Andrea 20-04-2005, 08:43 PM aww, not seen this tonight, I've been listening to the football. Look forward to seeing what you all say. Patsy 20-04-2005, 09:01 PM NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOT FAIR Just because she was the best behind the camera, she was not integral in the choice of product. The boys were tripping over each other. That was the only mistake and Miriam was treated unjustly. She proved that she would be an asset in front of people, making presentations, etc. They did not give her the right information, whereas Saira was quite brilliant, if a little loud! James was also a natural on camera and did well considering his eardrums must have been bursting! Next week looks verrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting. dab 20-04-2005, 09:02 PM Gutted! I'm going out to the garden to eat worms! Patsy 20-04-2005, 09:06 PM Careful Dab, they might be related to Sir Alan! Haydon 20-04-2005, 09:12 PM That was good tonight! Paul should have gone though. I wonder if Miriam has got a presenting job on a shopping channel - I bet she gets an offer. Fee For All 20-04-2005, 09:13 PM Well, he said it at last - I have thought for a while that Paul's longevity was to do with his similarity to Sugs. I wonder if the big man will be able to control his conceit and be objective? James was less obnoxious tonight, but I can't see him fitting into the Sugar empire. Fee For All 20-04-2005, 09:14 PM That was good tonight! Paul should have gone though. I wonder if Miriam has got a presenting job on a shopping channel - I bet she gets an offer. I bet Sir Alan has sold her to them for a tidy profit:laugh: Andrea 20-04-2005, 09:14 PM I just flicked over and saw the sacking, couldn't believe it. Looks like Sugar likes Paul, thinks he is like himself. But did you see afterward Sugar explaining himself to his two henchmen, saying will we see if I made a mistake. Looks like Sugar's two sidekicks didn't agree that Miriam should have gone. Patsy 20-04-2005, 09:18 PM Absolutely Feef. Now I've calmed down a bit, I completely agree with everything you've said. James has got by on shmarm and inoffensiveness (?) so far. He has no originality. Neither has Tim, but he also has no class. Saira is feisty and persistent, which has kept her in. Miriam had most things, except a big gob and I think that's what led to her downfall. When Paul blamed her leadership, she should have stuck up for herself more (although it may have been badly edited). I can only see Saira and Paul getting through next week's grilling. Dolores 20-04-2005, 09:27 PM Quite frankly I think Sir A has done Miriam a favour. If he likes and admires (albeit grudingly) characters like Paul then she is way too good for the Sugar Empire. Good luck to Miriam whatever she does next - I'm sure she will be very very successful. Still think she looks grubby though! maybe she just needs a bit of sun on her skin! dab 21-04-2005, 07:07 AM Dol, I was dismayed for Miriam last night but this morning I can see that you're absolutely right. He might be at the "top of his game" - but that decision sucks. I really hope the TV channel snapped her up. survivorfan 21-04-2005, 07:17 AM Mind you, to all those who say she should get a job as a shopping channel presenter - don't you think she might not want to! I would see her as being a credit to any business, she has multiple talents. dab 21-04-2005, 07:24 AM All true, sf. But if they offered her a presenting job on the spot at least that would give her confidence and her CV an immediate boost, after the gross unfairness she's just experienced, whether or not she accepted the offer. survivorfan 21-04-2005, 07:30 AM I too was put out when Miriam was sacked. It seemed very unfair. Then I realised that AS must already have decided who he wants for the job, so the order in which the rest get sacked is not really relevant. Next week's interviews will just be going through the motions, I'm sure. dab 21-04-2005, 07:38 AM Yep. That's what I think too. Sucks, dunnit. kina 21-04-2005, 10:02 AM [QUOTE=Patsy] people, making presentations, etc. They did not give her the right information, whereas Saira was quite brilliant, if a little loud! James was also a natural on camera and did well considering his eardrums must have been bursting! A LITTLE LOUD!????????????? I didn' t hear goed. MariaRob 21-04-2005, 11:01 AM I too think its grossly unfair that Mim was sacked yesterday, especially after her star like presentation performance that even "the rudest man in Britain" was waxing lirical about! This is becoming a foregone conclusion, its either Big Mouth to win;Paul or Saira. Alan LIKES the pair of them, its pretty evident. He he favours gobby people. I thought there was to be no sentiments in business. Like another poster said Miriam was done a favour, the tacky Sugar empire deserves Paul or Saira. Hmpphhh Gelastic 21-04-2005, 01:21 PM I thought he was wrong to sack Miriam too. After all the shopping chanel said they could hire her, so clearly her presenting was flawless, and therefore the blame can only like with Paul... oh and Tim. But PAUL really and not just because I don't like him, honest. I think Alan Sugar fired Miriam because otherwise it would