threw his toys out of the cot. Yeah, right. Okay, prima donna, what's your next trick?
As far as the contestants are concerned, I'm most impressed with the single mum (haven't caught onto her name yet) and least impressed with Simon.
I didn't watch this last night because Casnova was on the other side, and I really canoot be bothered to work out how to video it.
But can someone tell me are the teams celebs or just ordinary people?
And why is Gary Rhodes back - I thought he walked off the programme?
And Gary Rhodes is a lot lot older than he looks - he is a male mutton dressed up as a spring lamb. YUK!!
And I would agree with Dab about commercial kitchens, although my experience was on a far far tinier scale than Mrs Dab. It does get hot hot hot in there and things just HAVE to be right.
Bonsai 19-04-2005, 10:25 AM But can someone tell me are the teams celebs or just ordinary people?.
They are just ordinary people Flip, like labourers, full time mum, pub chef etc .... Some can cook basics, and some cant seem to cook at all.
oooo thank you bonnie - I will watch the next one, I am assuming that it is on tonight??
Bonsai 19-04-2005, 10:33 AM oooo thank you bonnie - I will watch the next one, I am assuming that it is on tonight??
Yeah its on 9-10pm this evening. I think its on every night.
Tonight at 9, Flip. Problem is, it clashes with Hustle.
The Censor 19-04-2005, 11:33 AM Dab, I so know how right you are! My daughter worked part time in a kitchen while continueing her studies, and one night she was unwell, so I said, OK, I'll go do it for you.
What an eye-opener that was! I staggered home after 6 hours, feet bleeding, brain bleeding, and ears so abused it took me weeks to get the 'F's' out of them! Never again, in fact I stopped her going and told her to look for something easier!
Did none of you ever watch the series CHEF with Lenny Henry? Many reckoned he was a pussy cat in that compared to what really happens - I think so too!
Minklemar 19-04-2005, 11:56 AM I quite enjoyed HK last night
Here's my thoughts on the would-be chefs that I can remember:
Jc's Kitchen:
JC - Lovely to look at, but I wish he wouldn't say the 'f' word so much - it ruins his lovely voice.
Aby (blonde one) - what a pain! She's drooling over JC. This one is going to get on my nerves
Henry - I felt sorry for him. On thew ITV2 show (yes, I'm that sad) he was alone in the flat crying while the rest of his team and JC sat out the back of the restuarant talking about him. Also after service him and drealock man seemed to be the only two clearing up while the others celebrity spotted and chatted.
Kathy (well, her name is probably not Kathy, but she reminds me of Kathy Burke) - seems ok so far, although she doesn't seem to stop talking
Dreadlock-man - ok so far, but wouldn't want to eat his food as his sweat plopped in the food.
Builder-man - He told JC that when he gets agitated they can't understand him and that throwing plates in the kitchen is dangerous! He was the only one who stuck up for Henry when JC was moaning about him.
Gary's Kitchen:
Gary - ok so far. Some of his team were moaning that he wasn't getting to know then and spending time chatting with them like JC is - but that's not really what they're there for is it?
Chartiy-lady - Seems nice enough, but not seen enough of her so far
Steve - (the one that is up for the vote - not sure I've got the name right). From what I've seen he's working hard but Gary seems to have taken a dislike to him.
Aaron - Got annoyed at being shouted at by Gary, I don't think he'll take the pressure.
Sam (? the single mum) - Nice so far
Geordie-man - I doesn't like the other two men in his team - I can see some arguments as the pressure builds
Andrea 19-04-2005, 12:38 PM I quite enjoyed this last night. I actually think it's better with ordinary folk than jumped up "Z" list celebrities.
Gary Rhodes is definately trying to be like Ramsey, but it's fun to see the way the different chefs work.
As for the two up for eviction tonight, I think it will probably be Henry from the blue team who will go. We haven't really seen as much of him as the guy from the red kitchen who seemt to be edited in the show quite alot last night.
I will be watching again tonight, but if there is something else better on the other side, such as 24, I will have to miss it.
Cockney 19-04-2005, 01:32 PM Gary Rhodes.... what a prat noth said

