I'd be up for it too, if it was started up again.

Come on guys - it is an easy job.

Just make the first choice, delegate from then on and the only thing to do is to get the nominator to write the first review.

I have literally started the Da Vinci code last night - otherwise I would volunteer. But the book club is good fun and reading books that are not on your general remit is mind expanding and experimental.

I only managed to read one book during my time in the book club last time!
If it's resurrected, I'll join in again, after my exams.

I shall try and be a part time participant...unfortunately I have about 6 books stacked in a pile just waiting for me to read them at the mo....plus another screen play to write so I will attempt to finish a book as you start one at some stage! :wink_kiss

I'm always open to new suggestions of what book to read. It's nice to be introduced to different genres in this way. For instance I never would have read Life at the Bottom which I beleive was one of Lucy's choices. I found it fascinating and liked to impress my clever friends by quoting from it from time to time!

I would like to make a suggestion, unless anyone else has a suggestion they'd like to make?

My suggestion is The Beach by Alex Garland - I havent' read it or seen the film, but I've heard it mentioned a couple of times lately and would like to read it. Anyone interested?

well if everyone agrees the book we usually have a month to read it in.

I'm also just about starting Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci code ... my friend lent them to me and i feel I have to read them before I read anything else. So if we read the book and reported back on it by about w/c 12 June? would that suit people? or am I being bossy?!

I don't mind any other book suggestion ... any ideas anyone?

The Beach would work for me. I've read about half of it...until school started up again and I never got back to reading it. Would give me a reason to finish it as I quite liked what I read of it.

I enjoyed the book club and read some really good books that I wouldn't have even thought of picking up. Read some rubbish ones as well :wink2:

I will join in and I will go and pick The beach up from the library tomorrow so I can take it on my holidays on Saturday.

And Dol, you are not being bossy, this sort of thing needs a bit of organisation and I can see you are the gal to do it
It also means you are the first one to do the review :ninja:

I haven't read The Beach, but have seen the film and would quite like to read it. I am reading Olivia's Luck at the moment, a sort of Marian Keyes type of author, very readable so I can read The Beach after that. I'll be popping in to the library at some point in the next week or so, and hopefully get a copy!

And no Dol, you are not being bossy....not like you though, these sort of things needs someone to take control.

When I first read this I immediately thought of that old film the beach, the real tearjerker one. I think it was called the beach. I thought, oh go on then I'll have a go at that.

Went down to the library and they had a copy in(amazing for my little library) and then realised it's the Leonardo film isn't it.
That's great because I haven't seen the film and from the cover it sounds a good read.

I will grab a copy of The Beach soon, and although I have read it once I will have another go, but I am absolutley hooked on the Da Vinci Code at this precise moment - so if I write a summary/opinion/synopsis/critique - god what word am I looking for?? when I have finished in readiness for the month that deals with the Da Vinci code.

Flip, once you have read it, you'll have to come up and we have a wee visit to Rosslyn Chapel! Make it after we move, then you can stay over! :)

Shall we say first report on w/c 12th June? That should give most people time to finish off whatever they're reading at the moment before they start on The Beach.