mena he had to fire Paul (as Tim performed better than him in this task). He didn't want to fire Paul blah blah you remind me of me (wouldn't you be so ashamed if Paul reminded you of you?) so Miriams time was up. I thought she did herself proud by accepting it with good grace, and I just hope Alan Sugar realises what a mistake he made when he hires Paul as the apprentice and all the women in the company resign due to Pauls misoginistic tendancies. Crystal Lights 21-04-2005, 02:34 PM I thought she did herself proud by accepting it with good grace, and I just hope Alan Sugar realises what a mistake he made when he hires Paul as the apprentice and all the women in the company resign due to Pauls misoginistic tendancies. Miriam was amazing last night - tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber gave her the worst choice of products to sell and she still managed to pull a blinder. She imo has been the best contestant throughout, she is bright, articulate, a geat team player and incredibly calm under pressure. Remember her in the auction episode and she swung the whole negotiations part with Ian Wright around after Tim had ******* it up. Paul is an arrogant **** - He is all mouth and no substance(as are Tim, and saira to an extent) - how someone like AS could contemplate hiring that dim wit is beyond me. Miriam was by far the best candidate and was even so gracious in her defeeat...Nick (AS's aide totally didn't want her fired) Very disappointing result AS! Nox 21-04-2005, 02:49 PM I agree with everything that's been said about the unfairness of Miriam's sacking. It wasn't like AS wasn't told about what was happening behind the scenes - that's what his advisors are for. And to make it even more incredible, the femal advisor (forgotten her name) specifically said that the boys added very little to the overall task and Miriam could have almost done it on her own. AS clearly didn't listen to them as he has his own agenda where the sleazy Paul is concerned. But, and here's a twist - tell me if it's barking. Imagine that for whatever reason AS doesn't really want to hire any of them, that none of the candidates come up to the standard he expects. He knows he's going to be stuck with someone at the end of the series, so what does he do? He hires the most obnoxious ineffectual candidate knowing he'll have a good reason to sack him for real very soon. Dolores 21-04-2005, 03:36 PM oooh Nox! you are too too devious! but I like your style! :naughty: I find it strangely exciting! mikado 22-04-2005, 09:45 AM I too was put out when Miriam was sacked. It seemed very unfair. Then I realised that AS must already have decided who he wants for the job, so the order in which the rest get sacked is not really relevant. Next week's interviews will just be going through the motions, I'm sure. Yeah, Miriam's sacking was a hatchet job. Miriam performed better than anyone, but lost out because SAS has already decided she's not the one for him. Credit to Miriam though, she showed a lot of dignity and has probably emerged from this series looking better than anyone else. Dolores 24-04-2005, 09:43 AM I only watched the end of this on Wednesday, but last night i watched the repeat from the beginning. I will swear that in the beginning Alan Sugar said that the right products were absolutely key to the task - he did didn't he? And yet he sacked Miriam cos her producers were crap and that was somehow her fault! Baffling! .....and Paul is so urrrrggggghhhhhh! a really hateful bloke. In the cab at the beginning when Mim was picked as team leader and he gave his spiel about "women in charge" ..... the obnoxious little tw@ thinks (a) he is funny and (b) he is right. If Paul is chosen (and I'm beginning to think him and Sir Alan deserve each other!!) I would like to see another series of Paul actually doing the job and falling flat on his face!!! Also Sir Alan's speech at the beginningof every programme where he says: I don't like smoozers, bullsh*tters, lazy people etc etc ..... well he could be writing Paul's cv for him cos he is all of the above! I can't beleive it is the last week next week - I will be bereft! Flip 24-04-2005, 07:30 PM  Blast, blast and double blast - I forgot to watch it on Wedensday and ditto last night - oh pants and then I come on here and read the lovely, fave, Miriam was sacked and unfairly by the sounds of it. I have to cling to Nox's theory on this - otherwise I thing I will lose the will to live if someone [ie AS] can prefer Saira, Paul or James over Mims! Really gutted that I missed it and even more gutted that Miriam went! :wallbash: Fee For All 23-05-2007, 09:46 PM ...and they're doing it again next week :w00t: Nothing will ever top this though http://www.reekiesgrasmere.co.uk/trolleyed/images/products/wolfspirit.jpg Dolores 23-05-2007, 09:52 PM pmsl fee! now that thread about the wolves fleece was a very very funny thread wasn't it! :applause: I can't look at anyone wearing one of those fleecey animal prints without it immediately springing to my mind! Your research in that area in particular, Fee, was above and beyond the call of duty (and slightly unnerving I have to add!!) Fee For All 23-05-2007, 10:01 PM Ta da!!...............