Coastie 19-04-2005, 02:54 PM Watched it this morning and it def looks like the blue kitchen is going to be the most fun...what is Jean on...woo woo...and Aby needs putting to sleep...now!
Gary Rhodes is doing a poor imitation of Gordon Ramsay, but at least I could understand what he said between the f words. I feel sorry for the Geordie guy who couldn't understand a word of what JC was saying. Even watching it on the telly, I had to concentrate to catch what JC said. It must be much harder in a noisy busy kitchen.
Groucho 19-04-2005, 04:48 PM Is it my imagination, or has Gary Rhodes had elocution lessons to make himself sound like a complete prick these days? :glare:

Have to agree with this he is trying to be like Gordon but it doesn't suit him and it shows. I did enjoy watching it though and will probably see it through to the bitter end although it does clash with other things like The Apprentice. I think the video will get a bit overworked this week it's just finding the time then to watch it all.
Well I like Mr Rhodes and I am going to support him through.

Well what a show! I thought that was great...poor Henry, it is a "catastrophe" that he has gone; he was hilarious.
And Jonny boy loosing his temper...ooo la la, I'm enjoying watching both these bad boys now.
Kelly (aka Kathy Burke) is my early tip for the top.
Why are the phone numbers only shown up for a nannoo second, I want to win a dinner there.
Dolores 19-04-2005, 09:24 PM I only saw the last half hour of the programme - but a lot of it seemed very samey compared to last nights. They didn't even have two new people up for nomination - does that happen tomorrow night? Will viewers still be watching by then?
When I saw the french bloke throwing the plates and glasses all I thought was surely some of that could go in the food that was already prepared and that would be wasted too!
I appreciate what Dab and Maz are saying about the pressure in the kitchen but it's the prima donna behaviour that galls me. The language I don't mind, the shouting is OK, but all this prima donna behaviour is a right turn off for me - Gary and Jon are both tw@s!
Andrea 19-04-2005, 09:25 PM I enjoyed tonights program too.
Poor "Enri", he just didn't get it right did he.
I agree with you Cat, Kelly seems to be the front runner at the moment.
And as for winning tickets for the show, Cat, have a look on the website, I'm sure the phone numbers should be on there somewhere.

Shut it Dolly Doo Doo's!
And I don't think thats the last we will see of "Enry", the lad is awesome
Pandora 19-04-2005, 10:28 PM All the chef prima donna stuff looks so contrived to me. Gary Rhodes is as up his own ass as he ever was but now looks 500 years old.
Jean Christophe is still a babe
and
kick Aby's butt out, she is so aggravating !
When I saw the french bloke throwing the plates and glasses all I thought was surely some of that could go in the food that was already prepared and that would be wasted too!
I was more concerned about Enri being wasted! There was a lot of heavy metal cutlery flying around, if one of the pieces was a knife and it landed in Enri's head, there'd be a lot of explaining to do.
I wanted Simon-Marco to go - he gets on my nerves.
Dolores 20-04-2005, 12:29 AM I wanted Simon-Marco to go - he gets on my nerves.
OMG! OMG! OMG! Dolores runs round and round in circles screeching OMG! OMG!
Yes he is isn't he Nox! Marco Mark II - I'd hoped and prayed that such a thing didn't exist, but here we have poof .... I mean proof!
Normal1 20-04-2005, 05:52 PM I've only dipped in and out of this because like so many follow-ups it always seems to be a poor imitation of the original.
It's like attending a full blown three day orgy, with your every whim catered for, and then the following week having to sit alone in your sad bedsit with a dog-eared copy of Fiesta, a rubber glove, and a box of tissues. Ahhh the memories........anyway, on to the show: I just cannot come to terms with Gary Rhodes trying to act tough! All that "You call me Chef..." cobblers, the curled lip, the snarls, the cold stares. It's like Noddy starring as The Terminator.
I think secretly our Gazza is a big softy who would be much happier serving denture-clacking, cotton-topped old biddies their mashed-up sunday lunches in some seaside rest home.
And the French bloke? Sorry, but every time I hear him talk I keep expecting him to say: "Leesten vu-rey carefully I will say zis only wunce" And the F-word just doesn't sound right when said with a french accent!
It comes out like "Hey, you Fur King, don't serve zis sheet again eh?" Who are these Kings of Fur he keeps talking about??
Oh, how I long for Gordon to get in there and teach them how to swear properly!
The contestants haven't really registered much with me yet...apart from the bald one who seems to be a cross between Yul Brynner, Danny La Rue and Lilly Savage, and has more mince than a Fray Bentos pie.
And the posh sounding middle aged woman who went all gooey in front of Gary Rhodes on the first night and didn't know when to shut up. She thinks she's down the village hall flogging apple pies for the WI. Bless.
I may give it another go tonight, if I have the stomach for it, but on the other hand I may just watch my skiddy old undies go around and around and around....in the washing machine instead....
Pandora 20-04-2005, 06:15 PM I think secretly our Gazza is a big softy who would be much happier serving denture-clacking, cotton-topped old biddies their mashed-up sunday lunches in some seaside rest home.
.... Well to be honest Gazza comes across as a denture clacking, balding old biddy himself !! Well he certainly looks like one. Ive never seen anyone age so badly in such a short amount of time.
The lip curling and the hard man act is so cringemaking and contrived, Ive taken to watching him through my fingers. And yep, Jean Christophe DOES sound like something off Allo Allo. So much so in fact, that Im donning a mini skirt, suspenders and heels tonight and am going to throw myself across the hotplate (Ill turn it off first), yelling "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh Reeennnnnnnnehhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Oh, and according to the radio this morning, Gary and Jean Christophe loathe each other so much, theyve already had to move them to separate hotels.
Hmmmm sounds like a bit of desperate publicity to me, to crank up what is becoming a bore-fest.:mad2:
I may give it another go tonight, if I have the stomach for it, but on the other hand I may just watch my skiddy old undies go around and around and around....in the washing machine instead....

I used to like him on HIGNFY, Floops, but he irritated the hell out of me that first night. Too much of the same old same old...
I chose to watch Hustle last night, and I'll definitely watch The Apprentice tonight, so maybe I'll take another look at this tomorrow. But after reading the comments here I'm not expecting much.
floopy 20-04-2005, 07:04 PM I used to like him on HIGNFY, Floops, but he irritated the hell out of me that first night. Too much of the same old same old...
Quite so, Mr Dabster :cool2:
And the way he talks out of the side of his mouth annoys me too

And, as if that's not enough, he appears to be killing Pillock!
floopy 20-04-2005, 07:08 PM eh?
Angus? Pillock?
Well I enjoyed it.
I think the blue team is definately the stronger at the moment, Kelly and Terry especially. Aaron in the Red is hysterical when he keeps looking at his reflection, when he's not oggling Sam. It's a shame as last nights show proved "Enry" to be a winner. Big mistake kicking him out so early...the raving woofter should have gone instead.
My biggest problem is going to be setting the video to tape the apprentice tonight.
Bonsai 21-04-2005, 09:04 AM I like Angus, he is the only reason im watching. He always manages to make me laugh out loud with his dry sense of humour :w00t:
Minklemar 21-04-2005, 01:36 PM I knew I'd seem Simon before..........he was one of the staff (the footman maybe) on What The Butler Saw!!
Ahhh, so Simon-Marco isn't interested in owning a restaurant at all, he merely wants to get his ugly mug on telly as often as possible.
What happened last night. I didn't see it - which two were put up for eviction if any?
Minklemar 21-04-2005, 06:00 PM I missed some of last night's......but I'll try...
I was expecting the chefs to nominate again, but they didn't! I don't know when the next nominations are.
It was Gary's turn to lose his temper.....he shouted at Caroline and Simon - Simon because he's not very good at peeling apples and Caroline because she doesn't say 'Yes Chef!' everytime he speaks to her
JCN is still saying the F word at least once in every sentence.
Kathy (I know it's Kellie, but she'll always be Kathy to me) got annoyed with Aby because Aby kept barking orders at her with no please or thank yous! She was very rude actually - Kathy was trying to help and all Aby would let her do was cealn up after her.
Paul Burrels agent fell over and Timmy Mallet showed that he hasn't changed a bit.
On the ITV2 coverage MDS 'interviewed Liam Gallagher and made a right pigs ear of it.
mazwad 21-04-2005, 07:53 PM Well I enjoyed it.
The apprentice was on last night and very good it was too it is repeated on saturday I think. And I do agree about the woofter he is really getting on my nerves.

I have only recently realised my mistake...my head is so in the accountancy clouds this week that I am ****ed!
I will watch on saturday..thakinooo xx
Thank you Mink - Much appreciated.
I did see a bit of Hell's Kitchen warmed up, or whatever the itv2 version is called the other night, so I do know what you mean about Timmy Mallet. As much as parents love their children, there must be times when even they wish they could disown him.
I missed tonight's too, but I won't ask for another run-down as I think I can catch up quite quickly over the weekend. Sounds like it's just more of the same :)
Bonsai 22-04-2005, 08:27 AM I missed it last night too  So there werent any evictions again ?
How are they going to whittle these people down ? I thought there would be one a night !!!
Its on tonight for 90 minutes and there will be nominations then....not sure if the eviciton will be tonight though I wasnt paying that much attention
I cant STAND Simon the baldy mincer.......get over yourself love! And I ROARED when I saw the choccie pud he presented to Gary during the test thing the other night, for someone that is allegedly in catering, surely he KNOWS that presentation is the name of the game.....muppet!
Aby - silly girl, all the attention seeking last night, hes a famous Chef love, he aint gonna be interested in an auld slapper like you..........
And did anyone pick up on how JC was when he met the Appleton bird, said that he had always wanted to meet her - in his Renee voice :naughty:
Im loving Stein, Terry, Kathy (Mr I said exactly the same Minks  ) and Sam, and Aaron, well I am warming to him, hes a bit arrogant!
Pandora 22-04-2005, 09:44 PM Aby - silly girl, all the attention seeking last night, hes a famous Chef love, he aint gonna be interested in an auld slapper like you..........
And did anyone pick up on how JC was when he met the Appleton bird, said that he had always wanted to meet her - in his Renee voice :naughty:
Oh god, how bloody embarrassingly attention seeking is Aby. All that tantruming and water bottle throwing. Ol Jean Christophe wasnt impressed much was he? :glare:
And oooh lordy, yes Isis, he went STRAIGHTTTTT into Pepe Le Pew mode when he saw the Appleton bint didnt he? It was so funny!
Coastie 23-04-2005, 07:37 AM Aby has to go.....or be shot...one or the other I don't mind which...although I would prefer a shooting!
Looks like Gary could go tonight....I like himaswell but he's just to quiet to win the public vote against Queen Caroline who is as nutty as a brazil nut factory on planet nut!
Stein reminds me of Al Murray taking it all so seriously as well as having a similar appearance....
Terry just makes me laugh by his complete distain for the others in his team....
Aaron should be put to sleep......
The rest I hold in equal levels of enjoyment....
Coastie 24-04-2005, 07:25 AM Just heard.....Ooo Caroline has gone...I am suprised but pleased Gary has stayed in! :w00t:
Dolores 24-04-2005, 09:00 AM I've only watched the first two episodes and then I watched last nights (Saturday) when Caroline went.
I felt my self cringing with embarassment at the blue boy (Steve I think) talking about "class wars" .... with his "I'm from the streets" speech. How awful and embarrassing was he! and then that dippy dippy cow Aby falling right into his pathetic goading by admitting she probably was "middle class". Who gives a sh*t?! very embarrassing.
But not nearly so embarrassing as Gary stripping off in the kitchen! Words, for once, fail me!
TheBigBadDog 24-04-2005, 09:32 PM ....afraid the whole show is a pile of contrived rubbish...
Dolores 25-04-2005, 06:55 AM ....afraid the whole show is a pile of contrived rubbish...
I have to admit to falling asleep half way through the show last night .... hurrah at last I've found a cure for my insomnia!
Fee I heartedly recommend it!
Bonsai 25-04-2005, 08:31 AM But not nearly so embarrassing as Gary stripping off in the kitchen! Words, for once, fail me!
I thought he looked gorgeous in the buff ...... phwoar :w00t:
Minklemar 25-04-2005, 01:59 PM I seem to be in a minority here - I like Simon.....
He seems nice enough to me, he's working hard, taking critism and had his funny moments - he's one of my favourites in there!
The ones I like least are Aby, Terry and Aaron
I thought Caroline was great and I was sad to see her go.
I like Kellie too.
I'm indifferent to Sam, Gary and Stein
Pandora 25-04-2005, 02:58 PM I thought he looked gorgeous in the buff ...... phwoar :w00t:
:shocking: You're joking? Please tell me you're joking......
Bonsai 25-04-2005, 03:39 PM :shocking: You're joking? Please tell me you're joking......
Hmmmmmm no :w00t:
Dolores 25-04-2005, 05:05 PM I knew she wasn't joking Pan! I'm sending the medics round as I type this!
TheBigBadDog 25-04-2005, 08:30 PM I thought he looked gorgeous in the buff ...... phwoar :w00t:
...Specsavers have some great offers at the moment.....
Coastie 25-04-2005, 08:33 PM LOL BBD.....good to see you back by the way! :bye:
I was fortunate enough to escape the disrobing of the Rhodes incident....the thought makes me shiver!
TheBigBadDog 25-04-2005, 08:52 PM ..you didn't miss much - - seen more meat in a butchers turn-up!
...s'been a while since I last visited, though I'd see who was still around...

he was very proud of himself wasn't he though!
what would health and safety have to say about naked bodies in the kitchen? or just good old honest public decency have to say about it!

I'm still here BBD, but I guess you knew I would be!
How you doing? Long time no see!

It's very dangerous to go topless in the kitchen....you can burn your nipples! :shocking:

long time indeed...very nice to [see] you all again....

Ouch!
Glad Aaron and Aby have gone...loved the shots of Aaron and his "morning glory".
I am warming more and more to Mr Rhodes, that twinkle in his eye is pulling me in. Should I be worried.
Pandora 25-04-2005, 10:11 PM I am warming more and more to Mr Rhodes, that twinkle in his eye is pulling me in. Should I be worried. You most certainly should. I suggest shutting your eyes every time he comes on screen.
Appears on screen, I mean, should Bonsai start getting excitable. Again.
Coastie : It's very dangerous to go topless in the kitchen....you can burn your nipples! :shocking:
Speaking from personal experience, Coastie? :bored:

Ooo how happy am I that those two have left the kitchen! :)
And Cat...Dol has some special tonic...and she has friends in white coats...both are on the way to you now!
Pan..... erm...it all goes back to a recipe for duck breasts....
I was reading an article last night and discovered that JC lives on a farm in Bedfordshire! WE ARE NEIGHBOURS!
Never seen him in sainsburies tho...have you Buzz?
Not sainsburies no - but then he's not likely to be in there in case he bumps into Jamie Oliver!!
I do think I saw him in the local Best One once though - he was picking up a jar of Homepride Red Wine sauce for Chikin.
Thank god Aaron has gone!!!

No stalking Cat......unless you let me join in! :wink2:
mazwad 26-04-2005, 09:51 PM I've just seen Nadia on the ITV2 coverage she has a very large chest now and is looking a bit like Sonia from Eastenders only better looking.
Stein and Gary have walked out of the Blue kitchen saying they are not working with JC anymore poor Kellie is running it on her own at the moment.
Kellie is the only one that seems able to cope with the pressure and JC - I hope she wins. So, why did they walk out - any news Maz?
It was funny seeing the way Aby reacted to JC tonight - she was playing it down, but the poor girl was sizzling more than just in the kitchen.
As usual with positive voting the 'more interesting' characters are staying in, which I suppose is fair enough in some ways as it keeps the show ticking over. Those that might be the better cooks, but don't arouse much emotion end up having to go. Kellie has the advantage of being not only a good cook, but also entertaining - I think she'll go the whole way. A bit like Aaron really.
Coastie 27-04-2005, 02:28 AM Yes Noxie...Kellie is definately developing into the strongest contestant...she flies around that kitchen carrying everyone else and like you say she has a fun attitude...
Stein n Gary need to grow up.....it's a proffessional kitchen...you have to be 100% on the ball all the time...I guess they followed the saying 'If you can't stand the heat...'
christine 27-04-2005, 12:47 PM Kellie is my favorite to win too. I love JC and dislike GR with a passion. I don't know if its the editing but GR is always slagging off the Blue kitchen and JC like a spiteful child but I don't see the blue team and JC doing the same - at least not to the same degree.
JC has more charm in his little finger than GR, who is sadly under the impression he is gods gift e.g getting his scrawny chest out - yuk :(
mazwad 27-04-2005, 06:11 PM I couldn't find anything in the paper about Stein and Gary walking out so I suppose it must have been a storm in a teacup as usual. Mr M wanted another programme on just after they said about it so I never heard anymore no doubt there will be something about it tonight. I too think Kellie is the one who most deserves to win. GR is getting on my nerves as the show goes on so I would like to see a blue winner just to annoy him. Aby says isn the paper today that there was a spark between her and JC in her dreams methinks.well he 's in mine anyway
Here is a link re: Stein ......
http://www.adayinhell.com/newsdetail.aspx?article=65 (Stein does one)
Pandora 27-04-2005, 10:25 PM Aby says in the paper today that there was a spark between her and JC in her dreams methinks.well he 's in mine anyway God almighty, how bloody deluded is that Aby??? There WAS no spark !!! Scary deluded woman. She reminds me of a stalker that wont take no for an answer.
Gary Rhodes took his top off again tonight (PMSL @ Angus's comments about him), which will please Bonsai but make the rest of us vomit....
Stein and Gary - good grief.... Im nearly speechless. Stein - "oh Im Mr life & Soul of the Party I am" - proved himself to be anything but, with a very scary aggressive streak just below the surface and an immaturity that was breathtaking.
John Christophe, for all his gorgeousness, seems to think that being ignorant is acceptable. It isnt, however I wouldnt have wasted my energy on him like Stein did. A pint of beer over the head wouldve done.
JC made me laugh at the end saying, "nobody, in 25 yrs has ever disrespected me in the kitchen like he did today". Well two things to that JC, (1) Now you know how it bloody feels you ignorant, petulant tart and (2) you are glorified cook, not royalty.... so get over yerself.
Gary the contestant is a total and utter tw*tter. I wish someone would shove that great big blue chefs hat up his back passage.
Kellie is a star. A loud Kathy Burke-alike star - but a star nontheless.
The Red Kitchen and Gary Rhodes himself are just smug twits.
Bonsai 28-04-2005, 11:05 AM You do make me giggle pandora
Yes - i did indeed go a bit funny when GR took his top off again. Phwoar
As for the rest of your post above, i agree with everything 100%, although i would rather like the Gary team to win as i think they have proved that they are the better team in the kitchen, and can cope with the pressure.
maxine 28-04-2005, 11:13 AM Oooh, did you see David Ginola last night? He looks even more gorgeous with grey hair.
christine 28-04-2005, 12:35 PM I couldn't believe it when GR took his top off AGAIN I mean puuurleeze once was bad enough. Who on earth does he think he is???? And the red team were all mooning [not with their trousers down I must add quickly] about how good his body was. Does everyone need glasses? are they all drunk?
I can forgive JC anything, even a hissy fit. As the ignoring was aimed at Kellie in the first place and she had the maturity to just let it go I thought Stein was out of order to have a go. Especially as he claimed it was on Kellies behalf when she is quite capable of saying something herself if she wanted to. Then later to blame Kellie for being a real trouper and working all on her own was totally out of order. Gary was only too pleased to twist the knife as well.
It will be very interesting to see how the blue team survive this tonight.
Minklemar 28-04-2005, 01:01 PM That Stein blummin annoyed me last night - Kellie told him not to, but he had a go at JC anyway......then had the cheek to be annoyed with Kellie because she stayed in the kitchen after he stood up for her!! The idiot couldn't seem to get it into his head that she didn't want or need him standing up for her.
What about Gary, who thinks that the only competition he had is Kellie and thinks he had the contest in the bag......doesn't he realise that the pulic are voting? Why anyone would vote for him to win it I can't imagine.
And what about Aby going on about how she was an outsider from the beginning because she was middle class? Lady P and Henry were both posher than her and all the other contestants liked them. It had less to do with class and a lot more to do with her being an arrogant bossy little madam why no-one liked her.
Coastie 01-05-2005, 12:44 PM Looks like Kellies gonna win then! I like Kellie...she's a real person...if you get my meaning...Terry's alright just a bit of a whinger!

Just a shame that the highlight of her life seems to have been to meet Jade Goody

I have sent some men in white coats and reeally big needles full of stuff to sort Kellie out!
And yes Terry is sweet (at times) but he just moans...and moans....and moans!

Islandman 03-05-2005, 03:09 AM I just saw an ad for this show tonight...it's coming to America with the same host guy as did your show. Is this show good? From the previews, the guy kinda seemed like a chef version of Simon Cowell. lol.
Bella 03-05-2005, 12:48 PM Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie Kellie
Lol, that reminds me of an old Cheers sketch when Woody was singing a song just like that to his girlfriend who surprise, surprise was called Kelly!!
Max, I watched a bit of it last night and they were talking to David Ginola, my first thought was why has Peter Beale got a French accent!
Bonsai 03-05-2005, 02:13 PM So who won ????
mazwad 03-05-2005, 03:58 PM Unfortunately not Kellie it was Terry who took the prize. Not quite sure how he managed it except maybe more northeners pick up the phone and vote. I didn't vote even though I wanted Kellie to win, I watch the programmes but don't get sucked in to the voting process.

IM, his name is Angus Deayton. He reads from an autocue so no off the cuff comments like Simon. He has a very dry sardonic wit which I wouldn't have thought would travel well. Last night he literally made me laugh out loud - I can't remember what was said only that he made some cutting remarks when describing the contestants in the blue kitchen, run by a French chef, and not invading Iraq. Just trust me, it was funny at the time.
I was sure Kellie was going to win, so I was surprised when Terry got the nod. I liked both contestants, but from everything JC was saying about Kellie, I think she would have been a worthy winner. No disrespect to Terry, he did well.
Coastie 03-05-2005, 06:48 PM Ho well....I would like Kellie to have won but hey Terry did well.... so no ill feeling here! :wink_kiss
Adzam 03-05-2005, 07:56 PM Islandman I think your talking about Gordon Ramsey! and YES he is a Chef Simon Cowell! He's great though!
Coastie 03-05-2005, 08:32 PM But he might swear to much for American TV!
